Uncertain Times

Most of the world is watching to see what is going to happen in regards to events taking place in Syria. We are living in uncertain times. In our little worlds we continue in life, love and laughter. In an instant that can be changed. Where does your help come from? In whom do you place your trust. I don't know what is going to take place, I do know where my trust lies. Jesus is my peace and in whom I place my trust.God is good.

Voices from the Cross and Shieves For Christ

Tonight Bro. Faragammo taught an excellent lesson on Voices from the Cross. He talked about 7 sentences that Jesus uttered while he was hanging on the cross; they still speak to us today. 1) "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." He was a humble man on the cross thinking of other's instead of himself. He spoke of forgiveness instead of condemnation. 2) “Today you will be with me in paradise." This was in response to the prisoner who asked Jesus to remember him. We are sinners saved by grace. He extends mercy and grace to us today. 3)"Women behold thy son." He was dying on the cross and Jesus was thinking of the wellbeing of others. He was showing compassion. Jesus wants us to love others as he loves us.4)" My God, my God why have you forsaken me?" This was the climax of Jesus' suffering. He tasted the ultimate death that comes with the lake of fire. He was our substitution, he took our place of death. 5)" I thirst". Jesus wants to fulfill man's universal need. Only Jesus can satisfy your soul. 6)" It is finished." This was a shout of triumph, the atonement was complete. Salvation can now be given to mankind. 7)"Father into thy hands I commend my spirit." He gave up the ghost. No one killed him; Jesus gave himself up to death. He laid down his life for us. Jesus didn't die as a victim, he dies a victor. Also, RJ will be walking in a pinwheel parade on September the 8th. He will be walking three laps to raise money for Orphanages and Missionaries. If you would like to support what he is doing, you can send money to Bethel United Pentecostal Church 357 Jericho Turnpike Old Westbury NY 11568. If sending a check, please put RJ SFC in the memo, so he will get the credit. Whoever raises the most money gets to lead the parade. I will be posting pictures from the parade here on this blog. New School and Patch

Today we had our New Parent Orientation at RJ's new school. It was wonderful to see familiar faces as several of his former classmates will be attending there as well. We are thrilled with his new school and are confident that RJ will shine while he is there. When we returned home, we had one last summer playdate with some of his church friends. By request his sweet Jolie was there and I have to say, she won my vote today. As I have mentioned before RJ has to wear a patch four hours a day. When he put his patch on, she promptly put on a pirate patch, so he wouldn't be the only one wearing a patch. I thank God for such sweet friends in his life. God is good!

Shoes

Today we went shoe shopping for RJ. Since he has a dress code to follow, we needed to have school shoes to match as well as shoes for gym. I was amazed at the variety of shoes for little boys. I don't remember having so many options when I was little...I do remember my brown cowgirl boots, those were my favorite. Three pairs of shoes later, I think we have it covered, now I just hope when he wakes up they still fit. The Bible tells us in Psalms 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." I pray that wherever RJ's shoes lead him, that they will be on a path lit by God's light. God is good!

He Turned It

I have seen recently a lot of tweets/facebook postings regarding a song called "He Turned It" by Tye Tribbett. I decided to check it out for myself. I must say that I really liked it and felt like it descibed exactly what has been going in in our life as of late. There truly is nothing God can not do. He can turn any situation around, no matter how bleek it may seem. God can turn your situation from mourning into dancing. You can hear it and see the lyrics here.God is good!

Asking the Wrong or Right Question

Today we had a guest speaker. Pastor Marvin Walker preached with a subject title of "Asking the Wrong or Right Question." His main scriptures were based off of Genesis 3:1,Hebrews 11:5 and Daniel 12:4. The more things change the more they stay the same. Asking God the right question can either cause you to grow in him or to become further from him. Eve asked a question, but it really was not one out of obedience, but from rebellion. Her question was not one that would come with an answer that would bring her closer to God. Enoch asked how he could please the Lord and wanted to know how he could be closer in his walk with the Lord. This pleased God and it propelled him into the presence of the Lord. Are you sold out for Christ or are you for sale? When we walk with Jesus, he will always lead us into deep waters with him. God is good.

End of Summer

This week coming up is our last week of summer, I can't get over how quickly summer went by. School clothes are ready, school supplies have been purchased and RJ is not ready for summer to end. We asked him what his favorite part of summer was and he told us that it was the beginning of summer when he was in the hammock with Jolie. The lazy days of summer are soon to be over. We will have a 1st grader and a college student in our home. Our new routines will start and life will be different. I'm looking forward to this school year and know RJ will grow in his learning environment. God is good.

Long Lost

This past week Facebook was of great use to my family. For years we have been trying to find my cousin and have not been successful. When my Aunt and Uncle passed away in a tragic car accident, they left behind three teenagers and a 2 year old girl. She became lost to us and we never had contact with her again. This past week, she found her brothers and sister on facebook which led to all of us being connected. Coming back together again has been wonderful. A priceless gift has been given to us. God is good.

Temptation Part 2

Pastor Davis taught Part 2 of his lesson on Overcoming Temptation. I really enjoy his Thursday night lessons, they are food for my soul. He focused on James 1:12-14, How to win the battle over temptation. Temptation never comes from God, He will test and challenge us to do what is right. When God is testing us, he is encouraging us to chose to do the right thing. He challenges us to do good, sometimes doing the right thing is a challenge. Temptation is when we are encouraged to do wrong, this comes from the devil. Every Biblical character was tested by God, they were challenged to do what was right. Every man is drawn away by our own lust and from enticement. We are not sinners because we sin, We sin because we are sinners. Romans 5:12. We are sinners saved by grace. Pastor then gave us 4 out of 8 keys on how to overcome sin and temptation. 1)Live in the fullness of the Holy Ghost. Acts 1:8. 2) Pray, Read your Bible and Fast consistently. Psalms 1:1-2. 3). Develop Temperance, self control. -make a deliberate decision to do what is right. - pray for self control, say no to your flesh. 4) Use your sword. The word of God in your mind and in your mouth. Ephesians 6:17. If you have a weak spot in your life, find every scripture in the Bible in that area. Memorize these scriptures and speak them, they will help you to overcome. When you speak the word, you speak Jesus into the situation. We must believe, love, know, memorize, meditate, declare and do God's word. James 4:7. With God you can win! God is Good!

Toys on the Floor

For a while RJ has not been motivated to play with his toys, unless he had some friends over. He really has been struggling with not having a sibling. Now that Ross is living with us, he has pulled out all his toys. He is back to playing by himself and of course Ross is good natured enough to play with him. Having Ross here has been good for all of us in many ways.RJ is calling him his cousin and his big brother. He told me this morning that now that he has a brother, he believes that God will give him a baby sister. God knows what He is doing and he truly does all things well. Also, today my Father in Law had a check up at Sloan Kettering. The doctors were baffled at how high his blood platelets count has reached in such a short amount of time. Prayer works!!! God is good!

A Patch and Up

RJ recently had his annual check up with the eye doctor. His right eye is exactly as is should be, but his left has a slight astigmatism. For the next four months RJ will need to wear an eyepatch in the evening. He seemed pretty ok with the idea and when we put his eye patch on tonight, he was thrilled to be a pirate! Of course the excitement wore off when he had to keep it on for several hours. Thankfully the patches have different designs and are very colorful. Today we heard from my Father in Law. His blood platelets are rapidly rising. We give thanks to our God, for He is doing a work in his blood! God is good.

Boardwalk Preacher

This weekend Bob, Ross and RJ along with Mozart went to New Jersey. I had the pleasure of staying home and taking care of the fish. While in New Jersey, Bob decided to take RJ to Atlantic City to see a musical light show that is displayed on the boardwalk. As they were walking along the boardwalk, there was a young man preaching with all his heart to anyone who would listen. The next day as they were in the car driving to church RJ tell his dad that when he grows up he wants to do what that young man was doing, he wants to preach on the boardwalk. It's clear that God is doing a work in my son and in his heart. He's very smart and I am not saying that because I am his mother, how many 5 year olds do you know that can say paleontologist perfectly and know exactly what they are talking about? My boy is destined for great things and I am daily praying for God to keep him from all harm. God is Good!

Sold Out

Today Pastor Davis preached in impassioned sermon about being sold out for God. His sermon was based on Matthew 19:16-22. He started off with a story about Charlie Brown and Lucy talking about how Charlie Brown is a Blah person. When it comes to a child of God there is no such thing as a blah believer. In today's generation we need to be turning our world upside down. In the book of Matthew it talks about the rich young ruler who was almost persuaded. He didn't want to give up everything to follow Jesus. He wasn't sold out. If he had followed Jesus, he would have been on of the disciples that we read about today. Instead he is an unnamed man who couldn't give all of himself to Christ. When you make the decision to be sold out to Christ you are giving your all to him and nothing can persuade you to walk away from living a Christ centered life. Are you almost persuaded or are you sold out to Christ? God is good!

Example

Today I spoke with my Father in law. He is in good spirits and feels great. I am thankful that he is doing well and am confident that when he has his check up this week, that the doctors are going to give us more good reports. Through this entire time, his faith in God was never shaken. He was steadfast and unmoving in his love and walk with God. I appreciate him all the more and treasure his example he has been to all of us. Tomorrow is Sunday and I will continue to give praise to God not just for what He has done, but for being my everything."May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." [Romans 15:13] God is Good!

Home

I am happy to report that my Father in law is home resting. We rejoice that he is well enough to be home and we know his health will continue to improve. God makes all things perfect in his own way and time. Romans 15:13 - Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. God is good!

Temptation and Home

Tonight Pastor Davis taught part one of "Overcoming Temptation". His main scripture was James 1:12. Jesus tells us that we are to be overcomers. You will not live a Christian life without having trials and temptations. Temptation is something that entices us to sin. When we endure to the end, we hold fast and will still be standing when the temptation is over. Once you are filled with God's spirit and baptized in his name, the temptations and problems of life do not go away. The change is that once you are filled with God's spirit, you have the strength to overcome temptation. There are three sources of temptation; our flesh, the world and the devil. Jesus won the victory over the flesh, the world and Satan. When Jesus lives inside of you, you can overcome because he already overcame these things. I have great news regarding my Father in Law, he is going home tomorrow. The doctors are confident that his blood platelets are at a good number and he can go home! We are rejoicing over this good new and thank God for doing a good work. Thank you for your prayers. He will continue to need your prayers as his body battles this disease. We are confident that we will have many more years with him. God is good!

Green Light Faith

Tonight we were reading from Luke chapter 17. When Bob read the part in the Bible regarding having the faith as size of a mustard seed, RJ speaks up and says," Oh I have that kind of faith. When we are at a red light and I want it to turn green, I say turn green with faith that it will turn...you know what, it turns green." So simple and with no doubt, RJ has had his green light faith regarding his Grampy. The doctors are telling us that if his blood count continues to go up, he may go home on Friday. Children make things so much more uncomplicated when it comes to faith in God. I give thanks for the work God is doing in my Father in Law and believe he will be going home very soon. God is good!

Admissions and a Spark

Today I took Ross to the college to work on getting him enrolled for the fall semester. It was pouring rain, but hey, we are halfway done with enrollment. Later in the day I saw firetrucks outside the office and learned that a frayed electric wire was smoldering. Thankfully, it did not turn into a fire and the office is unharmed. Some days are hectic and crazy, others are smooth. I'm mentally getting ready for school to start and am embracing new routines in our home. We also received news that my Father in Law is improving. The doctors have set a mark his blood count needs to hit, if this happens, he can go home. Please continue to pray. God is Good!

True Joy and Peace

As you are aware my Father in Law is in the hospital. When we went to visit him yesterday he was telling us about all the people he has met. He has a very special way about him that causes people to want to be around him. While he is in his room reading the Bible, other patients will come in and start asking him about the Lord. Here is this man whose is not well, yet he has a smile on his face. The joy and peace of God radiates from him. Jesus is truly being a light that shines through him and is touching every life that comes into contact with him. I admire him for his attitude during this time. We are all trusting and believing that God is going to work a miracle and he will be able to go home soon. God is Good!

What Do You Need

We arrived last night around 2 in the morning and were pretty tired when we woke up. Nevertheless, we gladly went to church anticipating great things. Pastor Davis preached a very passionate sermon entitled, "What Do You Need?” His main scripture was John 15:1-7. Everyone needs something; peace, finances, food, shelter, etc. The human race is a needy people. It does not matter how rich or poor you are, there is always something you are in need of. There is an evil that can lurk in the heart of every human being. Jeremiah 17:9 tells us that our heart is deceitful and above all things wicked. There is hope for us in that Jesus died on the cross to take away our sins. When the breath of God comes into our lives and we are filled with His spirit we find that Jesus is the way, the answer, truth and life. We need God in our lives. With God in our lives we can go through anything and He will take care of us. He helps us to have pure hearts. We can have it all and still have nothing. Jesus is all we need. After church we went to visit my Father in Law in the hospital. The doctors have been able to pinpoint what is wrong and have started attempting to treat it. We prayed for him today and continue to believe for a miracle. As you are aware RJ recieved the Holy Ghost and as he put it, he was fully charged. He asked his cousin Ross today this question. "If the doctor gives me an X-Ray will he see the Holy Ghost inside of me." God is good!

Home

We are presently on our way home. Following behind us is my nephew Ross. He is coming to live with us while he attends school in NY. I look forward to being home. The next few weeks will be focused on getting RJ and Ross ready for new beginnings at new schools. God is good!

Overwhelmed

Today was the last day of NAYC 2013. A while back while at a youth service RJ said he got a zap of the Holy Ghost. Today at the end of the day session while the praise team was singing "We are the free" I was enjoying watching my son worship with all he had. And then I looked and realized he had started to speak in tongues. God was giving him a much bigger dose of His Spirit. He was pretty shocked and stopped and then like any 5 year old wanted me to hold him. We are rejoicing for this. Tonight's sermon was preached by Cortt Chavis. He was anointed and poured his heart out. His basis was on being balanced and making sure not all you do is sit on a pew. We need to be out telling others about the love of Christ. I can't even do justice to his sermon, it was so compelling. He had everyone pray for others. I sat and watched our youth group pray with on another and wept. I thank God for our amazing youth pastor Jonathan and Lindsi Walker. Their love and compassion is very evident. The Bethel Youth Group are an amazing group of kids. This past three days have been amazing and what has been given is priceless. God is good!

3 Alters NAYC 2013

I have to say that tonight's service was filled with the sweet presence of God. The sermon was preached by Tim Gaddy. He had three separate alters on the platform. The alters represented the three most important alters you come to in life. The first one is who you meet at the alter when you get married. They are your partner in life and ministry. The second was for the heritage that has been made and set for us. The third was an alter of prayer where you allow God to consume your life. By the time he finished preaching the presence of God was so sweet and strong. A building filled with about 20,000 people were swept away into the presence of The Lord into their own personal alter with God. Once again at NAYC we were ushered into a heavenly place. God is good!

Speak for yourself

We arrived safely to Louisville,KY for the North American Youth Congress. I can't get over how many young people are here. Bro Shay Mann preached a compelling sermon from the heart. He spoke with passion to the generation of today to stand up and speak for theirself. In this day and age everyone is speaking loudly about they views and they are for the most part the opposite of what the Word of God teaches. He challenged the youth to take a stand and speak what they believe and not be afraid to tell the truth to their world.  I'm thankful for his sermon. Now more than ever our young people need to hold strong to the words of God, even when it's not the popular way to be. In regards to my Father in law, we spoke to him this morning, The treatment the doctors are giving to him seem to be working. God is good!

NAYC 2013

Two years ago we decided to take RJ to North American Youth Congress. He was so impacted by it, that we decided to take him again this year. He's very excited about going to the Big Licken Chicken Church in Kentucky. ( He calls KFC chicken..Licken Chicken and NAYC is in the KFC center). We told him he can eat all the Licken Chicken he wants while he is there. Chicken aside, we are looking forward to the services and the amazing presence of the Lord. I will never forget the last NAYC's church services. The power of God was so strong that I felt like we were in a heavenly place. I have expectations that it will be so much more this year. Tomorrow, we head out for another road trip..we are getting good at this. In regards to my Father In Law, things are still the same. The doctors are now saying they do not know what is going on and they are trying to find the cause so they can treat him. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. God is Good.

Transfer of Spirits

Today is Missions Sunday at Bethel and one of our youth, Deborah, gave a wonderful account and testimony of her recent AYC trip to El Salvador. We are super proud of her and know there will many more good things that we will hear from her. I have to say that the songs today were very encouraging and confirming that God is going to do a miracle in my Father in law. Today things are the same and we are hoping to hear more news tomorrow. We had a guest speaker today by the name of Bro. Rick Wyser. He is a wealth of information and I am never able to take notes that do his sermons justice. I am going to attempt to share with you the awesome word he brought to us today. He preached from Malachi 2:15-16. He focused on the phrase in verse 16 that says "Therefore take heed to your spirit". There are three types of Spirits. 1. God 2. Satan and 3. Man's. Bro. Wysers focus was on mans' spirit. Your outward actions reflect your inner spirit. If you will allow in your life things that are not of God and surround yourself with people who are not living a Godly life, you will be impacted by their spirit. If we are to be steadfast and upright we must have an upright spirit. Therefore it's important to guard your heart. Our lives are reservoirs of our passions and desires. We are bombarded by all kinds of things and the spirit from those things can have an impact in our lives. He said something that really stood out to me. The soul must be the master of the body, not the body of the soul. He talked about how it's safe to be in the church. When we come to church we are strengthened by the preaching of the word and the power of our testimony. He also admonished us to not allow a prideful spirit rise up...for with pride something so small can rip a church apart. It was a good service, one that needed a lot of introspect and truly looking at what we are putting in our lives. I need to be aware of my behavior and how I respond to a situation. I know for myself that if I have not prayed like I should or read my Bible, I can overreact to something or am not sensitive to the needs of those around me. I want Jesus to radiate from me. God is good!

A Friend in Need

I want to say a big thank you to Adrienne who was a friend in deed to us today. Due to children not being allowed at the hospital, I have not been able to visit my Father in law. Today she babysat my grumpy at times little boy, so I could see him. Thankfully, the intense bouts of pains due to his molar are becoming less and I have learned how to space his medicine out to he sleeps through the night. At a drop of a hat, she took him today. I give thanks for her. While at the hospital, the doctor came in and gave us some good news. There are some major hurdles that need to be crossed, but they are confident that their procedures will conquer what is going on in his body. Keep the prayers coming..they are working! It was so nice to see my Father in law today and I enjoyed the simplicity of chatting. Life is precious, treasure your time together. God is good!

Dentist and Waiting

Last night was a bit better and today we took RJ to see the dentist. Thankfully all that is going on is his 6 year old molar is breaking through and there is no infection. I pray it gets better for him soon, it makes me sad to see him in such pain. Bob along with his sisters went to visit their dad today. As of now, nothing has changed and we still have no news. I appreciate your prayers for him. God is good!

Molars and Faith

RJ and I were up most of the night last night. He woke up screaming in pain and I had no idea what was going on. He has a cavity so I assumed that was what was hurting him. Finally around 3am he fell asleep after I gave him some medicine. This morning, I made an appointment for the dentist and then took a look in his mouth...well..what did I see..two molars breaking through. NO wonder he was in pain. Most of the day he did ok, but this evening it started to hurt again, so I gave him some medicine. I am hoping he sleeps through the night. We are getting some good news regarding my Father in Law. I don't have much details,as Bob went to see his dad with his sisters and mother, while I stayed home with RJ. I will continue to pray and have faith that God is guiding the doctors and doing a work of miracles. God is good!
