Pizza Angel

RJ likes to watch Veggie Tales. Most of the time, there will be a silly song with Larry that will be put in the middle of whatever the story is about. One of them was called Pizza Angel. RJ thinks it's super funny and today he decided to do a little video of his version of Pizza Angel from Veggie Tales. I hope you enjoy, it's good to laugh. God is good.
On a side note: Today's fast was Daniels and it was the last day of our 31 days of prayer and fasting.

The Natural Man, The Carnal Man, The Perfect Man

Tonight Pastor Davis started out his lesson asking us to raise our hands if we thought we were a Natural man, Carnal Man and/or a Perfect man. Most of us raised our hands for the first two and very few raised our hands for the latter. He then read from I Corinthians 2:14-16 and proceeded to teach a lesson regarding these three in a spiritual sense. The Natural Man does not receive the things of the spirit. God is not in control of the natural man's life. The things of God are foolishness in their eyes and there is little to no tolerance for godliness or holiness. There is no comprehension for spiritual things. II Peter 2:12- they speak evil and are spiritually dead. The Carnal Man is an individual who calls themselves a Christian but is not walking after Christ. A child of God who is not spiritually mature. I Corinthians 3:1-3, they claim to be spiritual but live like the natural man. When push comes to shove the soul or body makes the final decision. Fleshly body and human will are still in full control. There is immaturity in their walk with Christ. They are never satisfied, Jesus is the resident of their heart, but not the President of their life. There are two things a Carnal Christian never does, they never surrender to God and never grow up and face responsibility. The Perfect Person in Ephesians 4:13-15 is mature and fully developed, they are a fully converted disciple of Christ. They are living by the spirit not the soul or body. They obtain their sight and wisdom by prayer and reading God's word. James 1:5 and Psalms 119:98-100 are examples of this. They strive to keep God's ways and commandments. They will seek wise counsel from someone who knows God. Every child of God needs to have someone in their life that will shake their finger at them and give good Godly counsel even when they don't want to hear it. Also a perfect person will go to the Holy Ghost in prayer for guidance. There are three ways to understand Personal Perfection; 1)Positional Perfection, right now ready to see the Lord. 2) Practical Perfection is living in submission and obedience in our life to God. Holiness is a way of life. 3). Prophetic Perfection, we shall be like Him. He then asked us to raise our hands again. This time we raised our hands on the latter and kept our hands down for the first two.God is good. On a side note: Today's fast was skip two meals and tomorrows(the last day)is Daniels Fast. Tomorrow (Friday) is also our last day of 5am prayer.

Happy Songs

Today I woke up determined to fill my day with songs that put a pep in my step and a smile on my face and heart. On the way to school, I decided to play songs from my Tye Tribbett playlist. RJ and I had a real good time jamming to "Nobody" and "Stayed On You", we had it on repeat. Since today was Martin Luther King JR Assembly day, I stayed to attend. I really enjoyed the assembly and I have to say was thrilled with the wonderful singing performance put on by all the children and especially the 1st grade students. I loved every single minute of it. I filled my day today with music that kept my heart light and my focus on the positive things. Circumstances have not changed, but I made a choice to keep my focus up. I think I experienced today that joy Bro. Loammi Diaz preached about on Sunday. It was something beyond feelings, it was given from the Lord. God is good. On a side note: Today's fast was skip one meal, tomorrows is skip two meals.

Count Your Blessings

Today was one of those days. I am sure you have had them. You wake up and feel overwhelmed by everything. I'm tired of the cold, and wish I had a day where there were no problems taking place in our life. I will be honest and say I spent my morning on my face crying my heart out to God. After I poured my heart out to God, I then called my mom. Yes..I called my mommy, because just hearing mom's voice and I feel better. Then, when I picked RJ up from school, it was like everything melted away. There was my sweet boy arms outstretched and a big smile on his face. I realized once again I have so much to be thankful for. The song goes to count your blessings name them one by one. I spent most of the day counting my sorrows one bye one and forgot all about my blessings. Tonight, I thanked God for my husband, RJ, Ross and yes..the dog. I thanked God for the oil that was delivered and we have heat on a very cold night. We are human, we have our moments..I'm just glad I was able to snap out of it and remember to count my blessings. God is good. On a side note: Today's fast was eat nothing from 6am to 6pm, tomorrows is skip one meal. 5am prayer is to be at home since snow is predicted.

Tonight we were reading about the story of Moses. When we got to the part where Moses wandered in the desert until he reached the land of Midian, RJ wanted to know if there was a sandstorm like in the movie he saw the other day. Bob told him there probably was a sandstorm, since Moses was walking through the desert. I got to thinking about how in life we have seasons. Sometimes the season we are in, is as if we are walking through a dry and barren desert. We are leaving the old things behind and walking towards a new direction. Sometimes on our journey we will experience a sandstorm. Even though Moses may have faced obstacles, he found himself at a well and at that well, he was sustained until God gave him direction. Don't let the sandstorms of life stop you from reaching your well, your resting place. For when you reach your resting place, God will provide for you and will speak to you. God is good. On a side note: Todays' fast was Daniel's fast, tomorrows is no food (health permitting) from 6am to 6pm.

Rejoice In The Lord Always

Today's church service was literally electrified from the first note played. Due to our fasting and praying together, it doesn't take us a couple of songs to become focused on God. I was thinking to myself, this place is going to go wild before we even get to the next song. The place went wild and then calmed down and then when the choir came up the anointing was so strong that if you walked into the room it was like a physical force that you could feel. This is our last week of prayer and fasting. I am convinced that next Sunday is going to be so intense that something major in the supernatural realm is going to take place. We had a guest speaker today, Bro. Loammi Diaz. I like to hear him preach because he's smart, anointed and very funny. True to form, he made us laugh pretty hard, but also preached a sermon that was straight and true. His title was, " Rejoice In The Lord Always." His main text was from Philippians 4:4-7. The first part of the sermon was the bases on the context of a word. One word can have many different meanings. For the most part when we hear the word joy we think of joy in the emotion sense. Joy is usually classified as a feeling. When the Bible in this particular sense is talking about Joy it's not in the sense of a feeling, it's a command from God. Feelings are involuntary and change over a daily bases. Feelings are caused by the circumstance and situation that is happening to you at the very time. When the Bible commands us to rejoice always, it does not mean that we are not going to feel sad, angry or hurt. Rejoicing always goes beyond emotions, it's what is there to sustain you when you are going through a hardship. This joy is not dependent on your circumstances. When you have the spirit of God in you, then the fruit of his spirit is in you. Joy is a part of this fruit of the spirit. When the Bible says to Rejoice in the Lord, this joy is not based on circumstances or happiness. This joy is based on a relationship with God who is eternal and does not change due to circumstances. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, he is a rock. This joy is not something you feel, it's something you know. This joy refreshes our soul and heart. After everything you go through, you will still have joy. He then mentioned a song, Blessed Assurance. It's an old song, but I love it and you can listen to it here. With God's joy you can still sing, dance and shout no matter what is going on your life. When you do this, you are stomping on the devils head. This sermon was very encouraging and he then shared some trials he went through 2 years ago. He didn't go into detail but said that he realized that everything was going to be all right because God tells us to be anxious for nothing. He knows what you have need of and in Him you will find joy. God is good. side note: Fasting today was skip one mean, tomorrows is Daniel's Fast...also we will be having 5 am prayer this week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday-weather permitting.

Boys Day

Today Bob, Ross and RJ took Bro. Wilt to the city. They made a boys day out of it and they went to The Metropolitan Museum of Art and ended the night with dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant. I stayed home; did the laundry and enjoyed my time of rest. Ross made me super happy because he saved some of the food for me and my hubby got major bonus points because he brought home some wonderful Ethiopian bread (Teft)for me to eat. I enjoyed every bite! It snowed again today and as I look out the window it looks like we may get more snow. I am a bit done with the snow. I will leave you with the song RJ was singing tonight. "If Salvation was a thing money could by, the rich would have it, the poor would die. It's so high, it's so wide, it's so low, you gotta go right through the door." God is good. Side note: Fasting today was from 6am to 6pm and tomorrows is skip one meal.

RJ's Gift From the Heart

This morning RJ wanted to do something special for the poor. He was so excited about Bro. Wilt being here that he wanted to give something to help. He proceeded to write a letter and left it out on the table for our missionary friend to find when he awoke this morning. I love my boy's tender heart and I know he is changing the world around him.You will see it's not much, but he has been saving money to give to the poor and this is the first opportunity he has had to do this. To some it may not be much but to God it's a great sacrifice and a gift from the heart. Please see picture below. God is good. On a side note: Fasting today was Daniel's and tomorrow is no food (health permitting) from 6am-6pm.

Native American Indian Outreach

Tonight Bro. Stan Wilt spoke about his burdan and desire to reach the Native American Indians in North America. In North America there are 7 million Native American Indians, many of them live on Reservations. He gave some very unsettling statistics on a particular Indian Reservation of a population of 42,000. 80% live below the poverty level, 90% are unemployed, 72% do not have a High School education and the highest cause of death for ages 24 and under is drunken driving. Abuse of all types are common in the homes. It was clear that Bro. Wilt has a true love and desire to bring hope to these populations. So many times we hear the story about poverty in 3rd world countries and we don't realize that there is a lof of that in America as well. Bro. Wilt's purpose is to travel North America reaching into the Native American Indian culture and community. He wants to share with them the life changing power of Jesus Christ. In Jesus you can have hope and you are worth a great price in the eyes of God. He is going to start one home at a time and one life at a time. When someone realizes the great potential they have and they began to believe it, their life is changed. When hope is birthed in the heart of man, the need to abuse substances and others goes away. We are excited about what he is doing and are confident that the fire of God's love will break the chains that hold them bound. God is good. On a side note: Fasting today was skip two meals, tomorrows is Daniels fast. Also tomorrow-Friday is 5 am prayer at the church.

Snow and a Missionary

This week we have the honor of hosting Bro.Wilt, who is a missionary to the Native American Indians of Northern America. It's been a while since we have had a missionary in our home, so we are very excited he is with us. We have enjoyed hearing his stories of his time in Africa and of his burden for the Native American Indians. Tomorrow night he will be the guest speaker at Bethel and we look forward to hearing him speak. Due to a foot of snow that accumulated since yesterday, there was no school today. RJ was thrilled to have a snow day and had a blast playing in the snow. He was disappointed to find that the snow only reached to the middle of his legs and not his waist, however I am glad we didn't get that much snow. Tomorrow will be back to normal and we will bundle up and brave the very cold weather. God is good. One a side note: Fasting today was skip one meal, tomorrow is skip two meals.

Janus 2014

I am sitting here looking out my window watching what seems to be a neverending snow fall. This morning when we dropped RJ off at school, it had just started to snow. Now 12 hours later it is still snowing. I will not lie and say I am excited about it. RJ and Ross on the other hand are thrilled and have already gone for a sled ride, built a fort and decided to take a glide through the snow on the swing set. RJ is even more excited about the thrill of using his red shovel in the snow in the morning. He wants me to take a picture of him in the middle of it tomorrow morning to see how high it gets. He's predicting it will be to his waist, at the rate this snow is falling and the fact he is only 6 years old, he might be right. Either way, we are making the best of it, keeping warm and enjoying the company of one another. God is good. On a side note: Fasting today was eat nothing (health permitting) from 6am to 6pm. Tomorrow is skip one meal.

5 AM Prayer

Today was the kick off for 5 am Prayer taking place over the next two weeks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. RJ really wanted to go and since today was a holiday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr (whom I believe if he were alive today would like the changes that have come to pass.)we told RJ he could attend. We all woke up early this morning and attended the prayer. I was surprised at the large turn out and not surprised at the liveliness of the prayer taking place. There is no doubt in my mind that prayers today moved heaven and shook hell. For the rest of the week, I am sure Bob and I will take turns attending the prayer meetings since RJ does have school and we don't think it would be wise for him to fall asleep during class. All in all it was a good start to our two weeks of 5 am prayer. God is good. On a side note: Fasting today was Daniels, tomorrows is eat nothing from 6am to 6pm (health permitting).

The New Normal

It's clear that the fast the church is embarking on combined with prayer is having and impact on our church services. If you thought last week's service was electrified, today's was transforming. Pastor Davis preached a relevant sermon for today's world. His title was " The New Normal" and he preached from Isiah 43:18-19. I was able to write a half page of notes and then RJ climbed into my lap and fell asleep. I will be attempting to write my blog tonight off of my husband's notes. The world is experiancing a new normal in weather patterns, technology, economics and politics. The new normal in social values and morality combined with what is acceptable and unnacatable are very differant then whan they were several years ago. We are seeing an extreme shift in social and cultural norms. What was normal in the past is not normal anymore. In I Timothy 3:1 the Bible warns us of perilous times. The devil is aware that time is running short and God's return is soon. Pastor then went on to ecourage the church to be strong and rise up. Even when the world is changing in such a rapid state and what God's words says to be right is no longer "right" in the eyes of society and what society says is "right" in their eyes is not "right" in the eyes of God. We are to stand strong and rise up, to be a stronger light in this world. He then said to "Get right or get left". It's time to be sure of who we are in God. We can no longer rely on the prayers of others, but must have our own sound walk with God. Our New Normal is to see signs and wonders follow us. Our New Normal is to walk in the miraculous and be overcomers. Our church will be praying and fasting until the atmosphere is changed, until the world around us is changed. We are going to create our own spiritual earthquake like in Acts 4:1. We are on a jouney in our walk with God and in 2014 walking into a new level in Christ. He then said that the cloud is moving and we will move with the cloud. I'm not even sure if he stopped in the middle of his sermon or what, but the power and presence of God was so strong and pastor began to encourage us. We are all going through some things, but from now on there was going to be a New Normal in our lives. All the struggles and heartache, God was going to make a change for us. People were weeping, some were shouting and others were practiclaly running to the alter. The alters' were jam packed as we were reaching out to God and claiming a change. We are to be a light set up on a hill. The more this world is changing around us, the closer we must cling to Jesus Christ. Sunday services are becoming so full of the presence of God, I ask you to come and visit us at Bethel United Pentecostal Church, located at 357 Jericho Turpike, Old Westbury, NY. The spirit of God is alive and moving. The atmosphere is such that you will leave changed. I have no doubt that in the services to come that great things are going to start happening in our midst. I also believe that as we leave, that same strong presence of the Lord will go with us as a cloud and fill the room where we stand. The New Normal is going to make our own personal worlds shake and be upsidedown. I want to make a positive impact on those around me. When the devil throws things at me, I am going to shake it off, put it under my feet and walk in victory. God is good. On a side note: Fasting today was skip one meal, tomorrow is Danil's Fast- also for the rest of January we will be having 5am prayer on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You are welcome to joing us as we pray together in unity.

Born For This-uplifting

Bob arrived home late last night. I always feel a sense of relief when I hear him come in. I just sleep better when he is home. Today was a teacher prep day so RJ did not have school. We decided to make it a play-date with one of his friends. During the play-date the mom was referred by someone via text to listen to a song. The song moved me in a very deep way. I liked it so much I went home and downloaded it to my phone so I can listen to it and be encouraged. Esther has always been my hero in the Bible and this song is based on her. When God puts you in a situation, He will equip you and you will be able to make it because just like Esther she was born for a special time to save her people. I share the song with you here. "Born For This" sung by Mandisa. The music video is set to one of my all time favorite film adaptations of the story of Esther, " One Night With The King", based on the book written by T.F. Tenney. God is good. On a side note: Today's fast was Daniel's, tomorrows is no food from 6am to 6pm (health permitting).

Purpose and Power of Fasting: A Hunger for God

Tonight Pastor Davis taught a lesson on Purpose and Power of Fasting: A Hunger for God. I have grown up in church my whole life and I don't remember such an indepth teaching on prayer and fasting. I really appreciated the lesson tonight. In Daniel 9:3-4 we read about how Daniel prayed and fasted for the release of the people. God not only answered by delivering the people, but he also gave him visions of what is to come in the end times. Pastor then gave us 4 separate venues of fasting that the Bible teaches every Christian to do. 1. A Personal Fasting Schedule. Everyone on their own time and in private needs to have a personal fast day. It can be however you feel it should be and do it on a regular bases. When your fasting is being done, it should not be done in a way that the whole world knows you are fasting that day. When you do it like this, that is the only reward you will receive. When done in secret, then God will reward you openly for all to see.Pastor admonished us that we are not to be prideful in our fasting. If we do it in a way for the whole world to see, then we are trying to lift ourself up. He gave Luke 18:9-14 as an example. 2. Spirit led fast. These are times when God will impress upon you to fast for a specific need or situation. We are also to make sure that we are praying when we fast. If we fast with out praying then we are not having an affect, we are just not eating. Nehemiah 1:4 9:1-3 Daniel 9:3,20 Jonah 3,Luke 2:37 Acts 10:30 Acts 14:23 and II Corinthians 7:5 are all examples of this. 3. Corporate Fast. This is when the church or a group come together united in prayer and fasting for a specific amount of time- for example..Bethel is doing this for the month of January. When we do this, it must be in a spirit of repentance, obedience and submission. Isaiah 58:3-8 and Jeremiah 14:12. During this time of approaching God through submission and obedience we are allowing God to reveal things to us. When we are denying our flesh our spirit is able to respond in a greater way and we can hear God better. I Samuel 7:5-6 Ezra 8:21-23 Nehemiah 9:1-3 Joel 2:15-16 and Jonah 3:5-10 are examples given in the Bible. Fasting is also a time when we become a target for the devil. Matthew 4:2-3. When we pray and fast we turn hell upside down and Satan will start attacking us because he is afraid that if you continue, you will become victorious. 4. At times there will be a crisis and we will need to fast and pray for that specific situation. This caused God to move on our behalf. When we fast in secret the battle is an unseen battle, but the victory is seen and revealed for everyone to see. As long as week keep on praying and fasting, know that a reward will come and God will bless beyond what we expect. Pastor Davis also mentioned a Sermon titled "Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God." written by Jonathan Edwards. It is noted as his most famous sermon he ever preached. The power of God fell mihgtly when he preached this sermon. This was a result of 3 days of prayer and fasting. God is good. Side note: Today's fast was skip two meals. Tomorrows fast is Daniels Fast

Catching up, laughter, and Columbian Food

RJ was beyond excited that Ross was back home and all he wanted to do was spend the evening building LEGO's with him. Since Bob is still out of town, I decided to make this a great opportunity and have dinner with my good friend Christinea. We like to be adventurous and try different foods. She knew of a wonderful place and decided to introduce me to Colombian food. I enjoyed every bite. Most of all we enjoyed catching up with each other. I'm thankful for her and the friendship that we have. She is more than a friend to me, she is a sister. A simple evening and my belly is full and my heart is full as well. God is good. Side note: Today's fast was skip one meal. Tomorrows is skip two meals.

RJ was pretty excited that Ross was coming back to NY. We are glad that he had a wonderful time getting to know his dad as well as other family members. I am grateful to my family in CA, for spending time with him and creating wonderful memories. I don't know the path that Ross will be on in the future, but for now, he is here with us in NY. We have become very fond of him and are thankful that he is with us. God is good. On a side note: Fasting today was nothing to eat from 6am to 6pm (health permitting). Love Beyond The Stars

Tonight Bob told RJ he loved him to the dog star and back, even to the universe. RJ was quiet and then said..." Well, Dad that's not good because that means you love me more than Jesus." Bob was quiet and said.." No...I love Jesus the most." RJ then replied" Well..that can't be because the stars go on forever and no man has ever found the end of you have to love Jesus to the universe." He was Bob quickly agreed. I love my smart boy. God is good. Side note: Today's fast was Daniel's, Tomorrow's is total fast from 6am to 6pm (health permitting)

3 Essentials of Life

Today's church service was electrified. By the time the choir was into their second song the entire congregation had broke out in total freedom of worship. I was beginning to wonder if Bro. Walker was going to get to preach. He did preach and the electricity in the place continued and by the time alter call came, the alter was packed and extremely electrified. I can tell you this, where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty and today at Bethel, there was great liberty. Bro. Jonathan Walker is on of my all time favorite preachers and today's sermon was right up there with some of his best. His topic was 3 Essentials of Life. 1. Someone to love. 2. Something to do. 3. Something to look forward to. He of course applied it into spiritual terms. 1. Someone to love is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the essence of love. He quoted from Mark 12:29-31,John 15:13-14, John 13:14-15. Jesus loves us with an everlasting love. When we love Him, our life has meaning and purpose. Bro. Jonathan also suggested we read Psalms 119. It it dedicated to the power of the word of God. You will find it says that in obeying God is not a burden it is; honey, light, ultimate treasure, freedom and great joy. He then started singing verses to "Take this whole world, but give me Jesus.." An old hymn that I remember growing up singing in church as child. 2. Something to do. God sent the church to be a vehicle to a lost and dying world. Contrary to how society is trying to make the church seem, it is not restrictive. We have free will are and are not living a life of bondage. He then started to sing " No more shackles, no more chains..I am free.." By this time pretty much the whole congregation was on their feet and it was seeming that the place was going to break out into praise and worship. I don't even know how he managed to finish his sermon. He went on to talk about how Paul was in jail but spoke about in Christ we are made free,in Him we have liberty,Galatians 5:1. 3.Something to look forward to. John 14 tells us that Jesus is speaking about preparing a place for us, Heaven. In heaven, no more sorrow, no more pain and no more suffering. In Christ we have hope. Hope goes beyond happiness, it's not a feeling, it's sustaining, a never ending flame that shines through the darkest night. By the time he finished the alters were packed and the liberty of worship was amazing. I smiled to myself and thought, Bethel is one place that is very alive and full of the liberty of the Holy Ghost. I'm thankful that in this day and age, we still have the freedom to lift our hands in worship and have a good time in the lord. By service end, five were baptized in Jesus Name. God is good. Side note: Today's fast as skip one meal. Tomorrow's is a Daniels fast

Happy Dreams

This morning RJ really slept in because he was having a very happy dream. He says he doesn't remember it, but just knows it was super happy. We are so thankful that God has blessed us with a sweet and happy child. We are also thankful for Ross. Right now he is having a happy time getting to know his dad. RJ misses Ross a great deal and is looking forward to his return. God does all things well and is so good.
Side note: today's fast was Daniels and tomorrow is fast from 6am-6pm health permitting.

The Compassionate Savior

Tonight Bro. Tom Vayna taught an indepeth sermon on The Compassionate Savior. He first sang a song called Come to Jesus that fit his lesson perfectly. The Bible shows us that Jesus was very compassionate. In the Bible when they would describe Jesus as having great compassion they would use a Greek word that literally meant his compassion was one that would move him to uncontrollable sobbing. Jesus felt deeply for those around him. Bro. Tom then gave several examples of when Jesus had great compassion. 1. He healed on the Sabbath. Exodus 20:8-11 2. He healed a Leper in Mark 1:40-44, when he did this he touched him. This made him "unclean", yet he still touched him and healed him. 3. Jesus healed a servant of an oppressor of the Jews, a Centurion. He broke down walls of prejudice. 4. He raised a widows son from the dead. He touched every spectrum of society. He wanted to show that no matter your background he cared for you. 5.He granted pardon for an adulterous women. 6.He had compassion for a Gentile in Matthew 15:21-28. I learned something new. In the Bible you will read where Jesus would use the word Woman when addressing a female. The word used actually translates to My Dear Lady. He was using a kind term when speaking to the females. This was huge for me, because so many times you will read Woman and think wow..and yet, he was really saying, "My Dear Lady". OH what a gentleman he is! 7. He had compassion for the crippled in Luke 13:10-17. Then Bro. Tom talked about the importance of repentance. He said that miracles and healing are wonderful, but repentance leads to salvation. God is good. Side note: Fasting for today was to skip two meals, tomorrow will be Daniels Fast.

Ross and His Dad

This morning Ross boarded a plane headed to California. When he arrived at the airport he was met by his dad. It has been 15 years since he last saw him. He sent me a text from the plane when he landed and I could tell he was very excited to see his dad. Already he has been sending me pictures of them together and in every picture his face is beaming. I am hoping this will be a wonderful time between father and son. In regards to the cold, I am so glad we reached the 20's today. God is good. Scaredy Cat

Over the past few days it has been super cold. I do not remember ever being this cold in my lifetime. It's the kind of cold that seeps into your house and no matter how warm you have your home, you can feel the cold coming through the walls. Due to this extreme cold, we have been trying to coax a stray cat that has become "our cat" as in we feed him and he keeps the mice away. Once in a while he will come into the house to look around but will leave before you can shut the door. Over the past few days we have been holding the door open for as long as we can stand it, trying to convince him to come inside from the cold. He is sleeping in a little shelter we made for him, but we know he must be cold. Tonight, he actually came inside the door, but when I went to shut it, he quickly ran out. It was so sad to see that he truly was cold and a warm place we being offered, but he allowed his fear to keep him outside. How many times do we make the choice of the scaredy cat? God is offering us something so much better and due to fear and lack of trust, we miss out on something so much better. We will continue to try and get our Tabby cat to come inside. For now, he is a scaredy cat and sad to say, is out in the cold. God is good. On a side note: Today's fast was to not eat (health permitting) from 6am to 6pm. Tomorrows is skip one meal.

Desire to Help

RJ has been deeply impacted by what has happened to our neighbors home. He has a desperate desire to do something to help. He offered to let them stay in our home and was happy to know they already had a place to go, but still felt like he needed to do something. Several people have brought clothing by and we are so grateful for the kindness of our friends to our neighbors. Still, RJ has been trying to think of what he could do to help. Tonight as he was saying his prayers, he asked God if he could help rebuild their home. We are going to make his request made known and I am sure that when it comes time to paint inside, they will give him a small part. I'm amazed at his tender and gentle heart. God is good. Side note: Today's fast was a Daniel's Fast and tomorrow is abstaining from food (health permitting) from 6am to 6pm.

Jesus and a Fire

Today we had a guest speaker, Bro. Sanders who is pastoring a church in Coney Island, NY. He preached what I like to call old time preaching. Very rarely will you hear a preacher who will preach outright about sin, hell and the need for salvation. He talked about how Jesus Christ came to save the lost. God robed himself in flesh to be the one to save us from our sin. We are all sinners in the need for God's grace. It does not matter how good of a person you are or what your background is, we are all in need of a savior. It was a passionate sermon reaching out to express our need of Christ, who came to save the lost. Today's fast was skip a meal and tomorrows will be a Daniel's Fast. On our way home today from church we saw that the entire street was blocked off with firetrucks and we could see smoke coming from what looked like our house. As we got closer the whole street was full of firetrucks and fireman. We were sadden to see that our next door neighbors house had caught on fire. They lost everything in the fire. We opened our home to them and for the rest of the evening we had firefighters, the Red Cross and countless other people coming and going. The entire neighborhood was outside their houses showing support. They have been so kind to us and over the years we have become like family. Our hearts break for them over the loss of their home and everything inside. We give thanks with them that no life was lost and that is the most important of all. Things can be replaced but a life can not. I ask you keep them in your prayers. God is good.

Sweet Wonder

Yesterday my newest nephew was born. I went to see him today at the hospital and he is as sweet as can be. One second of holding him and he had my heart wrapped around his little finger. I gazed at him in amazement of God's handiwork. This sweet baby boy unique in his own way and a perfect masterpiece of the creator. I think I could have sat there and stared at him all night. Today's weather was in the 20's and it felt a bit warm, tomorrow will be in the 40's and I can't believe that it's going to feel hot to me. Today's fast was only water from 6am to 6pm and tomorrow is skip one meal. I am looking forward to being in church tomorrow and praising the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. God is good.

Blizzard 2014

Last night and into this morning we had blizzard like conditions. I don't think I have ever seen it snow like it was snowing. RJ and Ross had a good time playing in it once the sun came back out and it was enjoyable. However I was happy to come back inside my warm home and gave thanks for the warmth. Today's fast was a Daniels fast and tomorrow is to be just water (health allowed) from 6am to 6pm. I have to say it has been super cold, tonight it's going to drop to 3 degrees. I don't remember being in such cold weather. This California girl is yearning for the warm flip flop weather, but I shall be content and enjoy the beauty of the snow sparkling on the ground. God is good.

Skipping to Noah

Today was the first day of our fasting and we were to skip two meals. Tomorrow is to be a Daniel's fast followed by nothing on Saturday from 6am to 6pm. As I type the temperature is falling outside and we are having a major snow storm. All is well in our home and I will share with you from our Bible reading tonight. We were reading about Adam and Eve and RJ became very distressed and started to beg us to stop and read something else. When we asked him why, he replied," It's making me so sad because they are disobeying God and I just can't take it anymore. Can we please skip to Noah?" God is good.

New Year 2014

Today marked the first day of the new year. We spent most of the day cleaning our house and getting it back in order. All Christmas decorations have been put away and old toys are to be given away. It's a good feeling to have a clean house and a great way to start off the new year. Tomorrow starts our 30 days of prayer and fasting. As mentioned before in my blog, I will be posting what the next day's fast will be. You can also see the list for the entire month here. Tomorrow's fast is to refrain from two meals. RJ is not required to participate since he is only 6 years old, but has expressed a desire to not have any candy for the duration of the fast. We think that is a great idea. God is good.

Flashpoint 2014

Tonight we had a watchnight service at Bethel. The praise and worship was anointed and when the Bethel Youth sang they ushered in the presence of the Lord. Pastor preached his theme for 2014. On Sunday we were giving direction and guidelines, tonight we were giving the theme. This years theme is Flashpoint 2014. For every big happening that takes place there is a flashpoint. One person or thing is the catalyst that will cause a change to occur. A fire is usually started by a flashpoint, one place or person. Pastor challenged us to be a flashpoint of the fire of the Holy Ghost. To be a starting point for change. To be the one to rise up and start revival. We then had a time of prayer and it was a time of a deep move of God. Pastor then gave communion and we once again had a time of prayer. The last three minutes were filled with freedom of worship and two were baptised in Jesus name. A flashpoint of praise erupted at Bethel and we were shouting and worshiping the King of Kings as the year 2014 came into effect. Yes, Bethel this new year started with a shout of victory and praise. It was a joyous way to start of a new year. God is good.
