This is my last post for the year 2014. I have already stated what 2015 will be for me. I like it that tonight's sermon at least for me, confirmed the direction I feel placed in my heart. Pastor Davis preached on "Such A Time As This", his scriptures were from Esther 4:13-14 and Ephesians 1:11. Everyone at one time wonders why they were born? What is their purpose in life? Some people search their whole life and never seem to find that answer. It's a tragedy to live your whole life and never find out what your purpose in life is. The source of our purpose can be found in one place, the everlasting word of God. We read in Colossians 1:16 that all things were created by God and for God. We were born to love God and for God to love us. Queen Esther was an orphan who was placed in the palace and became queen. She was a real live Cinderella story. This did not happen to her just so she could be blessed, it happened, because she had been chosen for such a time to save her people. It was not a mistake that she was there at that time. She was predestined for that moment in time. Everything in our life is to bring us to our place of destiny. There are no accidents when you are a child of God. We have a choice if we are going to follow the destiny God has for our lives. Remember you are unique, one of a kind. God does not make mistakes, you are not a mistake. You were not born to lose, you were born to win. In Christ you are a warrior! You are victorious! Pursuing your destiny is never easy. No one steps into their destiny by choosing the easy path. Many things will come your way to distract you and try to make you miss your destiny. God has a purpose for you in 2015. There will be sorrows, there will be disappointments, there will be hurt. Do not let these things pull your off the path. Look at yourself and remember you were made for a purpose. Make the choice to step into your destiny in the year 2015. Advance, move forward, and walk into your destiny. You are chosen for such a time as this! God is good.
Tonight Bob took me on an magical evening in the city. His Christmas gift to me was to see Cinderella on Broadway. I have been wanting to see it and it's my favorite Disney story. Of course Rodgers and Hamerstein add their own twist. The set and costumes were great. The actors were outstanding and the singing was perfection. There was a lot of humor thrown in and magic. In two of the scenes Cinderella's dress transforms from rags to a ball gown. It happens in the midldle of the stage as she is spinning. I don't know how they do it. It was fantastic! The whole show was wonderful and I felt like a princess on a date with my prince. We ended our night with a good old fashioned Ruben from Lindy's. The entire night was wonderful and one I will remember for a very long time. To my awesome husband I thank you for an unexpected and outstanding Christmas gift. God is good.

Yesterday in church, I found my "direction" or what I feel 2015 is going to be for me and my little family. This year has been a year of what I will just call "stuff". I said it was a year of freedom and I guess in a way it was. I even had someone tell me it was going to be a year of double rainbows for us. I look back over 2014 and think to myself, I guess you can say we did have two rainbows, but they came after some very horrible storms. You can't have a rainbow without a storm. I believe God is going to restore some things and other things are going to remain as they are. To this, I will still say, blessed be the name of the Lord. I do believe that we are facing a time of advancement. Everything in the world is screaming that God is coming back. We have a work to do. In order for that to take place, we must advance. I am putting on the full armor of God and will move forward. I will not look to the left, I will not look to the right. I will not look behind me. I will keep my eyes upward on Jesus Christ and march forward. I'm advancing forward, one step at a time, one day at a time. God is good.

Today was our last Sunday Church service for the 2014 year. Pastor Davis was clearly moved with the sermon he preached today. He preached from Revelations 2:2-5 on having passion for God. Pastor reminded us that if something pushes us away from God, it is not a blessing. Passion is a powerful thing. Every great accomplishment has been fuled by passion. It is an emotion that begins on the inside and will reveal itself on the outside. Passion always finds a way. To be passionate is to be fervent. To be fervant is to boil over. We must be careful to not allow ourselves to go through the motions and no longer be boiling hot for God. If we are lukewarm, God will spit us out. He wants us on fire for Him. We are living in a day that we have allowed fear to stop us from standing up for the word of God. We tend to keep our mouth shut in fear because we are afraid to offend someone. We must not allow ourselves to hide. We must be so full of God's. Spirit that it is overflowing. It needs to touch those that we are around. Stand for what is right, do not back down to fear. This is the last days, persecution of the church is here, we must not be afraid to stand for God's truth. If we are passionate about God, we will pursue and he will be first in all we do. The presence of the Lord swept into the sanctuary. Everyone was on their face before the Lord. I want God to be a fire that burns within me. Less of me and more of him. God is good.

Today the sun shone and the rain went away. The boys went out and chopped wood for Grammy and cleaned the yard of leaves. While we were preparing dinner, Anthony (Bob's brother) stopped by with his boys. Such a delight to see them! It's amazing how quickly kids grow. We are missing Ross, and look forward to his return to NY. I'm thankful for the rays of sunshine we have had this Christmas. God is good.

Today was a calm and peaceful day. We exchanged some gifts.Today however really is not about us, it's about the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. I'm thankful for his birth and that he truly is the prince of peace. Happy Birthday Jesus. God is good.

Tonight we had our Christmas Eve Seafood Feast. I miss seeing my Father in law cooking in the kitchen. It was nice to see Bob and Dennis (and his brother) working as a team. The food came out fantastic. It was also wonderful to see my niece Krystal and her husband Dan. Once we finished our food, our desert was Joe's huckleberry pie and yummy cookies baked by Taylor. We ended our night by attending the candelite service at Port Republic Church. The day was a lovely and peaceful one.

Today was Christmas Day in our home. RJ woke up at 1:30am and came barging into the room declaring with much joy that Santa had come while we were sleeping. We were not feeling it like he was, since it was only 1:30 in the morning. Bob, being the good dad he is went out to confirm that, yes, Santa must have come while we were asleep. We convinced RJ to go back to bed, since it was way to early to start opening gifts. He went back and an hour later wanted to know if he waited long enough, we told him no. Finally around 6, RJ very sweetly came in to get me and we started the opening of presents. He said thank you for every gift and excalaimed with great delight over them. It's a joy to see this holiday through a child's eyes. Later in the day, we had RJ take a break from his new toys and we reminded him of who this season is really about. We decided to bake Jesus a brownie cake and happily put it in the oven to bake. It seems every year, no matter what I do, the cake for Jesus cracks. True to form, it cracked again this year. We make the cake a heart shaped one because he was born to be our Savior. After we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus, we just looked at the broken heart. It was a clear reminder that he was born to have his heart broken for us. His broken heart, broke so the cracks in our own heart could be healed. Jesus, Savior of the world, broke his heart for you and me. Never forget the real reason for this season. God is good.

Today was the last Christmas concert at Bethel. Over 4000 people came to hear this event. Now we can switch gears and get in to full Christmas swing. I'm looking forward to time with my family. We miss Ross, but know he's having a good time with his mom. Tonight Santa comes to the Manners' house. Never fear, Jesus is always first and he is the reason for this season. God is good.

Last night, I became very sick and was not sure if I would make it to this evenings performance. My awesome husband went to the store and cooked a Christmas Goose for dinner. Along with this dinner he made his cranberry sauce. Knowing I was not feeling well, he gave me a bowlful in the hopes it would help me to feel better, it did. Thankfully, I was well enough to go tonight and am feeling much better. The year will be ending soon and Christmas Day is soon upon us. I'm thankful for my little famly and the wonderful time we had with my mother in law this weekend. God is good.

This is the last weekend of our concert. Tonight the place was packed out. RJ was super happy that his Grammy was there and super excited that one of his teachers was there as well. I'm battling a cold and was so thankful that I made it throught the entire play. When the play ended I was happy to see other member so my family there as well. I'm so glad they were able to make it. I have a feeling tomorrow nights performance is going to be even better and I'm sure Sunday's is going to be off the charts! God is good.

Ok, so I'm biased when I say my boy was the cutest orphan in the play. Tonight, RJ's school put on their holiday play. The theme was Annie and the 2nd grade class did and song and dance as the Orphans. They did a great job. The entire play was outstanding and we enjoyed it a great deal. RJ was especially happy to have his Grammy there to see him perform. I'm thankful for nights like this that put a smile on your face and heart. God is good.

Tonight we stood in a very long line at Macy's on 34th street to see Santa. The walk through was cute. When we got to Santa, I was impressed with how much time he took with RJ. Then he did something that was magical. He stopped and took RJ by the hand, looked him in the eyes and said," You are going to grow up to be an outstanding man." He then looked at us and said to us, " I have not forgotten about the parents, I have a special gift for you." I wanted to hug him. He was so amazing. Santa was worth the very long line. He had the magical touch. God is good.

In the past 24 hours we have heard of two horrible tragedies in two different countries. Innocent lives have been taken by the hands of hate. I'm very aware of the things taking place in my own "backyard" and this news disheartens me. When I look into God's word, I see that this was to come and more is on the way. I truly believe we are in the last days. It's easy to be disheartened by this news. I get on my knees and pray for the loved ones who are grieving. I then look up to the heavens and pray for the Lord to come. We celebrate his birth this month, our Savior. He is the peace speaker and I pray for peace. I will rejoice in the sorrow for I know, Jesus is coming soon. God is good.

I gave Bob, RJ and Ross an early Christmas present. They went to hear The Vienna Boys Choir sing at Carnegie Hall. Grant it, the seats were in the nose bleed section, but in Carnegie Hall, any seat is a good seat. My husband has wanted to hear them for a very long time and I was thrilled to make it happen. Normally, every year we go to hear Handel’s Messiah, but this year, their concert time conflicted with our busy schedule. They enjoyed themselves and ended the night going to see the tree at Rockefeller Center. This is the first year I have not been to The City (Manhattan) at Christmas time. I miss seeing how pretty it is, but there is always next year (God willing). I'm amazed at how quickly this year as flown by. Christmas will be soon upon us and before we know it, we will be bringing in the year 2015. For now, I will enjoy my time with family and the beauty of Christmas. God is good.

Today was the third performance of our church concert/play . Seats are filling up quick and today we performed to a packed out crowd. As the play was in full swing I remembered a song from long ago called "Watch The Lamb". It never really hit for me until today. We have a live lamb in our concert, he's so sweet. I thought of how gentle he was and understood Christ In a new way. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice. He was as innocent as the lamb. Harmless, and taking on the sins of the world. The little lamb is so gentle and follows where you lead it. It even took a selfie with me. Jesus became the lamb for you and I, so we could have a chance at eternal life. I'm so thankful for the Lamb of God who was born in a manger. God is good

Today RJ and I decided to bake cookies, they came out delicious! I brought some to share with my fellow cast members in between the scenes. I have to say tonight the show was outstanding! I couldn't get over the electricity you could feel coming from the audience. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be even more charged. There are few seats left, if you have free time, next weekend I encourage you to make your reservations. God is good.

Tonight was the first night of 6 concerts taking place at Bethel United Pentecostal Church. I'm confident to say that our fist night went well and I know the rest are going to be great! If you have not already made your reservation, I encourage you to call 516-338-1032. The concert is free, but reservations are required. The night went well and I'm glad to be a small part of it. God is good.

We decided to do something new this year. Tonight we drove through the Festival of Lights Show at Jones Beach. We really enjoyed the light displays. They had the 12 days of Christmas, Santa on a vacation ( which made RJ laugh very hard), Olaf, and other familiar characters. Each new discovery brought great delight to us. In the middle of the light show, there was a Winter Village. They had benches with bonfires and a concession stand where you could buy hot chocolate. For those wanting to see Santa, he was there as well. Also, there was a lit up maze that RJ and Ross has a blast running through. For the parents, like us, who didn't want to run through a maze, you could sit by the fire and enjoy the sounds of Christmas as carolers sang nearby. When you are ready to leave you enter back into the light show and I was thrilled to see at the very end a Nativity Scene. Their creativity in light arrangements was great and I am glad we went to see it. God is Good.

Yesterday we had a torrential downpour of rain. Today as I was driving to pick RJ up, the rain turned into the first snow of winter. The first snow of winter always brings out the inner child in me. I love their beauty as they float down from the sky. It's almost like kisses from heaven that gently brush against my cheek. When I picked RJ up, he was just as happy. He was declaring that the most beautiful snowflake had landed on his shoulder. When we look at the world through the eyes of a child we are able to find joy in the simplest of things. I'm thankful today for kisses from heaven. God is good.

We had an intense rain storm today. I believe it's called a Nor'easter. I happened to need to go to the post office and buy groceries. Let me tell you, I was soaked to the bone just from the walk from the store to the car. An umbrella was of no use, due the intense wind that was pushing the rain and me sideways. I was very happy to be back inside my warm home and in dry clothes. When it was time to pick RJ up from school, Bob came with me. The area where RJ's school is, can tend to become flooded. I didn't want to drive it by myself. As expected, parts were very flooded. One street we went down was so flooded it was a lake, and we discovered after driving through it that it was actually blocked and we had to turn around and drive back through the lake. I have not seen rain like this since Hurricane Sandy. Thankfully, we made it safely to pick RJ up and safely home. I'm very glad Bob was with me to make the drive and never more thankful to be driving in a Subaru. God is good.

Today the children did an excelent job with their Christmas concert. The place was packed with happy parents who came to hear their children sing. Before the children came, Bro. Walker preached a sermon title,"Where Are The 9". He preached from Luke 11-16. Jesus didn't take a direct way to Jeruselem. He went by a remote village where the outcast were, the Leopers. Jesus always has a purpose, he took the road less traveled to get to where you are. When they called out to Jesus, he heard them and he came to them. A lot to times God will give you direction that doesn't make sense. Many times he will give you instructions that defy our logic. We must realize that obedience combined with faith is what God is looking for. As the 10 were on their way to the Temple, they were healed. When this happened, one of them, turned back and ran to Jesus. He fell on his face at the feet of Jesus and worshiped him. Jesus wanted to know where the other 9 were. This one came back to give thanks for his healing. When he did this Jesus not only healed his body, he healed his soul. The other 9, who didn't come back to give thanks, they were healed in their body. The one who came back recieved so much more. In this season, don't forget to give thanksgiving to the reason for this season. Remember the one who was born and died for our salvation. Give thanks in all things, for God works out all things for the good. God is good. On a side note, if your planning on attending the concert, make your reservation soon.

Today for us was the official start of Christmas. We started our day off at Hicks Nursary to walk through their Santa Land and then pick out our Christmas tree. Once the tree was secure in our home, we headed to the mall to hear our church choir sing. They did an outstanding job and for us it starts Christmas, Jesus is the real reason for this season. We spent the rest of the day transforming our home. The end result is wonderful. Bob read a Christmas story to RJ and we enjoyed our time together. Of course we can not forget our nativity. RJ takes great care to make sure gifts fit for a king are laid before Jesus. It's a fun time for us and we enjoy it, the best we can. No matter how busy it becomes, we keep Jesus first. God is good.

Today we went to my husband's office and decorated it for Christmas. We had a lot of fun and the place looks great. Tomorrow, we will transform the Manners house into my favorite time of Christmas. I love going to Hicks Nursery to see all the decorations they have and watch RJ and Ross pick out the tree. We are 5 days into December and already it feels like it's flying by. I'm thankful for my little family and am looking forward to my home being transformed tomorrow. God is good.

Tonight while Ross took RJ to his play practice, Bob and I slipped away for a little date. We decided to take a walk on the boardwalk. Grant it, it's cold outside, but I was longing to see the ocean and hear the waves roar. When they roar, they remind me of how majestic God is and that nothing is impossible for him. Tonight when we got home, we sat down for our nightly family devotionals. Bob was reading about how if you ask your Heavenly Father for something, he won't give you something to harm you, he will give you what you ask of him. For example if we ask for bread, he won't give us a stone. As Bob was taking RJ to bed, RJ was making his own things up and after each one, yelling "NO WAY!". I have been told that our view of God as a Heavenly Father is based from how our earthly dad is to us. RJ and his dad have a very good relationship. It was clear tonight that RJ had no doubt that his Heavenly Father would only give him good things and never give him mushrooms instead of meatballs. God is good.

For those who have been reading my blog, you will recall a childhood friend of mine who is on a wait list for lungs. Her outlook on life amazes me. She is still waiting and while she is waiting she is doing good things to make this world a better place. Once again, Edwina, you are a hero to me. We will continue to pray for God's hand on your life and that he makes your time here a very long and healthy one. You can read her recent update here. God is good.

We are in the month of December. I love this time of year. Every store you go into is playing Christmas music. Yes, there is the mad dash in the stores and some people get a bit hysterical over the fast pace of the season. However, this is a month to celebrate. Tomorrow, we celebrate, Ross' birth. The rest of the month we will celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I'm thankful for my little family. We are small, but we are happy. God is good.

Today we had a guest speaker, Bro. Smith, who pastors in Weschester. His sermon was entitled " The First Word Of The Gospel". His main scriptures were from Acts 2:38 and 3:19. The most important word of the gospel is the word Repent. Repentance is a change of mind, change of heart, and change of life. These three must go together for true repentance to occur. Our self-centered nature requires us to repent. You can't hide anything from God, especially sin. Your sins will eventually find you out. Repentance is not a natural thing for us to do. This desire comes from God. He calls us to repentance. When we come to repentance, he will work and heal our life. There are two types of repentance. We can have a selfish type of repentance, where we are sorry because we are caught. The other is saying your sorry before you are found out. Where you began at repentance is not important, where you end is the issue. We all must start somewhere in our path to repentance. When we are in true repentance, we never stop changing. It's not about me, but must be about Jesus. Remember, when you sin, don't run away from God's house, run to his house. His door is always open. He wants to walk with you, be in your and help you live and overcoming life. God is good.
