Break Every Chain

There is a song we sing at church and is being sung in many places. This song  talks about the power in the name of Jesus to break every chain. I've heard many versions, but my favorite is when our church choir sings it. The song was recently sung by a contestant for a reality show. A video of it is floating around social media. It's being sung a lot, but do we realize what we are saying? If we can grasp the truth behind it, the way we would pray would change. Truly, there is power in the name of Jesus. It does not matter the circumstance, when we speak his names chains are broken, walls come down and the impossible becomes possible. It does not matter what may be going on in your life, speak the name of Jesus. He is the light that shatters the darkness! God is good.

We Must Be Salt

The speaker for tonight's Bible Study lesson was, Bro. Ferragamo. He taught an excellent lesson with the title of, "We Must Be Salt". His main text was from Mathew 5:13. We are all the salt of the earth. In the last days we are living in a dangerous world and it's so important that we have a strong walk with the Lord. We must be filled with his spirit and baptized in his name as according to Acts 2:38. We read in John 17:18 that God sends us into the world to help him seek and save those that are lost. He needs us to be his light to a dark world. We all have a purpose in the Kingdom of God. We are the way he spreads his gospel to those around us. This world needs Jesus and we need to reach it. God is coming soon and time is running out. Remember the spirit of the living God is inside of you. It's so important that the body of Christ be united. We need to be one with the will of God and one with each other. God is not racial, nor does he choose the poor over the rich or the rich over the poor. He died for everyone. We must not get caught up in the cultural and political fights that are taking place. We must love one another as Christ loves us. We are salt. Salt at one time was a very valuable commodity. When God told us we were the salt, he was telling us that we are special and we must look out for the welfare of those around us. We are to be a positive influence wherever we go, we need to change our environment. Salt is used for medicinal purposes. The church needs to be a spiritual hospital. Only God can break the chains and heal, you are the voice to proclaim his healing power. Salt is used to delay decay. It's time for the church to get on their knees and pray for our world. America once used to be a Nation Under God, we must pray for it to turn back to God again. You are the temple where the spirit of God dwells, when you are filled with him, you can cause others to want more of him. Salt creates thirst. The more of God you have in your life, the more he shines through you to others. God will perform miracles through you, when you are walking with the Lord. We must be the salt of the earth to those around us. God is good.

How We Met

This week is the General Conference for the United Pentecostal Church International. Tonight is my favorite service, the Missionary Service. I remember sitting and listening to many wonderful people preach and feel the tug on my heart to go overseas. I will never forget one year sitting and watching Sis. Mangun and Sis Whilloughby on their faces praying. They didn't care who was around them, they were desperate in prayer for God to move. They are my heroes. Sis. Willoughby has gone on to be with the Lord, Sis Mangun in still a firehouse in the prayer room. General Conference is special to me, I wish we were there tonight. I met my husband at the airport after attending one of these conferences. We started out as friends and several years later at a General Conference, we started dating. We love Missions, it's our heartbeat. I pray all who are in attendance this week are blessed and strengthened. I believe the Lord is coming back and we must be ready for his soon return. I also want to thank you for your prayers in regards to my cousin. Things are looking better for her and I will continue to believe in a good report from the Lord. God is good.

Time To Pray

Today I recieved news that my cousin was in need of a miracle healing. I was glad tonight we were having a Bible Study Group, because I knew everyone would pray. After everyone arrived, we prayed for my cousin. It turned into a powerful prayer session for her. This led to more prayer for other things. When we finished praying, you could feel that God had heard us and we are believing to hear good news. God is able all we need to do is ask with faith. God is good.

When Your Praise Meets His Presence

We had a guest speaker today at Bethel. RJ fell asleep on my lap, so I wasn't able to take notes. The entire service today was super charged and it was clear that God was doing a work. I can tell you the title of the sermon was along the lines of when you praise God, His presence will meet you.  He shared many stories of people who praised their way through the  circumstance to victory. He began to tell a story about a lady who had no food and she would feel depressed when she walked passed her empty fridge. One day there was knock on the door and nearby pastor was there with food. He told her the food will run out after a while, when it does, and you pass your empty fridge you yell out Hallelujah. As he was preaching this, he asked a young lady from our church to begin to sing Hallelujah with all her might. She is very anointed and as she began to do this, the power of God fell. He stopped preaching a told us that if we would praise God no matter the situation, God would move. I lost count of how many recieved the Holy Ghost and were baptized in the precious name of Jesus. It was a powerful service. When we got home my mom kept yelling out, "Hallelujah!", my mother in law was with us too so when my mom yelled it out, she yelled it too. It was good to see them blessed today. God is good.

Bob and Colonel Sanders' Ghost

Bob arrived late last night from a business trip. He told us he stopped at KFC and as he walked in a man who looked like Colonel Sanders was standing in front of the door. Bob asked if he was the famous Colonel and he said yes and proceeded to give Bob the secret ingredients to his KFC chicken. When Bob looked up to thank him, the man had disappeared. Bob and RJ later purchased the ingredients and put it to test. As we were eating fresh fried chicken, we marveled at how much it tasted just like KFC. I look at him and it dawned on me that Bob had been pulling my leg. He didn't meet any "Ghost", he found the ingredients from a Google search and took me for a "ride". I have to say the chicken was pretty good and I enjoyed the good joke. God is good.

Fruit Of The Spirit Part 4

Tonight Bro. Cook finished his lesson on The Fruit Of The Spirit. His main text was taken from Galatians 5:22-23. He focused on Faith, Meekness and Temperance. Meekness is humility, the willingness to not be lifted up, to have a quiet and gentle spirit. A willingness to be teachable and accountable. It's important to always be teachable, them moment you stop being teachable is when you stop being successful. You can't learn if you are always talking, you need to be a good listener. We are accountable to God's word. When you are accountable to someone it keeps you on the straight and narrow path. Meekness is the willingness to be submitted. Not doing it because you have to, but because you are willing to do it. When you are meek and someone treats your wrong, you do not even think about retaliating. Temperance is self-control, you keep your flesh under subjection. You do not allow your feeling's and emotions to control you. You keep your attitude under subjection, you need to be able to handle a crises without falling apart. Faith is two-fold. You can have faith and be faithful. True faith doesn't consider the natural facts and circumstances, faith considers what God says. We must walk in faith. Walking with God doesn't mean life will always be enjoyable, it must be a lifetime commitment. If you relationship is not growing then it's dying. Your relationship with your spouse is an indication of our relationship with God. If you don't have a good walk with God, it will show in how your treat your spouse. We must be committed to God in everything and strive to have all of the Fruit of the Spirit in our life. It's all or nothing. We need, Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Goodness, Faith, Meekness and Temperance. We can't pick and choose, we must have all of them to have the Fruit of the Spirit within us. This is a life time commitment and a daily walk to try and obtain. God is good.

Simple Days

Since Bob is out of town, we decided to have dinner at Friendly's. My mom is doing so much better and it was good to see her joking around with RJ and Ross. I'm still not feeling a 100%, put I'm pushing through it. I'm thankful for simple and silly nights like tonight. God is good.

Above And Beyond

Tonight during our Home Bible Study, RJ needed to go to sleep due to school tomorrow. Our Bible reading was from Ephesians chapter 3. We read that he can do exceedingly and beyond what we can ask or think. How many times do we limit God in our own mind? When we limit him, we limit how big our faith is. The God we serve speaks and it is. No matter what is going on in your life, God can do beyond what you need. Nothing is impossible for him.  God is good.

A Friend And A Cousin

My best friend has been doing a genealogy search on both of our families. She was here this past weekend and I thought it was funny that as we get older the more alike we look. Today she had a wonderful discovery. We are related. We are third cousins! I was so excited when I heard this. We have always had a strong bond, now we are eternally linked. Today is her birthday. I'm thankful God allowed our paths to cross and I'm thankful to call her my best friend. God is good.

Water Was Stirred

Today was one of those services where nothing went according to the planned order for the day. The choir began to sing about the name of Jesus and something happened. I could feel a shift take place in the atmosphere. Pastor came to the pulpit and said that the water was being stirred and it was time to jump in. He was referring to when the Bible talked about how those who were sick would sit by the water, waiting for it to stir. When this happened, if you jumped in, you would be healed. It was that kind of atmosphere. People were totally connecting with God all over the building. It was so powerful. It was if I could feel Angels standing next to me. I could not see them, but I knew they were there. That was the type of service it was today. Pastor called for those who were wanting to be filled with God's spirit to come to the left side and those who were sick to go to the right side. The alter was packed. When we all began to pray, people on the left began to receive God's spirit by evidence of speaking with other tongues. People on the right began to shout because they could feel the healing power of God move on their bodies. It was so powerful, we were having a taste of the latter day outpouring of God's spirit. I believe Bethel was taken to another level in what God has in store for his church. There was no preaching, just one huge alter call. Pastor did tell us that wherever we go we are a light for Christ. God goes with us, we are not alone. New York is facing some trying times. The news is talking about a bomb that went off in Manhattan. It was a small one and people were hurt. It's only a matter of time before a bigger one goes off. The church must be a light that shines in the darkness. We must not let fear rule and we must live with the peace of God in our life. I'm thankful for services like today. Today things were put into motion, today bodies were healed, today salvation took place. Today Jesus was high and lifted up and his train filled the temple. God is good.

A 40th Birthday Celebration

Today, Bob threw me a 40th birthday party. When he asked me what I wanted to do for my 40th birthday, I mentioned that I had never had a party. He decided to throw me a party.  When I walked into the party I was greeted with a lot of love. The place looked so beautiful. Having my mom and my best friend there was so  wonderful. There was a basket with notecards for people to write their memories and moments of me. I was to guess who said the words. Each story was so special and touched my heart. God has blessed me with a wonderful family from the church. I'm thankful to everyone who came and appreciate each of them so much. A huge thank you to the ladies who helped to set up and clean up. When I got home, I opened my gifts. Each gift and card was a delight to discover. At the end of the day, I said my goodbyes to my best friend. We ended the evening enjoying fellowship with Grammy, DJ and Jessica. A huge shout of love to of my life, my awesome husband for giving me the best birthday party. God is good.

Wonderful Surprise

This morning Bob said he wanted to take me out for breakfast, I love to eat, so I had no problem with this suggestion. When we walked into our favorite Diner, I saw the most wonderful surprise. My childhood best friend was waiting for me! We have not seen eachother in two years and I broke down crying when I saw her. What a wonderful birthday surprise! Much love to my husband for arranging this. God is good.

Fruit Of The Spirit Part 3

Again, I want to say thank you for all your prayers. The doctor called today to say that I am a bruised and am banged up a bit, but nothing serious. There are some other things, but nothing life threatening and I give thanks to the Lord for this. Tonight Bro. Cook taught Part three of "The Fruit Of The Spirit". His main text was taken from Galatians 5:22-23. He also used Hebrews 6:15, James 3:17 and Exodus 33:18-19. The focus tonight was in Longsuffering (patience), Gentleness and Goodness. A recap is that God is love and all the other are attributes of God. This is the fruit of the spirit and not fruits, because they all come together, you do not pick and choose which one you want. Longsuffering is also known as Patience. Abraham waited 25 years for his promise to come to pass. When God speaks to us, many times we look right away for it to come to pass. Abraham waited without complaining. He waited well, he endured, he was patient. Being patient doesn't simply mean waiting, it's how we wait that makes the difference. The true meaning of patience is to endure the journey without complaining. God promised something to Abraham that he wanted, not needed, but wanted. God could have done it right away, but he didn't and Abraham waited for it well. It's not an easy test to pass, to wait without complaint. We must remember that God has not forgotten, he will keep his promise. We live in a world where people have to wait all the time. We be nature are not patient people, it's a characteristic that we develop. The most impatient people are as disanointed as patient people, they just don't deal with it as well as patient people do. Everyone has a point where their patience will be tested. Ask God to speak to your heart and help you to respond right when a situation comes. A patient person is a sign of a mature person. A mature person knows how to process disappointment. Gentleness is kind, caring, generous with gracious compassion. Jesus was full of compassion when he saw people. Every miracle Jesus did was because he was moved with compassion. If you live by the sword you will die by the sword. If you are in leadership it's important to show gentleness. When you don't use gentleness, you lose your authority and their respect. Goodness is a quality of God. It is morality. The day we live in has become without morals. Nothing matters anymore, people do what they want without caring if it hurts another person. We must be careful to not be like this. We must be a stranger in this world and have morals in what we do in life. We need to be a light shinning in the darkness, where goodness in us shows compassion for others. People who do not do good are not a benefit for the Kingdom of Heaven. God wants us to be good people. We are not perfect and it's a journey. It's so important that we hear well done thy good and faithful servant. We are all on a journey and have lessons to learn. Let's hope we obtain all the fruit of the spirit on this journey. God is good.

Mr. X-Ray and Mrs. CT Scan

Before I give an update, I want to say thank you for all the prayers. Bob and I had so much peace last night in the ER that we knew that people were praying. What they thought was wrong, turned out to not be it, we are thankful for that. I was in the ER until about midnight last night. When my pain was manageable and it looked like the wait for an x-ray was going to be a long one, we decided to go home. Today, I went to see my primary doctor and she decided that I needed an X-ray and CT Scan immediately. I did as she asked and therefore most of my day was spent with Mr. X-Ray and Mrs. CT Scan. I looked at the people in the room around me and knew that my pain was nothing compared to the little boy sitting next to me who had cancer. Whatever is going on is something that I know God is in perfect control of. It's looking like the car backing into me in the grocery store may have caused some damage to my hip and other parts of my body. Nothing is for sure and I am just thankful to be home with my family and alive. I'm thankful to have a good doctor and I'm thankful that when I came home, dinner was on the table. I was even more thankful because it was my mom who cooked the dinner. She is getting better every day and that's a miracle from God. I hope to not have these scares where she has to cook again, but I am so glad she was well enough to cook a dinner, well enough to be with RJ. You can give thanks in all things. It may not be easy to give thanks for what is happening at the moment, but look around, there is something to be thankful for. God is good.

Hello From The ER

As I write I am in a hallway in the ER. Earlier today I had horrific pain and collapsed in my home. Bob rushed me to the ER. I'm still getting testing done and the pain is no joke. I'm glad my mom is home with RJ and glad my husband is with me. I'm not worried because God is in control. I will be honest and say I was pretty bad when I got here. I know many are praying and I have faith those prayers will get me home to my bed and out of the hospital. God is good.

He Will Finish The Good Work

This past Sunday Pastor Davis preached an outstanding sermon from Philippians 1:6. I'm not sure if he gave it a title or not, so I gave it one myself. He preached on how God will finish what he starts in you. Many of us have projects or hobbies that we start and have not yet finished it. Sometimes, we start a project and before we complete it, we start another. I thought of my husband Bob and how he is not like that. He will stay up until all hours of the night if he has to, to make sure he finishes what he started. Me, I will go to bed and finish it later, if not for my husband's help, later might not come. He's been good at teaching me to finish what I start. Many times we have difficulty finishing something we start because what starts out as fun, becomes work and we no longer want to keep on going. With God, it's not that way. He began a good work in you and will see it through until completion. We are a miracle people, his spirit is dwelling within us. We are where we are by the grace of God. He takes us from what we were and brings us to where we are today and where we are headed to. We are all EX-something. God has delivered us all from something. Miracles of deliverance can become work. When God delivered the Israelites from Egypt it was exciting until they reached the Red Sea. When they were trapped, all of a sudden it was not so easy and they wanted to go back to where they came from. They wanted to know why God did what he did and they were now it seemed stuck. We will all face problems and impossible situations. We must remember that if God began a good work in us, he will finish what he started. He didn't bring you this far to leave you where you are. He will deliver you. God has your hand, don't let go, hold on tight. Be encouraged and stop worrying. Keep your faith in him. He will complete the work he has started. Have faith in God. God is good.

Lemonade Results For SFC

Today during church we set aside time to be in remembrance of 911 and to pray. Pastor preached a very good sermon that I plan to share with you tomorrow. Once service ended the church family had its annual Sheaves For Christ picnic. We had dunk tanks, bouncy houses, an obstacle course race for the kids and RJ had an Lemonade Stand. The weather was perfect and the line for lemonade never stopped. When the day was done he sold out of his lemonade and because  of many who payed much more than the requested $1.00 for a cup, RJ raised $1,272.00 for SFC. He was a tired, but very happy little boy. There is joy to be found in giving. We are sanctified proud of him and thankful he has a heart for missions. God is good.

Blessed 40

Today, I turned 40. Bob brought me a delicious rainbow bagel for breakfast and at the end of the day took me to our favorite Diner. In between we helped RJ make his lemonade for tomorrow's Sheaves For Christ Lemonade Stand. Mom and Ross surprised me with a rose bush that was planted outside for me. They also gave me a beautiful wrap for the cooler weather. During the day presents came via the mail or e-mail. It made my 40th special. All the Facebook, Twitter, Texts and Phone Calls were appreciated and I could feel the love from all over the world. RJ made sure to give me lots of hugs and kisses. One text I received was from my new Chinese friend. I mentioned her in an earlier blog. She asked me to come by on her break, so I did. She had a gift for me and then asked if I could tell her more about Jesus and pray with her. Oh what a gift!! How does it feel to be 40? My body aches a little more, but my heart and soul is content. God truly has been so good to me.
