Santa In A Manger

Santa is a controversial subject. Some parents have Santa in their homes and others do not. We have Santa and make sure that RJ knows this season is about Jesus' birth. Tonight he wanted me to tell him a story. I told him one that had Santa in a manger. Santa wanted him to make sure that RJ loved Jesus more than anything. This will probably be the last year of Santa and that's ok. RJ is already beginning to figure it out. We enjoy every stage of life. So, tonight Santa visited baby Jesus in a manger filled with hay. God is good.

The Season Of Being Thankful

The month of November is rapidly coming to an end. Christmas music is already blasting in my home and soon my house will be transformed to our own little Christmas wonderland. We didn't skip Thanksgiving and made sure to give thanks during our feast on Thanksgiving Day. However, I don't feel I truly expressed my thanks on this blog. I did touch on it, but I want to share from my heart. I'm thankful to be alive. I'm thankful to live in America. I'm thankful for the school my son attends. I'm thankful that this year my husband and I celebrated 10 years of marriage. I'm thankful to have made it to turning 40. I'm thankful my son made the decision to be baptized. I'm thankful that I can now see my mom on a regular bases. I'm thankful for my family and church family. I'm thankful that in a crazy world, I have the peace of God. I'm thankful for the little things. I'm thankful for the big things and I'm thankful to you, for taking time to read my blog. God is good.

Being Still

Today was one of those wild ride days. RJ got car sick on the way to school and threw up. The phone was ringing like crazy and my e-mails were overflowing. It felt like the world was spinning and I just wanted to get off the ride. Then, I closed my eyes and heard a whisper, "I'm here, be still". At that moment the spinning stopped. The phone calls and the e-mails didn't stop, but I stopped. It's that time of the year again. Make sure you stop and be still. Wait and listen for that still small voice and hear what he has to say to you. Jesus is the reason for it all, every day, make sure you don't forget what his voice sounds like. Be still and know, no matter what, he is God. God is good.

Knowing God's Word

Today we attended church at Solid Rock in NJ. Bro. Wynn preached a heartfelt sermon on the power of the written word of God. I took some notes, but didn't have my notebook to take notes like I normally do. I wish I had. We need to love the word of God and make sure we know it. Knowing God's word makes it so we are able to combat the devil when he lies to us. When you quote the written and spoken word of God, the truth makes the devil leave. Speaking God's truth brings life, healing and deliverance.  Read The Bible daily and when you know his word, you will be am overcomer. We appreciate the Wynn family and are thankful they are pastoring Solid Rock. This week was a good one, we have much to be thankful for. God is good.

Kissmus Merry

Today we decided to visit Hershey Park. We have never been here before. The park was filled with beautiful Christmas lights and decorations. The boys had a blast going on the rides. We went on the monorail with Grammy and Ima. The view was pretty cool. The weather was a bit on the cool side too. We had a nice  time and it was good to see my mom and mother in law having some fun. To make it even better, Santa was here, so RJ was able to visit with him. All in all, we had a good time. God is good.

Mrs. Clucky

At the end of 3rd grade, RJ's class had a fun science project. They had the pleasure of watching the process of chickens hatching and learning how to care for them while they were still little chicks. These chickens came to live in NJ with Grammy. Joe Joe, Grammy and Ima take good care of the chickens. Every month when we come to visit, RJ goes out to see them. One chicken, Mrs. Clucky, happens to love RJ. As soon as she sees him in the morning, she will lay a fresh egg for him. We cool the egg and he eats the freshest egg you could possibly get. Mrs. Clucky, happens to like to be held by either Joe Joe or RJ. She's very content to sit in their lap or be carried around like you would a puppy. She's the sweetest chicken I have ever met. God is good.

Thanksgiving 2016

This Thanksgiving Day was extra special for me since my mom was here with us. I have not celebrated Thanksgiving with my mom in over 10 years. The food was delicious and the time with family priceless. It's also Pearl's first Thanksgiving and I think she had a pretty good time. I have a lot to be thankful for. My boy was baptized this year. My mom survived a stroke and is doing better every day. My Mother in law is healthy. So much more I could express. I'm so thankful for the peace of God and for his promises. I'm thankful for every day God gives me. God is good.

Pollyanna Gets The Last Laugh

This past Tuesday, Bro Marvin Walker taught an excellent lesson for our communion service. His main text was taken from Phillipians 4:8. His title was,"Pollyanna Gets The Last Laugh".
Pollyanna was a book written about a little girl who had been orphaned. Her father had taught her to have a positive outlook on everything. This helped her get through many things and changed her whole town. Researchers have shown positive thinking can transform your life.  If you picture your success in your mind, take note of other's success and focus on you inner dialogue, you can end with a postive outcome. When you apply spiritual emphases to these things you will be an overcomer. When you visualize the success of Bible characters in challenging situations and remember how God brought you through trials of the past, you will know God is going to deliver you. The testimony of others can remind you that if God did it for them, he can do it for you. Peter was in jail, he went into a deep sleep because he knew Gods word and knew God's promises. He was not afraid. In fact he was in such a deep sleep, the angel had to wake him up in order to deliver him. When God gives a promise, he keeps his promises. Visualize what God has said and think on God's word. You are a conqueror through Christ! Joy functions as gratitude. Gratitude is a function of perspective. That becomes the perspective of our faith. God is good.

Thanksgiving Communion

Tonight we partook of communion at our church.  I don't ever take it lightly. It was extra special because this time RJ was participating after having been baptized. We also heard a dynamic sermon by Bro Marvin Walker that I plan to share with you tomorrow. God is good.

The Wind Is Blowing

Several days ago I mentioned that it felt more like Spring and nothing like Fall weather. We have literally overnight gone from Spring like weather to freezing cold howling winds. Snow, sleet and rain are mixing in with the leaves as they fall to the ground. I'm not complaining and that is a bit of a surprise to me since I grew up in sunny California. I actually became excited that it was cold enough to wear my boots. I can do without the howling wind, but am looking forward to all the cuddle time that comes with it being cold outside. God is good.

El Shaddai God Almighty

At times there is that Sunday Service where you know that the manifest presence of God has taken place. There was a moment in the services as Pastor Davis was preaching that I could feel something happening. My faith began to soar and I began to pray for a lot of things, especially Amalia. I began to believe that God was healing her at that very moment. Later today, I tried to call her, but found out she was feeling so good that she was being released from the hospital. I know God is healing her body. I am going to share with you my notes from today's sermon. I hope I can convey what was said. Pastor Davis preached from Genesis 17:1 and Ephesians 3:20, with the title of " El Shaddai, God Almighty". Abraham at first was called Abram. God changed his name. He became the father of the faithful. To be a child of Abraham, you must be a child of faith. God revealed himself as the El Shaddai, The Almighty God. He all powerful and omnipotent. He is greater and he is more than enough. He is not an enough God, he is MORE than enough. He is more than anything you may face in your life. Faith is not limited to the size of your problem. The size of your miracle is determined by the size of your faith. God has limitless power. We act like God is going to run out of the ability to meet our needs. God is self-sufficient, he is more than enough. God is bigger than your problem. He is never caught off guard when something happens. He already went into your future and took care of it. He comes to you in the present and whispers in you ear that he has already taken care of it. We must hold on to this promise and have faith that if God said it, that is more than enough. Your miracle is determined by the size of your faith. Pastor then shared the story from the Bible when the people were starving. They were selling a donkey's head for a huge amount of money. The prophet told the people that God was going to provide and that the very next day the would be selling flour meal for a very cheap price. One man at the gate didn't believe it to be so. This man doubted that God would do such a thing. The very next day God caused the promise to come to pass. As the people stampeded to the food, the man who doubted saw the promise come to pass, but was not able to have any of it because he was trampled to death. Your lack of faith can cause you to see the promises of God come to pass and keep you from having any of it for yourself. If you will believe that God is the El Shaddai of your life, you will receive your miracle. It will be according to your faith. We are masters of our destiny by the choices we make. Rise up in faith believing not just what he can do, but who he is. God is more than enough. If he can speak the world into existence and then create you with his own hands, then can he not heal you? If he created your organs and body, then when you are sick, can he not heal you and give you a new one? When Jesus fed the people with 2 fishes and 5 loaves of bread that was a miracle. The greater miracle was that after everyone had eaten, there were still 12 baskets full leftover. God did not just supply enough, he supplied more than enough. Don't get caught up in the fear or doubt the situation. Trust God and have faith that he is more than enough for your situation. God is faithful and he will not fail you. God is good.

Keep The Prayers Coming

My cousin Amalia says thank you to all of you for your prayers. She is back in the hospital and finished her second round of chemo. Amalia needs a miracle and I know God hears our prayers.  The hope is that she will be feeling well enough to be home with family for Thanksgiving. She still needs a liver and for the tumor to shrink. Thankfully, the cancer is not spreading. God is able and he is good all the time.

Unexpected Spring

If you asked my nose, eyes and head what the season was, it would tell you Spring. My allergies have come in full swing as if we were in the peak of Spring. I noticed several trees seemed to be a bit confused. Limbs that are loosing leaves are also starting to bud. The weather has been on the warm side for a while. I love the crisp air of Autumn and we are instead getting a Spring breeze. Hopefully for natures sake the weather will swing back to it's normal cycle. I will try to remember this when snow comes and it's so cold I can't feel my nose. God is good.

Position Of True Worship

Tonight there was a Spanish Conference at Bethel. Bro. Romero was the guest speaker and he preached in English with a translator. Many times when there is a translator, my notes are not as good as I would like them to be. His sermon was outstanding. He preached from John 4:23 on the "Position Of True Worship". He talked about in Hebrew the word worship means to prostrate yourself. To lay down on the ground on your face. God created us from the dust. He spoke everything else into existence, but he created us. When he created us, he breathed his breath into us. You took his breath away. He created us for a purpose and that is to worship. Because God is the highest, he can not worship himself. We were created to give him worship and he seeks out those who will worship him in spirit and in truth. Worship is not just a sound that is made. Anyone can say words, sing a song or shout, but it not be worship. Worship is when your heart is in it. When you in the spirit with all your heart, lay yourself aside. True worship is not full of self, it's total surrender to the Lord. The God who knows everything, sees everything is looking for those who will worship him. When you are in true worship, things begin to happen. God begins to move on you and in your life. True worship is not based on how we feel or how good or bad our day was. We pour our alabaster box on him, because he is worthy of our worship. God is good.

A Hug For You

I like to give hugs. I always have and I hope I always will. There is something about a hug that breaks down barriers and can sooth a weary heart. Sometimes when I hug I feel like I am the one gaining something positive, while at other times I can feel strength flowing from me into the other person. Now being a hugger in New York is not an easy thing. New Yorkers (at least the city folks) are famous to doing their best to not give eye contact. Or better yet, they will give you the air kiss on your cheeks. A full on hug, well, good luck. In the church here in New York a lot give a kiss on the cheek, at least there my hugs are welcomed. I took a personality test several years ago and I was given the color blue. Those who are blue, love everyone. I try to be that person. I won't force a hug on anyone. If you want one or need one, I'm happy to give it to you, New Yorker or not. God is good.

International Thanksgiving

Tonight our Home Bible Study Group celebrated Thanksgiving together. Three of my Chinese students joined us. It was their first time having a Thanksgiving meal. They brought delicious Chinese food and so we had an International Thanksgiving feast. Each one of them expressed their delight in the new food and seeing a Turkey come out of the oven. I felt like my heart was going to burst when one said she couldn't explain, but the house felt very sweet. I love my home group, we are like family. My Chinsee students were able to practice their English, taste new food and enjoy the fellowship of friends. My heart is overflowing tonight. God is good.

Man's Best Friend

Most of my life I had a dog growing up, even when as a child, we did not have a place to sleep, our dogs were our faithful companions. Bob and I knew that we wanted RJ to have a dog as a loyal companion. We found Mozart and they were literally five days apart. When Mozart suddenly died, the house was super empty. Thankfully a little puppy named Pearl came into our lives and hearts. The puppy stage at times has been trying, but when I see how devoted she is to RJ, it's easy to forgive. I love how she is RJ's best friend and fiercest defender. She's a good dog and I'm thankful that RJ has her. God is good.

Happy Birthday Grammy

Today we enjoyed a beautiful church service at Solid Rock in NJ. It was a sermon talking about being there for someone in their time of need. Following service we had a birthday party for my Mother in Law. She had a great time. I'm glad to see that my mom is doing well here in NJ. It's been a nice weekend. God is good.

Ten Years Going

Today we all did this and that during the day. RJ spent most of the day with his Aunt Jen and Uncle Joe. He enjoyed every minute with them. When our 10 year anniversary came around last month we really wanted to celebrate with dinner at The Crab Trap. Unfortunately for us, when we arrived the wait was over an hour, so we went elsewhere. We gave it another try tonight and enjoyed a lovely 10 year anniversary dinner. The Crab Trap is a special place for Bob. His dad played in a band there for many years. Later in the evening we joined some friends who were celebrating their 30th and 10th anniversary.  God is good.

Happy Birthday Joe Joe

Tonight we had cake and celebrated Joe Joe turning 11. We are also here to celebrate my Mother In Law's birthday. I'm glad to see my mom too. She is enjoying NJ and being with my mother in law. I'm thankful for this. God is good.
