I started this blog several years ago as an outlet. To whomever reads my blog, I hope you are encouraged. I do my best to keep it short, so it can be a breath of fresh air.

Push Forward

It felt so good to be at Bethel today. There was a guest speaker who grew up at Bethel....the one and only Dean Byfield. Presently I am in NJ and do not have my notes, so I will do my best to do his excellent sermon justice. He started by talking about how hard he pursued his wife and then followed by giving an example of the man who started McDonalds at the age of 52 and by the time he died was a billionaire. This was accomplished because he kept on pushing and against all odds made his goal. When you are passionate about something you will do what it takes to make it happen. When we are passionate and focused on God, He will take care of all your needs along the way as you seek his face. The harder we push towards the God, the greater  he will respond. God is good.

Expectations

As I said in an earlier post, RJ will be entering 2nd grade. We recently received an email from his new teacher, welcoming him to the 2nd grade. He was pretty excited when he found out who his teacher was going to be and this took away an apprehension he had of starting school in 5 days. 5 DAYS!!!! Wow..Summer flew by quickly. We have great expectations and are confident his teacher will take RJ to a new level of learning. 1st grade was an amazing year and RJ grew in leaps and bounds. Our son attends an excellent school and I have no doubt I will be amazed again at his progress. Tomorrow we will attend church at Bethel and I will say this, I love my church and give thanks for the leadership there. Too many places are trying to bring the new trends into the sanctuary. I have no doubt Bethel is going to a new level and I know it's because the leadership keeps it real and does it the Bible way. God is good.

End of Summer

RJ and I are thrilled to be home. Time with my family was priceless and I'm so glad we went to see them. Now we are in the getting ready for school mode. I have a feeling 2nd grade is going to be an amazing year for RJ. Ross just started his first semester at Stoney Brook University. We are super proud of him and are confident he will do well. I'm looking forward to great things. God is good.

Old Time

Tomorrow we leave for NY. Tonight while on the way to church, RJ declared with a very grumpy face that he was done and wanted to go home. We both miss Bob very much and are really looking forward to getting into our normal routines. Tonight I had an old song that the Urshans used to sing called "The Devil Wears A Crooked Shoe". I like the Old Time Way. They were unique in every way and I like the path they forged. Give me that old time religion. God is good.

Road Trip

Over the past week my Dad and I along with RJ have driven to Idaho and back. The scenery has been breathtaking and the lack of traffic a relief. Now as I blog my dad is driving and we are in bumper to bumper traffic...it makes me glad I live on Long Island and do not have to deal with this type of madness on a daily basis. To those who are crammed into the Los Angeles area, there is a big world out there with open spaces, take a break and get out of the rat race for a bit. In two days I will fly home to my beloved husband, my nephew Ross and my dog Mozart. I miss home...and am glad to say this California girl has become a lover of New York. I will take a "rude" NYer over road rage L.A.any day. God is good.

Handiwork and Hugs

Today we took a glorious drive from Oregon to Idaho. The scenery that unfolded before me at times blew my mind. God's handiwork was on great display. The closer we came to Idaho the more excited RJ became. We are so happy to be with family and I'm thrilled RJ has been able to finally meet his Great  Grandparents. They have gone from being a picture on the wall to alive and full of love for him. Tomorrow we will attend church with them and I'm so glad for it. We miss Bob a lot and wish he was here. There is something about being with family who love you unconditionally. God is good.

Happy

We drove most of the day and arrived at dinner time at Aunt Robyn's house. It's been non-stop laugher since we got here. RJ is soaking it all up. I love being with them and seeing everyone has made the long drive worth it all. God is good.

A Red Tree and a Red Bridge

Early this morning we started on our way to Idaho to visit Grandma and Grandpa Brollier. We took the 1 highway and it was breathtaking! Along the way we stopped at The Big Sur to see some huge Redwood Trees and just now saw and drove over the Golden Gate Bridge. Our next stop is Aunt Robyn's House in Oregon. I'm thinking we will stop for the night once we get through all this traffic. So far the trip has been great and RJ's awe of seeing new things is worth the trip. God is good.

Snoopy Fun

Today we went to Knotts Berry Farm with  family and had a wonderful time. It was so nice to share my childhood favorites with my boy. For him the highlight was meeting Snoopy and panning for gold. He got so excited when after sifting sand for a very long time, there was gold at the bottom. The day was great and as crazy as it sounds we are going to Disneyland tomorrow. Time with family has been so wonderful and priceless to me. God is good.

Target Fun

Today we attended church at International Pentecostal Church, my home church. It was nice to show RJ where I spent many happy years attending. Bro. Butler preached a great sermon on keeping your focus and allowing God to be your guide.  We ended the night by stopping by Tara's work to say hello and pick up snacks for our trip to Knott's Berry Farm tomorrow.  In a few more days we will be heading for Idaho. I'm really missing my husband and wish he was here with us. God is good.

Choir Robe

I'm sitting in my regular spot on the front row of the church I grew up in. Like old times Mom is cleaning the church. I went to the prayer room and a flood of memories washed over me. For many years I would come to this sacred spot every Friday for my date with Jesus. I thanked God for keeping me and for where he has brought me to.  I could hear the prayers of the saints now gone on to be with The Lord whispering from the walls. I took a peek in the prayer room closet and was delighted to find the  choir robes still hanging there. I was tempted to put my old one on, but changed my mind. Many memories for me here, many prayers prayed. Tomorrow I will bring my son to the prayer room and give thanks to God for keeping his promises to me. It's always good to come home. I'm a different person, life does that. One thing has not changed, Jesus was my rock then and still is now. God had been faithful to me. God is good.

French Bliss

Today we took the kids to the science museum. I enjoyed watching RJ and Tally explore and discover the great things about space and NASA. In the evening time my best friend picked RJ and I up and while our kids played together, she and I went to dinner. We had the most delicious french food . Our taste buds were in a state of bliss. The best part was that we picked up where we left off two years ago. I'm thankful for our friendship that has lasted through life trials. I will admit, I'm really missing my husband. I'm glad I'm here, but I feel like part of me is missing. God is good.

Cousin Fun

Today was an RJ and Tally day. It amazes me that they have not seen each other in two years and yet they played as if they are together every day. From Legos to a pirate themed playground they laughed and played. It's been so wonderful to be with my family and watch RJ giggle until his side hurts. God is good.

Happy Palm Trees

RJ and I have arrived safely in California and we are so happy to be with family. It's going to be a wonderful time.

He Will Carry

At this present moment the media is abuzz with the sad news of the death of Robin Williams. I grew up watching him and he had a gift to make you laugh. It seems his smile hid a deep sadness inside. These moments make you stop and think about life and what is most important. We all struggle from time to time and I have had my moments of deep sadness. I'm thankful that I have a source to go to. Jesus has been my joy and peace in times that life would dictate, I should not be having any type of joy. I don't know if Robin Williams had a walk with God. I don't know what was happening when he passed away. I do know that for those of us among the living, there is a hope to be found in Christ Jesus. God is our refuge and strength, a fortress and strong tower. No matter how deep the despair, hold on to Jesus and He will carry you through every life storm. God is good.

The Church The Fullness of Christ

How do you describe a service like today? It was not one of those blowout services where everyone goes wild. From the start you could feel something in the atmosphere. It was like God was whispering in a still small voice hoping we would stop and listen. Today was a turning point service. It was a call to wake up and make sure your heart is in the right place with God. When Bishop gave his exhortation about taking God seriously, it was the beginning of the depth of God's call. Pastor Davis preached from his heart today with such an urgency. It was like God was beckoning to us to pay attention, because He is coming back very soon. Pastor Davis preached from Ephesians 1:17-23 with a focus on the 22nd verse. The Church is his body, The fullness of Jesus Christ. When Jesus died on the cross, he didn't die for a corporation, he died for a church he was building that the gates of hell could not prevail against. The way for the world to see the greater revelation of Jesus Christ is through the church. In this present day the greatest manifestation of Jesus is going to be through The Church. The devil knows he can't touch Jesus Christ, he seeks to discredit the church and minimize it, if he can do this, he can reduce the impact it has on the world. Today anything considered to be Christian is under attack. We must not be asleep in the light, we must be awake and aware. In I Corinthians 11:22, Paul is asking if those who say they are followers of Christ, if they despise the church? Your actions reveal if you despise the church or not. Do you follow the word of God? You can say you love the church, but your actions say something else. You can't be saved without the church. There is one Lord, one Faith, and one Baptism and that is in Christ Jesus. To love Jesus, you must love the church. If you don't love the church, you don't love what Jesus loves. The church is a body of many believers. We are all imperfect and yes there are hypocrites. They were around from the very beginning. If you focus only on the negative and imperfections of your brother, your focus is on the wrong place. You must keep your eyes on Jesus Christ. When we are one body, when one suffers, we all suffer. When one is victorious, we are all victorious. We must be unified, we are the church. There is great danger in not giving the church the love it deserves. We show our love by our faithfulness to the house of God. If you can go to work every day and be one time, you can make it to the house of God, the church is important. If we are going to make it in these last days, we must have more of God in us. If you are truly living for God it's like you have a bullseye on you, the devil will take aim and attack. Fear not for God is with you and no weapon formed against you will prosper. Remember whatever you love, you will make a way to get to it. Pastor then touched on tithing. We pay our tithes, and give our offerings. When we don't pay our tithes, we are robbing from God. When we pay our tithes and give, God will pour out his blessings upon you and will always make a way for you. Pastor ended by asking what we focus on, because what you focus on will reveal who you really are. Jesus was calling out to us today. He calls out to you today. Will you surrender yourself and place him first, or will you continue to do your own thing. Pay attention! We are at the end, Jesus is coming soon. God is good.

Wipe Every Tear

The topic of Heaven has been coming up a lot lately. RJ is really developing his walk with God and his questions are becoming more and more in depth. Tonight in our Bible reading, we read from Revelations 21 and 22. We figured it would be good to read the description of Heaven to him from the Bible. He was thrilled when we got to the part about the gemstones in the foundation and walls. He LOVES minerals and rocks. Heaven just became very cool for him. We also read about there will be no tears in Heaven, God will wipe every tear. What a promise! When I hear the news of all that is happening in this world, Heaven is becoming so much more desirable and precious to me. I want to go to Heaven, I want my family to go to Heaven, I want you the reader of this blog to go to Heaven. God is good.

A Day of Rest

Bob has been saying for a while all he wanted to do was take a walk in the woods and take a rest. Today we took RJ, Noah and Joe Joe for a walk through the New Jersey Pine Barrens. The weather was perfect and it was a very peaceful and restful time. After our walk they went for a swim in the lake and we ended our evening at the 4H fair with Grammy. We ran into a lot of family and it was good to see familiar faces. A time of rest is always needed and I'm glad Bob was able to find it today while taking a walk through the woods. God is good.

79 MPH

Yesterday I talked about the cat with her kittens and a duck. Here is a picture
Today Bob took RJ, Noah and Joe Joe to the Lake while I enjoyed Target time and lunch with my niece Taylor. Tonight we took RJ and Joe Joe to Ocean City to ride some rides. RJ wanted to see how fast Joe Joe could pitch. When the lady handed him the ball she acted like it was unlikely he will register because he's only 8 years old. We know better and couldn't help but smile at her look of shock when he threw at 79 Miles Per Hour. Here is a picture to back it up.
I'm thankful for simple times like this. God is good.

3 Kittens and a Duck

We are visiting my Mother in law for a few days. She has a new duck and her cat had 3 kittens. The duck thinks the cat is his mom and the kittens are his siblings. He sleeps all cuddled up with the kittens. When the momma cat goes for a walk, it follows right along. It is the cutest sight I have ever seen. God is good.

History Repeats

I learned something new today. When the Temple in Israel was destroyed, for both times it was the same exact date. Tomorrow is day of Lamentations for the Jewish People. We decided to read from Lamentations tonight and it was almost as if Bob was reading a commentary about what is happening in this present day. History is repeating itself once again. More and more nations are turning their back on Israel. Tomorrow they will weep in remembrance for the destruction that took place to a very holy place. I believe that God is coming back soon and I also believe the new temple will be built in record speed. These things do not cause fear in me. I look towards heaven and say come Lord Jesus. I know that those that sow in tears shall reap in joy. God is good.

Joey Needs Jesus

We had a guest speaker who is originally from Bethel. Bro. Linder now pastor's in South Carolina. He is one of the funniest preachers I have ever heard. He can take something out of the box and make it a great sermon. Today's sermon was "Joey Needs Jesus". He preached from Romans 8:1. Joey was a 6 year old little boy who was sitting in the kitchen and his mom was baking cookies. He was waiting patiently for the cookies. When his mom put them out to cool, she told him not to touch the cookies or he would be burned. When she left the room, instead of waiting for her to come back, he grabbed the cookies and severely burned his hand. If he had obeyed his mother, he would not have ever been burned. Bro. Linder told this story during his sermon. His point was that we all need Jesus. Without Jesus in our life, we are going to sin and make mistakes. James 1:15 tells us that every man is tempted and when we disobey, it is a dangerous thing. In life we tend to think that since there is now no condemnation, we can do anything we want. We act as if the blood Jesus shed on Calvary gives us a blank check to do anything we like. There is so much more to it than that. We need to be baptized in his name and filled with his spirit. Once this is done, it's not enough, we need to follow in obedience to Christ and his word. Just because there is no condemnation, that does not mean that you can do anything you want, when you step out of the will of God, you are in disobedience and will pay the consequences. With Jesus in your life you are living with conviction and that sets you free from condemnation. To be an overcomer, you cannot just talk about the spirit of God you must walk in his spirit. Ask yourself what you are more after, things of the flesh or things of the spirit. Joey needs Jesus because with Jesus in his life, he will be able to overcome temptation. When he overcomes temptation, God will reward him with many wonderful things. God is good.

Late Nights

We have been allowing RJ to stay up way past his regular bedtime. He thinks its because it is summer. He's correct in part, when, really I'm trying to get him adjusted to California time. I will be taking RJ to California to see family and to meet his Great Grandparents on the Brollier side, for the first time. We are pretty excited about it. Thus, to elevate the horrible jet lag that takes place when you are in that big of a time change, I'm letting him stay up later than normal. It is a bit early to start since we don't leave for another week, but hey....it's summer. God is good.
