At the beginning of this year I mentioned my Anthem for the year was Take Me To the King. I had a song that I felt was my theme song for the year. You can listen to it here. Little did I know at that time, this year I would be spending most of my year at the feet of the King of Kings holding on for dear life. I think I can safely say this year has been a very rough and challenging year. In the midst the sorrow there have been great times for rejoicing. We went from desperately trying to find a new school for our son to discover we were blessed with a wonderful place for R.J. to learn. Over the summer while R.J. was at North American Youth Congress, he was worshiping with all his heart and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost. The doctors report told me that there was nothing they could do for my ears and I would remain unable to hear out of my right ear. In October, God healed me and I can now hear out of my right ear. Doctors report tells us we are lucky to have R.J. and the likelihood of having another child is slim. My nephew moves in with us over the summer. R.J. now has a wonderful cousin who is a big brother to him. The sorrow from the loss of my Father-in-law has left us numb with heart ache and yet soon My brother in law's first child will be born. Death and life, sorrow and joy all mixed together. This has been a huge year of change, many things have rocked my little world. Through all of it, I have found myself at the feet of Jesus holding on tight. This Sunday as I sat in reflection and totally focused on the Lord, I felt a shift. In my mind's eye I saw myself hands outstretched and I was running free through an open field. God's presence was all around me and flowing through me. I felt free from the sorrows of this year and was soaring. No longer was I clinging on for dear life to the feet of Jesus, I was running in his presence and I was free. That same feeling of freedom is still with me. I feel as if the full Armour of God has encompassed me and I am rising up. I am no longer a battle, scared and wounded warrior. I have been made whole and am ready to claim the victories waiting for me in 2014. I gladly leave 2013 behind me and race towards the things God has in store for 2014. I share with you my Athem for 2014. I Am Free. In this freedom I will be on my knees and this warior will be fighting through prayer and praise. God is good.

Today Pastor Davis preached Bethel's theme for 2014. His scriptures were Ephesians 6:18 and II Chronicles 7:14. His theme for 2014 is prayer and seeking the face of God and to seek his favor. God doesn't love everyone the same. Noah found grace in the eyes of God. Mary was favored above all other women and chosen to carry Jesus. Some find favor and some don't. It's what you do that brings God's favor. We must strive to have the favor of God. We are to take back the things that the devil has stolen from us and we are to take new "territory". Pastor challenged Bethel to enter into a year of spiritual warfare and a year of spiritual victory. We must fight the powers of darkness that is trying to take our communities and our families. To do all this, we must do it on our knees in prayer. The greatest poverty of the modern church is prayerlessness. Luke 18:1 challenges us to always pray. In I Thessalonians 5:17 we are told to pray without ceasing. We must pray until an answer comes. Persistent prayer is not to wear down God, but to demonstrate our constant unwavering faith that God will hear and answer us. God will answer on his time, this is Divine delay. Pastor then gave us a break down of how we will be starting out the new year as a church family. We are going to start the new year off with prayer and fasting starting January 2nd. We are to pray every day for at least one hour. The last two weeks of our 30 day fast will be 5 am prayer on Monday Wednesday and Friday. This year we will be on a rotating fast, meaning each day will be something a bit different. A calender was passed out with instructions. Of course pastor reminded us that if someone has health issues, they need to speak with their health care provider and do the fast in a way that would not cause them physical harm. He also instructed that we are doing this as a body and we not to compare ourselves to one another. The point of a fast is to make a sacrifice and that it may be different for one person than it is for you. In addition to this we will be going on an electronic entertainment fast. I will continue to write this blog and will explain the fast for the next day and share my Bible reading from the day. Pastor went on to tell us that prayer brings power, deliverance and victory. When we agree together in prayer, something powerful will happen. I invite you to join us on our 30 days of prayer and fasting. God is good.

Tonight we read from Psalms. We were reading about how much our Heavenly Father loves us. When we seek him, we will find him. In the natural if RJ were to ask his dad for a slice of bread, Bob will give him that and most likely add some jelly and butter to it. He makes it better than what RJ asked for. God is like that with us. He goes above and beyond in how he answers us. We only have a few days left of this year and I will be honest, I am looking forward to a new year. We have had much sorrow and we have had joy. I am thankful that through this year, God has given us beyond bread and has taken care of every need. God is good.

Today we arrived home and RJ happily went to inspect all his toys he received for Christmas. One such gift is a rather large Star Wars Lego set given to RJ and Ross. While they were putting it together, Bob and I decided to watch the movie Chariots of Fire. Pastor a while back preached about Eric Liddell and his great faith in God. I found it amazing that he chose to put God first over everything. Some people run from God and when they run from him, they find themselves falling deeper into things that will destroy them. Eric Liddell ran towards God and as he ran, he would feel God's presence all around him and in him. What direction are you running. Are you running towards God to be filled, or are you running from God. The movie encouraged me and Eric Liddell reminded me that no matter what, choose God first. God is good.

Yesterday and today was a very quiet and peaceful day. We usually end our evening visiting Aunt Theresa and enjoying time with family. True to years past we ended our evening eating some very delicious food prepared by Aunt Theresa while surrounded by laughter and love. RJ loves coming to her house and even more so because he has discovered a new cousin who's his age and they are of like minds. I'm thankful for these peaceful days and in a sense it's closure for the year. God is good.

Yesterday we celebrated our Christmas in NY. We had a birthday cake for Jesus and the next morning around 3am RJ woke us all up declaring Santa had arrived. After opening our gifts we had a lovely dinner and then packed our bags to head for Christmas in New Jersey. As we prepare the fish for Christmas Eve dinner it was very bittersweet. The feast was usually prepared by my father in law and I will admit I did slip away to shed some tears. I miss him, especially this time on the year. Thankfully my nieces boyfriend is a chef and came and helped us tremendously. After all the family arrived we enjoyed our time together and shared happy memories of dad. The grandchildren had a good time playing and opening their gifts. We ended our night at the Port Republic Church for a candlelight service singing Christmas carols. I'm thankful for a day of peace and so glad that Jesus was born. God is good.

Today was our last concert at Bethel. It was an honor to be a part of the play and concert. I have to admit every time I took my veil off to signify the past coming into the present and walked to the front to share my testimony, I was overwhelmed with thanksgiving. I can truly say my tears were real and not fake. I do not take for granted that my ear was healed and I can hear. The response from the audience during the concert was amazing. Every performance was surrounded by the presence of the Lord. Tonight is Christmas Eve in our home. RJ baked a birthday cake for Jesus and we put cookies out for Santa. Although Santa visits our home, we make it very clear that Jesus is the true reason for this season. As we said our nightly prayers, RJ wished Jesus a Happy Birthday. Yes, Happy Birthday Jesus, we are so glad you were born. God is good.

Tonight was our second night in a row of performing Lamb of God at Bethel. I have to say we could feel the excitement coming from the audience. Above all that, we could feel the presence of God with us in a mighty way. It felt as if we were giving hope to many people tonight. We live in a changing world that is becoming further away from what God's word stands for. I am thankful tonight that we were able to express our joy of our saviors birth through song and acting. As long as we have the freedom to do so, we will lift our voice in praise to the King of Kings born in a manger. He is the Lamb of God. God is good.

Tonight was our first official night of the Lamb of God concert. My husband is an usher and RJ wanted to be an usher like his daddy. Father in son stood and greeted the people as they came in. I was told RJ gave a countdown on how many minutes were left until the concert started. Ross would tell him how many minutes and RJ would give an annoucement. I'm glad he was there to help. Since I was in the back getting ready I was not there to see if Mr. C came to see the concert. When everything had ended I was greated by a very happy little usher. Mr C came and enjoyed the concert. RJ was so happy that his guest he invited came. The place was packed and I am sure tomorrow will be just as full. God is good.

Tonight was RJ's school play. We have been told that the plays put on by his school were pretty good. I have to say I was amazed at how well it was done. Their theme was Mulan. I was happy that the 5th graders started it off by singing some Christmas songs. From there the students put on an outstanding play. I was floored at how well they all did. RJ's class were the cutest crickets and I think they stole the show. RJ's Auntie Christinea came to see RJ as a surprise. He was super excited that she came to see him perform. All in all, it was a wonderful night and I thoroughly enjoyed their production. Tomorrow will be our first night at Bethel performing Lamb of God. I have been told that the performances are completely booked. God is good.

Tonight we went to see Santa at Macy's on 34th street. To RJ he is the real Santa and all the others are just men in beards. The Santa land is always amazing and worth the long line. Maybe it's just seeing it through RJ's eyes that makes it so wonderful. The best part was when he was telling one of the elves that this year he is giving presents to a boy who everyone wants to go away. She was very touched and gave him a high five. When he was able to see Santa he asked for some toys and then told him about giving to Go Away. I think Santa was touched by RJ's kind heart. I know this mommy was bursting with joy over his tender heart. God is good.

This time of the year RJ and I get into a baking frenzy. We have baked so far sugar cookies and peanut butter cookies. I even found an awesome idea on the internet to take grapes, bananas, strawberries and a marshmallow and put them on a toothpick. It's supposed to look like the grinch wearing a santa hat. It came out so cute and RJ was thrilled. I have to admit, it tasted pretty good too. I think we shall add this treat to our yearly tradition at Christmas time. I love this time of year. God is good.

RJ is pretty excited about the upcoming concerts taking place at Bethel this week. He has been inviting people and last week he handed an invitation to his bus driver Mr. C. Later that day we received a phone call from Mr. C asking if we could give him some more invitations, because he wanted to invite some of his friends. When I saw Mr. C today he was telling me how excited he is to attend and he thinks it's going to be very beautiful. He will be attending with his family. RJ is so excited that his bus driver will be coming to the concert. God is good.

Today was our first Lamb of God concert at Bethel. We were all a bit nervous, but could feel every scene and song flow smoothly. By the end, the presence of the Lord was there and that made all the hours of practice worth it. For me Christmas is the concert at Bethel. For RJ it's Bethel and Carnegie Hall. For my husband it's the Candlelight Christmas Concert at Riverside Church. Tonight we attended their concert and as usual were not disappointed. I could see Bob was really enjoying himself and that always puts a smile on my face. This weekend we had the pleasure of sharing all of this with my Mother in law and it was good to see her relax and watch the sorrows fade for a while. Or course Ross is living with us, so it has been nice having him with us as well. All in all, today was a wonderful day filled with glorious singing about the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Around 8am this morning the snowflakes started to fall. It is now 9pm and the snow is still falling. Looking out my window I see a shimmering carpet of white blanketing everything. It's a peaceful night and I am thankful for it. Tomorrow will be our first concert for the church and then starting on Friday we will have our open concerts. Word is that over 2,000 people have reserved seats. Wow..it's humbling. May the true meaning of Christmas shine through us in every word sung and spoken. God is good.
Since RJ has always loved Handel's Messiah we make it a point to hear it at Carnegie Hall. This year we brought my Mother in law as well. RJ sat next to her very excited to share with her one of his favorite parts of Christmas. Once in a while I would glance over and see his happy smile in his face. I could see he was tired and by the second half he was sound asleep in my arms. We all enjoyed hearing Gods words being proclaimed in such a beautiful way. Even though RJ fell asleep, he was still very happy to have heard his favorites from Handel's Messiah. God is good.

The other day when I picked RJ up from school, I was amazed at how they had transformed the inside lobby into a beautiful winter wonderland, with a magnificant christmas tree. While in the car RJ and I were discussing how pretty it all was and he got quiet. If you have been reading my blog for some time you will know that when RJ gets quiet he's about to say something deep. He then says to me, "Well, I do like the tree at my new school, but you know what, the tree at my old school was much better." I was puzzled by this since the tree at his last school was very plain. He then explained, " Well..you see it was prettier because it was covered by mittens and gloves for those who can't afford mittens or gloves. That makes it much prettier to me because the season is better when you give." God is good.

The weather this morning was forecasting snow. I was surprised to hear that school was still on since RJ's school is in a hilly area. I was not surprised when we were informed of an early closing. Anticipating a breathtaking drive, Bob and I decided to go together to pick RJ up. We were not disappointed. The snow sparkled as it fell from the sky onto the landscape around us. The beauty of snow never ceases to amaze me. True I am not fond on being cold in it, nor am I fond of how it looks if it sticks around for a long time. However, today it was just lovely.

I have a lot of Christmas songs that I really like. When I was a child it was the Drummer Boy now as an adult I love Carol of the Bells. Something about this time of the year puts a pep in my step. I love walking through the stores and hearing the festive music. Then..once in a while I will hear a song that is the true meaning of Christmas and I become very excited. Of course hearing the Hallelujah chorus from Handel's Messiah and I feel like my spirit soars. God is good.

Today our children had their Christmas concert. They did a great job singing and of course I love seeing my boy dressed as a Wise Man. All the children were adorable. We also had a guest speaker. Bro. Nathan Herrod who is a missionary to Spain. He preached an anointed and stirring sermon, "The Dimensions of Faith". His main scripture was Hebrews 11:1. In life we have three dimensions. 1. Straight line- a snail lives in this dimension, they go in a straight line. 2. Square- a dog lives in this realm. 3. Man lives in this third dimension based on what they can see hear, and touch. Faith operates in a different dimension. When we walk in the realm of faith it changes everything and defies what would be normal in the third dimension. In the dimension of faith we can speak to something and a supernatural occurrence will take place. There is life or death our words. When we speak something, with faith, we speak it into existence. For instance, if our morning starts off not, so well, we say to ourselves it's going to be one of those days. We have faith that it's going to be a bad day. Instead, we should say, the rest of this day is going to be a great day. He then talked about healing. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice and by the stripes he took on Calvary we are healed. It's a simple as that. He then gave example after example of people that he prayed for that were healed. He prayed with faith believing that as he spoke the healing into existence in Jesus name, and the miracles followed. Sign and wonders follow those that believe. When we believe that God is going to do it, it happens. He then invited those who were sick to come forward who needed healing. I went to get RJ from his class because last night he pulled a muscle in his leg while playing around. We prayed for him and later this evening he was running all over the house, super excited because God had healed his leg. It's that simple...pray for the situation with faith believing and God will answer. God is good.

The other morning when RJ was having his prayer time with his dad, he said to his dad, "We have to have Christmas for Go Away. Go Away is not his real name, but he is a little boy and he lives in the crazy mountains. He has no daddy and no mommy. He is very, very poor. Nobody wants him, so they say go away. That's not what they say, but that is what they are thinking. We have to give him a Christmas." Bob listned to him and told him that he would work on finding Go Away. We made some phone calls and found a boy that matched RJ's description and he lives in the Appalachian mountians. This boy is 8 years old and does not know where his pareants are. He has been raised by his grandparents. Recently his grandfather passed away and his grandmother just had a stroke. At this present moment he is living with strangers. He was not going to have a Christmas this year. RJ has given instructions that when Christmas is given to Go Away it's to come with a note that says " Merry Christmas from another little boy". RJ wants it to be kept a secret and wants it to be as much as a surprise as possible. He doesn't want Go Away to know who it came from. Presently clothes, toys and food are being purchased for Go Away. RJ's Christmas Wish will come to pass and Go Away will have a Christmas this year after all. God is good.

Tonight the world is abuzz over the death of Nelson Mandela. He was a very large person in history and his name will be one that will live on. He is remembered because he made an impact on his world. There are many names that live on even after death. There are those who once they pass away are just that a name, but they did not leave much of an imprint on the world. I sat here asking myself if I am making an impact on the world? If I were to pass away today, what would people say about me? Would I be a distant memory or would I have made an imprint that changed the world I live in. Most likely it will not be as Nelson Mandela in regards to the type of impact I have made. If I were to pass away tonight, I doubt the entire world would be mourning me. My hope is that in my time being alive I am making an impact on my little world. Even it it's one life, to know that something I did, was for the better in their life and left an imprint that will never be forgotten. Are you making a difference, are you making an impact? God is good.

Tonight I had rehersal for a play/Christmas Concert we will be having at Bethel United Pentecostal Church. The title is Lamb of God and I am positive this year's concert is going to be amazing. The dates are as follows: Friday December 20th and Saturday December 21st at 8pm. The performances are free of charge, but you need to call to reserve a seat at (516)338-1032. This concert is the highlight of my year and this time I will be a part of it. I invite you to attend and be a part of the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus Christ. God is Good

Today Ross turned 19 years old. When he arrived home from his classes, RJ was waiting with great anticipation. He had picked out a gift and really wanted to give it to Ross. Since he is the birthday boy we let him pick a place for dinner. He chose to eat at the Mediterranean Kebab House, which happened to be near our home. The food was so good that I don't want to brush my teeth..I will of course. We were pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. Overall, I think Ross had a nice birthday. We are very thankful to have him here with us. RJ loves him like a brother and that means a lot to us. God is good.

RJ has a fish that he adores named Silly Squiggles. When RJ goes to bed he usually asks me to make sure that his fishy is ok and that the temperature is just fine. This Saturday evening I went to check as usual and realized that his fish was very dead. I called my mom in a panic, not sure what to do. The last thing he needed was to see his fish dead, he was finally doing much better in regards to his Grampy's death. I flushed the fish, cleaned the tank and put it back in his room like nothing ever happened. Thankfully when he woke up Sunday morning, he was too excited about his christmas tree to notice that his fish was not in the tank. As soon as the pet store opened, I rushed to purchase another fish. Thankfully they had another red one and I was able to sneak back into his room and put the fish in the tank. He has no clue and I plan to keep it that way. To some that may seem dishonest.. to me, it's keeping a smile on my boy's face after a very rough couple of months. He has been super happy and that is priceless. God is good.

Today Bro. Walker preached a compelling sermon titled " When God Calls Your Name" Bethel, Bethel. He preached from I Samuel 2:1-10. He went over how the deciples that followed Jesus were not perfect and flawed..yet God was able to do mighty things through them. God looks at you not as where you are, but where he wants you to be. There is a passionate call from God to humanity. When God calls out to us and gives us a promise he backs it up and will do it. He then talked about the 7 people in the Bible where, when God called them, he said their name twice. When he called these people, something life changing occured for every one of them. Abraham, Moses, Samuel, Jacob, Martha, Simon(Peter) and Saul(Paul). They answered with, "Here Am I", when God called their name. Bro. Jonathan challened us to answer when God calls our name. To listen to his voice and to not ignore him, but respond with, "Here Am I". When we do this, we walk in a direction that will radically change our lives. God is good.

This morning we picked out a tree for our living room and a small tree for RJ's room. Of course RJ was up way before the sunrise because he was very excited about having a tree in his room. We picked out our tree's and headed home. Since I was heading for my sister in law's baby shower, RJ wanted me to help him with his tree first and we would do the living room one after the shower. I have to say he did a very good job on his tree. It was nice attending the baby shower and I enjoyed being among family and friends. The rest of the evening was spent decorating our home and I must say it turned out beautifully. I LOVE this time of the year and especially enjoy watching RJ get excited. Every year Christmas through his eyes bring much laughter and joy into our home. God is good.

A chill in the air and our bellies still full from the previous nights feast. Propping my feet up eating a slice of pie for breakfast. It's a fireplace kind of day. Cozy and warm, I snuggle with my boy, coffee in hand. I'm enjoying this rest on a fireplace kind of day. God is good.
Thursday, November 28, 2013
We had a peaceful night of feasting among family. The food was delicious and the pies were outstanding. Tonight I was thinking over the year and all the things I'm thankful for. I'm thankful for freedom to worship, my family, friends, Bethel and RJ's school. Most of all I'm thankful for the blanket of peace I can feel this evening. In everything give thanks. God is good.

This will be our first thanksgiving without my Father in law. It was strange being in the house and waiting for him to say something silly to RJ or something to get his wife riled up. I miss hearing him play his guitar while sitting by the lit fireplace. I baked his favorite pies and wanted to cry when I realized he wouldn't be there to eat it. My heart breaks for his wife who remembers him in everything around her and starts crying. We are cherishing our time with family. Don't take your loved ones for granted, you are not promised to have them with you tomorrow. God is good.
Tuesday, November 26, 2013
Tonight we are traveling to NJ to spend Thanksgiving with my mother in law, Joe and his family and whoever else comes over. The rain on the way has been pretty heavy and we have found ourselves giving thanks for God's protection and for our car. I'm looking forward to a time of rest. God is good.

Tonight I took RJ into a store that was full of Christmas decorations for sale. He really gets excited this time of year and likes to look at all the pretty and shiny things. We happened to come across three small boxes that were decked out and super shiny. He became very excited and asked if he could have them to put under the tree he is going to have in his room ( it's going to be a small tree with a nativity). I was about to tell him no, when he explained to me they were to represent the gold, frankincense and myrrh brought to Jesus by the Three Wise Men, I relented. As we were purchasing these three wise boxes, he excitedly told the cashier what they were going to be for. She was so taken back that she just looked at him and then said..yes..Jesus is the real meaning for this season. From there we went to his piano lessons. He told his piano teacher the story and then commented on how the student in the other room was playing Noel and coyly asked her if she knew who that song was about. She was taken back and said yes, about a gift. He asked her if she knew who that gift was and she smiled back and said Jesus. RJ was so excited. He said that is how he knows if someone knows about Jesus. He will ask them what the best gift of Christmas is. Depending on their answer, he will know if they believe in Jesus. From three wise boxes, my boy is sharing the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus. God is good.

Today Bro.Maki preached for us an inspiring sermon about how God can not lie. When God says it, He does it. His main scriptures were Hebrews 6:18 and I Kings 8:56. God never deceives us, he won't say one thing and mean another. We need to trust God and believe in what He says. Fear can come when we stop taking God at his word and focus more on the external things instead of what God says. The Bible needs to be your source of faith and our instruction book. When we read and hear God's word our faith grows. When we are trusting in God, we need to go beyond what we can see and how our emotions feel. God is beyond and above that. No matter the circumstance, God can not lie and when he says it, he will bring it to pass. God is good.

This morning RJ asked his daddy if they could have an impromptu day at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Bob being the good daddy he is, put his day on hold and he and RJ rode the train into the city. I was told they spent a lot of time in the Egyptian exhibits..I'm not surprised at this since they are both huge history buffs. When they returned home, RJ declared he had a grand time in the city with his dad. Life can become hectic and busy. Please don't be too busy to stop and have a grand time, you will be glad you did. God is good.

Friday's for the most part, are date days with RJ and I. Since he has been in nursery we have been going to the same starbucks and he orders the same coffee cake. Recently they changed their pastries and his beloved coffee cake is no longer there. Thus, today RJ decided to change things and go somewhere else. We went to Hicks Nursery which at this time of the year is decorated very beautifully for Christmas. Much to my boy's happiness they had a cafe and they sold his coffee cake. While we were having our date, he declared that things were changing and we would now have our date at a new place. My boy is growing up so quickly and I cherish my time with him. I don't care where we go on our date, just as long as I can continue to have this special time with him. God is good.

Tonight we had a guest speaker Bro. Maki. I love it when he comes, he is one of those meat and potato preachers that always tell it straight and true from the word of God. Tonight he read from Acts 2: 37-42. His main topic was Doctrine. He said that if you believe something you will have actions to back it up. The Book of Acts is how the Apostles acted, they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus name. If that is how they were then, that is how we are to be today. We are to keep this Apostles doctrine and hold it close,we are to never to leave it. John 12:48- we are not judged by what we think, but we will be judged by how we lived our life according to what God has said in His word. We must have a sound doctrine. Acts 5:28 tells us that with great revelation comes great responsibility. Romans 16:17 tells us to avoid those who cause division and tries to take you away from the truth of the doctrine. God puts a spiritual fence around us because he loves us. He read from Deuteronomy 13:1 and it was like a light bulb went off in my head. I have been in church my whole life and often wondered about those who do not follow and believe the same doctrine that is in the Bible. They have their own interpretation and I see them at times in operation in the works of the spirit. Things happen and you see their prayers answered, yet they do not preach, teach or believe in doctrine. The Bible tells us to not follow them and to stay away from them. Signs and wonders are great, but they are not what saves you. Sound doctrine will save you and keep you saved so you can make it to heaven. He then read from II Timothy 4:3-4. Many churches will tell you what you want to hear, but it's doctrine that will save you. We must continue to hold strong to the doctrine that is given to us in God's word. My Father in law believed very strongly in the Acts 2:38 message and doctrine. He would not waver and stood by it until his death. I stand with him in agreement. We must repent of our sins, be baptised in the name of Jesus and be filled with the Holy Ghost by evidence of speaking in other tongues to be saved. This is the beginning of salvation and I will stand strong on it. God is good.

Most children tend to not want their mother or father to show affection in front of their classmates at school. Yesterday the bus didn't arrive at it's normal time, so Bob decided to take RJ to school. When they arrived to the school building RJ raised his arms to his father and asked him if he would carry him. Bob happily obliged and carried him into the school. We are thankful that even at this tender age, we can still hold him close. Cherish the little moments, take the time and you will have no regrets later in life. God is good.

Tonight was our last Care Group for the year. In light of the celebration of thanks that takes place in November we had a feast and gave thanksgiving. Everyone was asked to give thanks. It was very heartwarming to hear the words that were spoken. We all come from diverse backgrounds, yet share a commonality, we are a part of the family of God. I am thankful for our group and the feeling of a family as we all come together. God is good.

Last night RJ was being rude in how he was speaking to Bob and Ross. He was being very bossy and unfriendly with his toys. Even though he wanted them to play with him, nothing they were doing seemed to be right. Eventually, Bob sent RJ to his room and told him he had to be in his room for 6 minutes in a time out. When Bob returned to check on RJ after six minutes he found RJ under his covers crying. RJ then came out of his room and told his dad not to watch what he was doing. He proceeded to take the container that holds the marbles and brought it to his marble jar. Bob of course assumed that RJ was going to dump it into his marble jar in defiance to getting in trouble. RJ then did something unexpected. He took all his marbles out of the marble jar and put them back into the marble container. He knew he had not been behaving properly and felt he didn't deserve the marbles he had already earned. My husband was so touched and happy to see how RJ realized his mistake and was trying to make it right, that he poured all the marbles from the container into the marble jar filling it to overflowing. God is good.

Today's service was...wow. That's the word I use to describe it, wow. From the very first song to the 7 people being baptized at the alter call, it was a, wow service. Pastor Davis preached a soul stirring sermon on " Pressing Towards the Mark". He talked about how Paul spoke to the Philippian church on staying focused on the goal and not giving up. Paul was persecuted from every side, even within the church, yet he pushed forward and didn't give up his fight to continue to live for God. When things come at you from the left and the right, we are to keep our eyes of God and stay focused on our goal, Heaven. Pastor challenged us to keep Jesus the center of our life and to not give up when things become rough. He also told us that we need to leave the past behind us and press forward towards the calling and promises God has for us. With God, things don't go from better to worse. The best is always yet to come when you are living for Christ. We need to keep pressing and pushing forward and do not allow ourselves to go backwards. The alter was packed and before the service had ended 7 were baptized in Jesus Name. God is good.

We are heading into a time of festivities. November brings us a time of Thanksgiving and December is Christmas. Already the mad dash to the deals for the best toys and gifts have started. I found myself in the middle of the hub bub today because RJ was feeling better and he wanted to go buy something with his birthday money. We soon learned we had chosen a bad day to do this since he was still feeling a bit sick and I was not feeling so great myself. The toy store was swamped with people. RJ being the good kid he is found what he wanted and was more than happy to leave as soon as he could. I'm thankful that he was not one of the many screaming kids I saw in the store. Tomorrow is church and I can't wait to be in the atmosphere of praise and worship. God is good.

I didn't attend church tonight since RJ came home from school not feeling well. I am sure the rapid change in weather has caused him to get sick. We spent the evening cuddling on the couch while he ate Dinosaur Oatmeal. Since I am not able to share tonight's Bible lesson, I do want to address the very sad situation in the Philippines. For many when we see the images of the devastation caused by the Typhoon, we feel helpless. There is a way you can help. You can donate to the Red Cross or to Compassion Services International. To learn more about them and what they do click here. Sometimes we can't explain why bad things happen to good people. The rain falls on the just and the unjust. One thing I can say for sure..God always is there even in the storm. God is good.

Last night's Care Group lesson was about the Little Foxes that spoil the vine. If we do not keep our borders of protection around us, the little things can come in and destroy us. Tonight in our Bible reading Bob read a passage that stood out to me. In Jeremiah chapter 6:16 "Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls..." All I could hear echoing in my mind was to walk in the old paths and you will find rest for your soul..rest. I have not been sleeping well and this struck a cord with me. I desire to please God more than anything or anyone else in this world. The old time way can be the good time way. I cling to God's word and His promises. I am going to hold on this and believe tonight I will sleep well. God is good.

How could I not do a blog with this date on it? Today we woke up to a very blistery and cold day. By the time I dropped RJ off at school it was snowing. I was actually happy to see the snow. Grant it, it's a bit early for me and made me want to skip November and go straight to December. Either way it was beautiful to watch it as it fell to the ground. Tomorrow, I plan on blogging about tonight's Care Group lesson. God is good.

Today is Veterans Day and I wanted to say thank you to all who have put their life on the line for the cause of freedom. America as unpleasant as it can be at times, is still, a free nation. I don't know how much longer we will be a nation under God, but for now, we still are. Men and women have sacrficed their lives so that we can sit in our homes without fear. Thank you for being the ultimate friend, for laying down your life for me. I would like to dedicate this song sung by Shara McKee to all those who served or are presently serving in the military. "Wherever I Am" by Shara Mckee. God is good.

Several months ago we promised to attend a baby Christening of a friend of ours. For whatever reason I put on the calendar that it took place this Saturday. We learned yesterday that we had the date wrong the whole entire time. Thus, we went to church this morning, slipped out for the Christening and came right back to church. I do not like to miss church and I could tell we had missed an amazing service. Thankfully the preaching was still going and Bro and Sis Grandquist were the speakers. I wish I could have been there to hear the singing and the story Sis Grandquist read about Humpty Dumpty. I will just need to buy the CD to hear it. However, I can tell you that the end of the sermon was wonderful and balm to my hurting soul and heart. He was talking about the grace of God. God's grace can cover all things and helps us. With God's grace we can have a second chance. With God's grace we are overcomers. He asked everyone to come to the front and just lay down all their questions at the feet of Jesus and let His grace cover them. I wept and poured out all the things have that have been so heavy on my heart. I felt God's peace and I am thankful for it. God is good.

This morning Bob, Ross and RJ went outside to rake the leaves that had fallen on the front lawn. RJ had a blast jumping into the leaf piles. It was one of the best parts of this season. Tonight, RJ decided to tell a joke," What kind of cheese goes to church? Swiss Cheese, because it's holy." God is good.

Tonight Bro. Joe taught a lesson on God's Dwelling Places. He named four dwelling places where God abides. 1) The Tabernacle was where God abided when the Israelites were dwelling in the wilderness. He was with them everywhere they went. The Sanctuary had two purposes. One was short term and that was a place for God to dwell, He wanted to be the center of their lives. It was also a way of pointing them to their messiah. 2) God in Christ, He tabernacled amongst us. God was living in the "tent" of Jesus. He was the Lamb of God, our redemption. 3) The Church is the place where he fills with his presence. We are the living body of Christ and He desires to dwell within us. 4) The New Jerusalem is Heaven. It is there we will have an unbroken conscience that God is with us. I was thinking about his sermon and reflecting on how much God loves us. Today it rained and the day was pretty gloomy. As I was waiting outside for RJ to come home on the bus, I saw the clouds break and the sun shining through. Then I looked up to my right and gasped. Before my very eyes a Rainbow was forming. It started from the left of my house and made a perfect arch over my home. My neighbors must have thought I was nuts. I was weeping and thanking God for such a beautiful blessing in the middle of a storm. The rainbow stayed until RJ got home and he jumped up and down in excitement. Soon the clouds came back, but inside my heart was still rejoicing over the rainbow that lifted our spirits. God is good.

Over the past few days we have been receiving cards in the mail. Our hearts are touched by the love that is being poured out towards us. It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that my Father in law is no longer with us. I keep wanting to call him to only realize that I can't. RJ has seemed to be doing ok, but today he came home and was very weepy about everything. I know it has a lot to do with the fact that his Grampy has passed away. I'm doing my best to wipe the tears away and put a smile on his face. It's the hardest for my husband. He talked to his dad very often and this is a huge hurt in his heart. We know he is in a better place and we know that many are praying for us. Still...I wish we could have had one more day with him. Cherish your loved ones, spend time with them. Forgive any hurts they may have done towards you...for when they are gone you will be left standing only with regrets and wishing you had chosen to forgive. God is good.

Tonight we had our group and the subject lesson was bridging the breach. The scriptures gave ways that we can build a bridge to cover the things that can cause a breach between us and God. When we read Psalms 62:5-7 5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. I began to feel a heavy weight that had been on my heart and shoulders start to lift. Then at the end of group, Sis Sherry decided to throw in another scripture that was not in the lesson. Isaiah 30:18-21. 18 And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him. 19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. 20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: 21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. It was then that a peace covered me and filled me from the top of my head down to my toes, insided and out. I felt so much peace I wanted to go to bed right then and there. I have not slept well in months and I could literally feel the heaviness seep out of me. I'm so thankful for God's word. God is good.

RJ at times will randomly pick our text to read for our nightly Bible reading. Tonight was one of those nights. He picked Psalms 22. As I listened I marveled at how this passage was placed/written before the 23rd Psalm. We all know the 23rd very well, but do not often hear of the 22nd. After reading it, I realized how David came to the point of the 23rd Psalm. In order to have a life changing experience with God, you are going to go through some very "bad" stuff and some very "good" stuff. It depends on you if you are going to hold on tight to Christ and allow him to get you through your situations. I'm thankful for God's word, for it truly is a light unto my feet. P.S. Unicorns must have been real because the Bible mentions them. Happy for me, I love Unicorns. God is good.

This morning RJ was given a priceless gift. As you are aware my Father in law passed away. We were deeply grieved because RJ is only 6 years old and even though he will remember his Grampy, he will not have "known" his Grampy. Grampy loved to talk with RJ about Jesus. At times they would have some very deep conversations about God. Thus, Grammy gave RJ Grampy's most prized possession, his Bible. Like most Christians he had more than one Bible. This Bible was special; it was his very first Bible. It's very fragile and well-worn from much use. The pages are tear stained and scriptures that stood out to him are highlighted. A priceless gift has been given to my son. True, to form, RJ loved his gift. As you can see in the picture I have posted to this blog, he treasures his Grampy's Bible. I have a feeling that when RJ preaches his first sermon, it will be from this very same Bible. I'm thankful for the heritage that has been passed down to my son. God is good.

Today we laid to rest our beloved Robert Mangeruga. He was a good man who loved The Lord with all his heart, mind, body and soul. There was not one person that crossed paths with him that didn't hear the salvation plan. His leaving has left a huge hole in our hearts. A man like him can not be replaced. Since he served in the military there was a beautiful ceremony at the burial site. Even though he served in the military he was not a man of war, he was a man of peace. My hearts desire is to be like him. I have a long way to go, for blessed are the peacemakers. May I be a peacemaker like he was. God is good.

Tonight was the viewing for my Father in law. There were flowers from many wonderful people the most unique was one shaped like a guitar, which was from the grandchildren. He loved to play music. There was one thing he loved more than music and that was to tell others about Jesus. Tonight as people started to come to show their respects it was clear how many lives he had touched. There was a line that reached the door of the church. It took over two hours for everyone to be able to make their way to the front and pay their respects. He loved many and that love was returned. For us his time here on earth was not long enough. The line of love was proof that he made an impact while he was alive. A huge hole is now in our lives and hearts. You can't replace a wonderful man like Robert Mangeruga. I want to love people and souls like he did. May I be a better person just because he was in my life. God is good.

This morning when RJ woke he said: “Daddy today, I have a good report. Today I have no school, so we can have a daddy day and you really need one." Then he started walking around the house with a little bank in his hands. He told daddy that first he had to pay his taxes. So, then daddy gave him a quarter. Daddy day started by running across RJ's campus and pretending they were horses. From there they went to the Whale Boat Museum and after that got lost. They made the best of it and stopped and ate some pizza and then visited Teddy Roosevelt’s grave. From there they went to the toy store. While at the toy store, RJ saw a helicopter that he wanted. He took it off the shelf and said, “Oh daddy look it's only $4.00. That's, what do you call it, when it's only $4.00...oh cheap, this is really cheap." The lady at the counter couldn't stop laughing. So he went to pay for his helicopter with four one dollar bills. Then the lady told him he needed 35 cents for tax. "Taxes?" RJ asked. “Just this morning, I was pretending I was a tax collector." The lady said, “A tax collector?" He said “Yes." She stood there looking at him in stunned disbelief. “Yes, I was working for the Roman government." With that they left. God is good.

Isaiah 26:3 tells us, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Over the past few days our family has received phone calls, e-mails, texts and Facebook postings. They have been kind and wonderful words spoken about our beloved Patriarch who has passed away. It is as if a literal blanket of peace caused by everyone's prayers has wrapped around us. We are sad and at moments we break down and cry,in the midst of it all, there is peace. God truly gives perfect peace. To all who have said kind words and prayed for us, I thank you. God is good.

This past Sunday my Father in law passed from this life and went to receive his reward in heaven. I know that God likes music, so I would like to think that he is playing a guitar in heaven as he worships the king of kings and lord of lords. Our hearts are broken to have lost such a wonderful man in our lives. We were not ready to lose him and this is where we must trust God in his timing. He was taken from us before we were ready, but we know he is in a good place. No more sickness, no more pain, no more sorrow. Robert Mangeruga was a simple man of great faith and wisdom. My little boy is very sad and goes from not wanting to talk about it, to expressing his sorrow. Tonight as he lay falling asleep he said," Mommy, I bet Jesus is laughing really hard right now..you know..because Grampy was really funny and told some good jokes. I bet they are having a real good laugh together. Grampy is so lucky, he gets to be with Jesus." God is good.

As I write my Father in law is in the final stages of life. Today he was surrounded by his children and some grandchildren. Pastor Hanscome and family came and prayed with him in the morning. He was surrounded my a lot of love. As the evening progressed it was clear that he was in the final stages of life. We were so thankful that Pastor Doug and Sis Vicky came to pray with him and us as well. Even though death is near, the peace of God surrounds us in the room.
He has lived as a bright light for Christ I can only hope I can do the same. God is good.

We threw together a very last minute birthday party for RJ. He wanted to celebrate with his friends from church. So, we put together a very simple birthday party using minimal decorations, ordered pizza and cooked hot dogs. I am learning, less is truly more. These kids have pretty much been together since they were in their mommies wombs. I watched them all sing their birthday song to RJ and marveled at how quickly 6 years has gone by. There was harmony filled with laughter amongst friends who have been together their whole life. I treasure these moments and am so glad for those who were able to make it on such a short notice. RJ will be dreaming of playing pirates, having sword fights and of glow in the dark creations tonight. I thank God for days like this..simple and filled with laughter. God is good.

Tonight Pastor Davis taught on Praise & Worship: The Differences and Similarities. You can sings a song with your lips, but your heart will be far from it. Praise and Worship, look the same, but they are different. Music can be praise and worship, but you can do these things without music. Praise is to express approval or admiration. It is the vocal act of adoration of God. It is not passive, detached or reserved. Isaiah 43:2 and I Peter 2:9 show us that we were born to praise and worship God. Worship is an act of offering submission. When we are worshiping God we are acknowledging that he has all power over us, we are in total submission to him. Anyone can sing a praise to God, but not everyone is worshiping. When you are praising you are putting God on a pedestal. You are lifting Jesus up. We need to have praise in our life. When we praise God, he is lifted up and his presence arises. This is when praise turns into worship. When we began to worship, we are lowering our selves in submission to God. True worship is submission. We submit it many areas of our life to authority, like the police office. Yet, only God is to receive absolute worship/submission. When we submit to God, we rise in a new identity in God. Everything we do needs to be in active worship to God. God is good.

Tonight as Bob was tucking RJ into bed, RJ randomly asked this question: "The old lady that was bleeding, did she need platelets?" Bob replied: “Yes, they were probably at 2." RJ: “Did touching Jesus save her or did her faith save her?" Bob: “That’s a very good question, it was her faith in Jesus that caused her to touch him, and Jesus saved her because she had faith in Him." With that answer he went to sleep. If you would like to read the story yourself you can read it here. God is moved by your faith. God is good.

Tonight's care group lesson was based on faith. Can you have faith enough to believe that the unseen will happen? Can you believe that God will answer even when things look like they are not working out as you think they should. Life has shown us that the longer you wait, the sooner you will realize that things truly do happen for a reason..or do not happen for a reason. God responds to our faith and the more we trust in God, the more of the unseen we will watch come to pass. God is good.

My whole life I had ear problems. If you have been reading my blog you know that the doctors told me I would not be able to fully hear without a hearing aid. Yesterday I had something supernatural happen and when church was over I could hear out of my right ear. Since I have woken up this morning the world has been much louder than what I am used to. I am hearing sounds that I have never heard before. For example, I was boiling water. I never knew it had a sound when it boiled. Tonight as I was cooking, the water started to boil and I was looking all over the kitchen trying to figure out what was making that strange sound. Then I realized it was the sound of water boiling. I never realized how much I truly was not hearing. Tonight while RJ was taking his piano lessons I started laughing out loud. I had been amazed in the past at how the music rooms were sound proof because even though I was sitting directly next to the door of one of the practice rooms, I didn't hear a thing. Tonight when I sat down, I could hear the the music from every piano room! I am enjoying the new sounds and most of all I can clearly hear my little boy singing in the backseat of the car..singing such beautiful songs under his breath...songs I couldn't hear him sing in the past. Thank you Jesus for such a wonderful gift..to hear! God is good.

Today Bro. Eli Hernandez preached. Let me tell you...the atmosphere was charged with the Holy Ghost. From the moment he opened his mouth to speak the words God had for us to hear the power of God started falling. So much stuff was going on all around the sanctuary. His main point was about having the King's seal on your life. When God moves upon you and places his seal all kinds of things happen in your life. I don't think it was possible for someone to not be impacted by today's service. In the middle of his preaching, he stopped and started to say "Platelets, Platelets. A man in his 70's..." He asked everyone to pray..I have no idea what he said after that because I started praying for my Father in Law. I knew exactly what he meant by platelets. We received word that his platelets jumped from 2 to 16. God is doing a work. We went to see him today and he looked much better. To top all this off, those who were in need of healing were asked to come to front. I went up. By the time the service was over my ears were popping. They are still popping. I can't get over how loud everything is. I have always felt the wind on my face, but never could hear it. We walked outside and I could hear the wind...what a beautiful sound. God is good!

We went to visit my Father in Law today and spent a good amount of time with him. I wish I could report that he has made major improvements. I can say he is maintaining. His blood platelets are not where they need to be, but thank God the bleeding has stopped. We know God is in control and in that knowledge, we have peace. We decided after leaving the hospital, to come home and do nothing. It was so nice to sit at home and relax. We did, however carve pumpkins. RJ wanted to carve a cross and the word Jesus into his pumpkin. He said it was because Jesus is the greatest. Ross carved a pretty awesome Owl. All in all, it was a very restful evening and we are grateful for it. God is good.

As a parents we are aware that we need to be honest with RJ about how sick his Grampy is. He is sad about it and every once in a while he will make a comment about how he feels. Also, as parents we need to try to keep life as normal as possible in our home. Today was one of those days. Even though I was exhausted from driving a total of 4 hours to do the simple task of dropping my Mother in law off at the hospital, I took RJ to a birthday party. This party literally started when school ended. He had so much fun that I didn't mind that my stomach was growling or that all I wanted to do was find a pillow and lay my head down to sleep. My 6 year old little boy was having a wonderful time with his classmates. His laughter eased the sleepless nights and made me thankful to be a mom. He was worry free and being as silly as he could be. We don't know what is going to happen with my Father in Law. The doctors are trying a new medicine and it may or may not work. We do know that God is in control and because He is, we can continue to interact and live in the life going on around us. I treasure the fun my boy had today. In the midste of our house being upside down...there was normalcy today in a child's laughter. God is good.

Tonight we had guest speakers. Bro. Eli and Sister Kathy Hernandez. Tonight was unique in that Bro. Hernandez spoke to only the men and Sis. Hernandez spoke to the women. I have to say when she said that that her theme was, Peace, I smiled. It was for me as if God was telling me that he heard my cry out to Him. I didn't take notes, I wanted to soak it all in, I needed to soak it all in. She spoke about finding peace and keeping peace. To have peace we must seek after it. If we seek after it, God will give it to us. The closer we are to Him, the more we have of Him, the more peace we will have. When God gives you peace, you can go through anything. The circumstances don't change, but God's peace carries you. When you have the peace of God, it's a light to those around you. She told us that if we don't have peace in our situation then we are not truly trusting in God with everything. I must have that peace. I want God's peace in my life, daily. I can tell you this morning, I had a really good time in prayer. When I was done, I could feel the peace of God all around me and inside of me. I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I am confident in who holds my tomorrow. I'm so thankful for God's perfect peace within my soul. God is good.

We have been going through a lot of things lately, we are in a time of transition and change. A lot of this is at times overwhelming for me and the other day I found myself once again at a breaking point. Only this time, I was tired and didn't have the strength any longer to "fight". I lay on the couch and cried out the Lord on the top of my lungs. "Rise Up". In my mind’s eye I was in a boat that was being tossed back and forth from mighty winds and waves. I was huddling as close as I could to Jesus, because He was asleep. I needed Him to wake up. Not because I didn't have faith, but because I know that when God arises, His enemies become scattered. When God arises, He will speak to the storm and peace will follow. When God arises, He arises with healing in His wings. When God arises, He is victorious. I need God to Rise up. The situations are the same and in some areas getting worse. I am holding on tightly to the Lion of Judah and I know He will fight my battles for me. I rest in Him, the peace speaker of my soul. God is good.

As the sun set the rain began to fall. For some it would mean the ruin of a birthday party. For these cousins it was an opportunity to have a glow in the dark, soak in the rain good time. A good group of kids and a birthday boy having the best time of his life. Happy birthday RJ the celebrations for you continue. You are loved and even when the rain falls the Son shines down upon you. God is good.

Yesterday RJ had an amazing 6th birthday. From the time he woke up till the moment he fell asleep he was showered with love and well wishes. He told us that all of it was blowing his mind. I'm so glad he had a great day. To everyone who sent birthday love his way, I thank you. We received good news today regarding my Father in law,he is improving. He needs to reach 10 and he can go home. God is good.

Today is the last day my boy will ever be five. You see for tomorrow he will be turning six. Just saying the new number makes me want to cry. Five...he is still a little boy. Six, the baby is pretty much gone and now he is wanting independence. I know these things are as it should be and yet my mother's heart cries out, you will always be my baby! He gave us no problems going to bed early tonight. He knows from experience that when he wakes up, the dining room table will have been transformed into a spread of gifts all wrapped in Birthday colors. Some from mom and dad, others from Grandma and loved ones who sent gifts in the mail. I cherish my gift of a son. I thank God for him every day and especially on his birth day. For you see..6 years ago while I was giving birth, RJ's heart stopped. If not for God's mercy and the amazing doctors, RJ would not be here today. If you have been reading my blog, you know that we have been told by doctors we are "lucky" to have him since we are not supposed to be able to have children. So..say or think what you want. I will be CELEBRATE with all my heart the gift of the birth of my son, R.J. He is a good boy with such a tender heart and wonderful smile. God is truly good!

Tonight in our Care Group the lesson was about finding God in the Rainbow. The the colors of the Rainbow represent many things about God. When we see a rainbow we are reminded of God's grace, beauty and majesty. God sends us a reminder that He can and will provide and keeps his promises. The next time you see a rainbow, don't just think about Noah and the flood, think about how God cares for you. Tonight Sis. Sherry brought a cake to celebrate her father's birthday and RJ's as well. She is always a very sweet and thoughtful person. In regards to my friend who just had a baby, she is doing much better and her son is breathing without tubes. Also, my Father in law is doing better and as before if his blood platelets get to a 10, he can be released from the hospital. He is presently at a 5. God is good.

Today was one of those days...at least for me. I'm not a big fan of the dentist and today I finally relented and went. So, I caved and went today. To a normal person it may not be a big deal, but to me with my ear problems, a drill in my ear is so loud that it makes my ears ring and I literally was crying like a baby. When all was said and done, he told me RJ behaved better. He was teasing me. However, I am not thrilled with the drill and will admit the dark cloudy day totally fit my mood. On a happier note, we received news that my Father in law's bone marrow results came back "ok" for his situation. The plan is to get his platelets up to a certain number and when that happens he can go home. I hope and pray that is what happens. I have another special prayer request. My good friend had to have an emergency C-section. She lost a lot of blood and is not doing well. Her precious baby boy is doing good. Please say a prayer for her. These things remind me that my bad day is nothing compared to the day someone else is having. In everything give thanks. God is good.

There are those sermons that you think are great and the ones that you get a little nugget here and there. Once in a while there is the sermon that you feel like wow, this was just for me. That is how I felt today. We have been going through a lot of "stuff" and today's service from the song "I Go To the Rock" and pastors sermon really minstered to me today. Pastor Davis taught from Philipipians 1:6. His title was "God Finishes What He Starts". He said that we need to be sure you can finish before you start. Eccleisatices 7:8 Ending something is far more important than starting something. When the Israelites left Egypt they rejoiced but when they reached the Red Sea and found they were trapped their spirit of joy and dancing turned to fear and questioning. Even after seeing the hand of God do miracles in Egypt, when they faced an impossible situation they began to fear God was leaving in their hour of need. We make the mistake of thinking God is like us, weak and imperfect. We can at times not keep our promises and we think He will be like us and not keep His promises. God is not man. He never fail and never goes back on his promises. Numbers 23:19 When God speaks that which he has spoken is ordained to occur and come to pass. God's word is powerful. His promises are not the promises of man. His word is powerful, living and activating. God desires to speak to us about our situation and the plan for our future. God's spoken word created everything in the universe. He spoke and it was, He is the God of the process and takes his time to complete his work in us.He will take you all the way to complete his work in you. When diffuclt times come satan tells us there is no hope. There is a reason the devil lies to God's people. The devil can live with our past if he can rob us of our future. Hell is fighting who you are about to become in God and what you are about to have in the spirit. You have a devine destiny. People who are not going through anything are not going to anything. You have to go through what is in front of you. When you have a destiny the devil will try to take what God has for you, he will do his best to destroy you before you can reach God's promised destiny for your life.God never focuses on your past. He focuses on your future. When he speakes to us it's in the present and future tense. We need to get focused on the right thing. Don't look at the problem, look at the prize . Look at what you are expecting. The devil can't kill you or you would already be dead.God has a purpose for you in your life. We have survived by the grace of God. We must stand still and see the salvation of the Lord! If you are still breathing God is not yet done. Turn the page you are not yet done. Setback means your ready for a comeback. You have been chosen for such a time as this. We need to see ourselves as God sees us. After church we went to visit my Father in law. He was in a good mood and eating more. We were happy to see color in his skin and a smile on his face. Today is their 51st wedding anniversary. The hospital was kind enough to allow my mother in law stay the night, so they could be together. Please keep the prayers going up for them. God is good.

Today RJ had a wonderful day at school. We are so thankful to see how happy he is. Tomorrow my brother in law Anthony will be getting married, so we are on our way to NJ for the wedding. On the way we stopped at the hospital to see my Father in law. He looked very tired but was in good spirits when we left. The nurse allowed RJ to come in (he was wearing a mask) and it made him so happy. RJ sang his favorite song TeAmo for him, that really made him smile. The joy of The Lord is our strength. We are still waiting to hear the results of the bone marrow test. We know God does all things well. God is good.

Tonight the Bible study lesson at church was taught by Bro. Tom. He started his lesson with a very touching song about coming to Jesus and live. He taught from Matthew 11: 28-30. Jesus invites the weary to come to him, he cares about our problems. You may ask how can Jesus understand what you are going through. How can he understand our burdens and problems? Here are some examples of how. In Isaiah 53:3 Jesus experiences sorrows. John 11:33 he felt anger without sin. John 11:35, Luke 19:41 and Hebrews 5:7, he cried. He knew joy in Luke 10:21. Mark 10:13-16 tells us he loves children. Matthew 14:22-33 and Matthew 16:6 tells us that he was a friend to his disciples. In Isaiah 28:12 Jesus tells us to come to him and he will give us rest. He wants you to bring all your problems and concerns to him. Jesus does not want you to carry your burden alone. He cares about you and reaches to where you are. Please continue to pray for my Father in law. A bone marrow test has been done and we are waiting for the results. God is good.

Tonight we read from the book of Isaiah. In one of the verses it mentioned swimming. Being a parent of a young child I automatically could hear Dori from the movie Finding Nemo singing " Just Keep Swimming.". I decided to look up scriptures about swimming that are in the Bible. The one that stood out the most to me was what we had read Isaiah 43:2 When thou passesth through the waters, I [will be] with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. When you pass through the waters, God will be with you. Wow! No matter how rough it gets, keep swimming, because God is with you! In regards to my father in law, he is needing encouragement. I ask that you will pray for God to lift his spirits and breath his joy into him. God is good.

Twice a week I pick RJ up from school. I cherish these moments because more often than not we have worship music on and he likes to repeat the really fast songs. The ride to and from his school is beautiful. Right now the leaves are changing color and we see God's handiwork on display. Today is the first day of October. I have always loved this month, good things have always happened to me in this month. As the leaves are changing around us, I feel that in our lives change is coming as well. My prayer is that as we "drive" through it, the peace of God will be with us and we will find joy that can only come from the Lord. God is good.

There comes a time in your life when you feel like you have reached a breaking point. I felt that way tonight. I am sure it has a lot to do with the fact I am getting over being sick, still recuperating from my husband being gone for a week. Throw in the fact that we don't know what is going on with my Father in law and it's been a zoo trying to get him to the hospital in NY. As I type I think he is in an ambulance on his way to NY. There are other things that I chose not to share with the whole world, but they are huge in my life. I sat and thought well..I can cry or I can laugh. I spent the whole day taking care of my little boy who who woke up sick and marveled at how in all the chaos he was dancing in the living room, hands raised in worship to the Lord, while the music played. Breaking point...breaking point...breaking point. I can break down or I can break through. My 5 year old boy showed me in his pure sweet faith in God..you break through. With the help of God I am breaking through and rising above this raging storm. How can I do that? Because I know the peace speaker. When I breath his name, Jesus, He shows up. I don't know what tomorrow holds, I don't know what is going to happen. I do know that I am resting in the palms of my savior's hand and that is how I break through and not break down. God is good.

This morning I woke up with no voice and feeling very sick. It actually took me by surprise because on Saturday I was feeling fine. My wonderful husband promised me that he would take notes so I could still blog about the sermon. I will do the best I can to give his sermon justice as I was not there and I am sure it was very well done. Bro. Ferragamo preached and his title was Abide in Me. He based his sermon off of John 15:15. Living for God is the greatest life. If we were not living for God today, where would we be? We would be lost. The battle is not ours it belongs to the lord. Do not be complacent, be vigilant. Even though the devil is seeking whom he may devour, you can be strong because greater is He that is in you, then he that is in the world. The Bible shows us that God says "Abide in Me" 6 times. When we try to fix our own problems we end up with an Ishmael, that is what happened to Abraham. God is in control of everything in our life. If we abide in Him, the vine, he will guide us. Bro. Ferragamo gave an example of when Balaam wanted to go with the King and God said no. Balaam continued to press and finally God was angry. We need to abide in Christ. Abiding in Christ also means loving your brother. There is no greater love, then laying down your life for a friend. This is not an option, it's a commandment. Think about it, Christ went to the cross for his enemies, knowing they would never come to him. Would you die for your brother? Do you love your brother with a sacrificial love? Being prejudice does not belong in the church. We see the color of our skin, but God only see's the Holy Ghost. I want to add to this..there is a wonderful young lady in our life. Her skin color is not the same as ours. RJ ADORES her and tells everyone she is his Auntie. You cannot tell him any different, she will be his Aunt forever. I'm so thrilled he feels that way about her and the color of her skin doesn't matter to him. What matters is that she showers love on him. All RJ see's when he looks at his Auntie Christinea is his Aunt. That is the beauty that should and needs to be in the church. When we abide in Christ, we are a family, we are of one body. Color, race or even culture should not separate us from one another. We are the body of Christ, we are a family. God is good!

This morning as we were getting geared up and ready to move my Father in law from NJ to NY. Then we received news that there were no more beds available. Thus, we are now in a waiting period for a bed to open. I know just as God did in the past He can cause my Father in laws blood platelets count to go up. If this happens, the risk of bleeding to death is diminished. I see this as a wonderful chance for God to do a work so that when a bed does open up, they are able to remove the spleen without the danger of loss of life. I also am giving thanks because my husband comes home tomorrow night and I would sure like him to be here when his dad changes hospitals. Sometimes things don't make sense, in the end however it does. To top it off I started to feel ill on Wednesday and today I felt like my head was one big cotton ball. Thankfully I am starting to feel a better after many cups of tea and lots of hugs from RJ. The best part is that today when RJ and I went on our weekly date he was glowing with happiness. He had no sorrows or worries because he feels like he goes to the best school in the world and because he has Jesus in his heart. In the midst of all these "things" going on, we have peace in our home and hearts. I give thanks for God is good.

I received news today that my Father-in-law is going to be moved to a hospital here in NY. His platelets are at 2 and they need to remove his Spleen. I'm not a medical professional, but it's clear to me that if he is at a 2 that he could bleed to death. Thankfully he is going to one of the best hospitals and I know that God is with him. He is almost 80 years old and has lived a very full life, we of course are not so ready to let him go. I spoke to him tonight on the phone and he said his trust was in the Lord. Join us in prayer that God will guide the doctors hands and that his blood will be able to clot as it should under normal circumstances. God does all things well and He is good.

This morning I was getting ready to head over to Toys R Us to pick up RJ's birthday present. As I was heading out the door my phone rang to let me know the repairman was coming early today. Normally, we are the last on the list, but today, I was the first on the list. I thank God for that change. There was a shooting today in the very area I was going to be shopping at. The entire area was put on lockdown and I would have not been able to leave for several hours. My nephew Ross was at school and his entire campus was put on lockdown as well. Unfortunately this man who has killed one and critically injured another is still on the run. From the news report it seems to be a work related incident. Either way, I am thankful I was nowhere near the place when it happened. My prayer is that this man will either be apprehended or turn himself in before the sun rises and that there will be no more loss of life at his hands. We live in a very crazy world and this time it was way to close to home for me. I will not let fear rule and I will not live in a hole, I will pray and seek God's face. I will trust in my Savior who loves me enough to change the time for the repairman to come, so I would not be near the shooting. God is good!

Today was a happy day. I wish I could say it was because my Father in Law was able to leave the hospital and go home. At the present moment his condition is the same. It was a happy day today because Jesus was with us. His peace filled our hearts and His joy was real. RJ came home in the happiest of moods and told me a very funny joke that I would like to share with you. " Mom..you know what...a Ghost doesn't say ooooooo...there is only one real ghost and it's HOLY..so it's says blabeyababaddebabbyaaba." Smile..Jesus loves you. God is good.

Today's church service was run by the Bethel Youth Group. They did an outstanding job leading worship and all the extra stuff that comes with running a church service. The BYG choir sang some of their songs from the concert and of course when Te Amo was sung, RJ was out in the middle of the aisle having a good time in the Lord. I just want to say that Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and all the famous singers of our day are nothing like our singers. There is so much more to a great voice. Our youth sang our socks off and they did it with an anointing. Anyone can entertain, not everyone can do that with anointing that literally changes lives for the good. Today was one of those days where God's Spirit was very strong. The preaching by Rev. David McGovern was outstanding. His sermon was very basic and RJ was even into it. Due to RJ sitting on my lap I couldn't write notes. I can tell you he preached from the book of Timothy and Genesis. His title was God of Dirt.. His bases was that we were formed and made by God out of dirt. God loves us enough that He was not afraid to get dirty when he formed us. I wish I could do his sermon more justice, I can say it was GREAT and if you can order the CD I would recommend it. He and his wife are starting a church in Los Angeles and I am certain great things are still to come. All in all, it was a wonderful day and I am as my pastor says, Sanctified Proud of the BYG! God is good.

Tonight was the Bethel Youth Group's concert. They have spent many hours in practice and it was evident tonight. It truly was wonderful to see my nephew up there singing with the BYG. Every song was well done and I felt my heart soar to know that there are young people in this day and age who still love the Lord. RJ sang along pretty much to every song and when they got to Te Amo, he was in the aisle having a very good time right along with them. I enjoyed watching him worship God with all his heart, mind, body and strength. To the Bethel Youth Group, I say Bravo and keep on singing for Jesus. The alter was packed and Jesus' presence was very real tonight. In regards to my Father in Law he is doing better thank you for your prayers. God is good.
Friday, September 20, 2013
Tomorrow the Bethel Youth Group from my church will be having a concert. If you are in the area the concert will start at 7pm. My nephew Ross will be singing in the choir. We are super happy that he is involved in the youth. Since Ross is in the choir, we have been listening to the compilation of songs they will be singing. I think they will have a junior choir member in the pews.RJ is very excited about tomorrow night. I have no doubt they are going to do a great job and am confident that the Lord will show up and His presence will Arise among us. We received some very bad news today regarding my Father in Law. The doctors are doing their best to turn things around. We know God is able and if he did once before, he can do it again. God is good.

Tonight was the Back to School Night for RJ's new school. I must say again, I adore his teacher. I really wish I could clone her and have her be his teacher for the rest of his time in the lower grades. We also met all his other teachers in regards to Art, Library, French, Chinese, Drama, and Music. All in all, I am confident that my boy is attending the best school for him. Ross is doing well in school, we are confident this will be a very good school year for him. My Father in Law is still in the hospital and in need of prayer. In all things I give thanks. God is good.

Today RJ's school had a Getting to Know You Assembly. I was deeply moved hearing the children pledge allegiance to the American Flag and especially moved when they sang God Bless America. For all it's faults, I still love and am thankful for America. When I left today, I was even more convinced that my son was attending the right school. I appreciate their love for our country and the care they have for the children. There are blessings in life's storm. My Father in Law is still in the hospital. He is improving and we are giving thanks for any good news we receive. God is good!

Tonight in our Care Group the lesson basically talked about not jumping to conclusions. I'm guilty of doing this and I have to stop myself and wait to hear the whole story first. It's very easy to take a part of the story and start pointing fingers. It's not so easy to hold your tongue and wait to see what the end result truly is. This is a work in progress for me and I am trying very hard to get much better at it. I'm thankful for God's grace the covers my mistakes. My Father in Law is still in the hospital. For now, he will not be moved to NY. For his wife's sake I am thankful, it's much easier for her to see him and be with him if the hospital is close to home. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. God is good.

Today is one of those sinking ground days. My Father in Law is back in the hospital. Add to it life situations and it feels like the ground around me is quickly becoming sinking sand. There is an old song that used to be sung in church when I was growing up. I think I shared it once before, I will share it again. First you can click here and hear a Youtube version by Whitney Houston. I Go To The Rock :Songwriters: Dottie Rambo Where do I go when there's nobody else to turn to? Who do I turn to when nobody wants to listen? Who do I lean on when there's no foundation stable? I go to the Rock, I know He's able, I go to the Rock I go to The Rock for my salvation I go to the stone that the builders rejected I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me When the earth all around me is sinking sand On Christ, the Solid Rock, I stand When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to the Rock Where do I hide till the storms have all passed over? Who do I run to when the winds of sorrow threaten? Is there a refuge in the time of tribulation? When my soul needs consolation, I go to the Rock I go to the Rock for my salvation I go to the stone that the builders rejected I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me When the earth all around me is sinking sand On Christ, the Solid Rock, I stand When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to the Rock I go to the Rock for my salvation I go to the stone that the builders rejected I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me When the earth all around me is sinking sand On Christ, the Solid Rock, I stand When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to The Rock When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to The Rock When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to The Rock I go to the Rock for my salvation I go to the stone that the builders rejected I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me When the earth all around me is sinking sand On Christ, the Solid Rock, I stand When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to The Rock I go to the Rock for my salvation I go to the stone that the builders rejected I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me When the earth all around me is sinking sand On Christ, the Solid Rock, I stand When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to the Rock When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to the Rock When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to the Rock I go to the Rock for my salvation I go to the stone that the builders rejected I run to the mountain and the mountain stands by me When the earth all around me is sinking sand On Christ, the Solid Rock, I stand When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to the Rock I go to The Rock for my salvation I go to the stone that the builders rejected I run to the Mountain and the Mountain stands by me When the earth all around me is sinking sand On Christ, the Solid Rock, I stand When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to the Rock When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to the Rock When I need a shelter, when I need a friend, I go to the Rock God is good.

Today we had a guest speaker, Bro. Richardson, who is a missionary to Madagascar. I took some notes, but I can't find them, so I will do my best to share with you what I remember. He talked about things that are important for the church to know. He spoke about how when we have God in our lives, there is power when we pray, preach and in our worship. I have to say that today while the choir was singing that is exactly what happened. For a moment it was as if we had gone into a heavenly place. Music is so very powerful and when we use it to praise the Lord He will respond. I am looking forward to Autumn. I love this time of year. The weather cools and everything seems to slow down a bit. Nature sings forth the beauty of our creator and we get to enjoy God's handiwork in every tree around us. God is good.

This week RJ's other set of molars have been coming in. The dentist told us that when this happens he will start to lose his baby teeth. I sighed within my self because that is another milestone that means he is no longer a baby. Today RJ out of the blue starts to get all excited. He has a loose tooth. I wanted to cry. Where did my little baby go? He is rapidly growing up and my tiny little baby I used to cradle in my arms, now climbs into my lap and is falling off on both sides. I'm thankful he is healthy..I shall do my best to cherish our times together. God is good.

Today RJ and I started our Friday dates again. I was very happy to know that his first week of school wet well. He adores his teacher and I'm convinced she's the best teacher for him. Already we can see a change in his temperament and have a feeling that his new school is going to be very good for him. I'm looking forward to many more dates and seeing how happy he is. God is good.

Pastor Davis taught an excellent lesson tonight entitled " The Final Authority". This is one of those lessons that make me do a lot of inward thinking. At the surface it's easy to say oh yeah, I do this..but do I really? Here is the basics of his lessons. I apologize for not taking in depth notes..I was listening and doing a lot of reflecting, so I didn't write down everything he said. Pastor Davis gave 4 points or truths that need to be applied to our lives. 1).The Word of God will test us. Jesus will allow things into our lives that will test us to see how we will respond. The Word of God challenges us, if it's not challenging us, you are not really hearing the word of God. 2) The Word of God challenges us to trust God rather than our own understanding. Proverb 3:5. We need to obey God even if it would seem we know better about the situation and have a lot of experience. 3). We struggle with God's words in areas where we think we have experience, knowledge or differing ideas. There is no need for faith if you always understand God. 4).We are called to make God's word the final authority in every area of our lives. Stop fighting God and obey his word and then there will be a blessing in your life. Like I said I was doing a lot of soul searching. I want God's word to be the final authority in my life. I at times fall short in this area, and I want to do better. God is good.

Before I go into what I want to blog about I first want to give my respect to those lives lost 12 years ago today on 9-11-01. Losing a loved one is never easy and lives for everyone drastically changed that day. Life has a way of filling up with weeds that can try to choke the joy from your heart. A phone call, or event can literally change your day. Then there are those moments that I like to call Kisses of Grace. The Bible tells us that Grace and Mercy shall follow us all the days of our life. Today I felt like I had a kiss of Grace. RJ's teacher truly is amazing, and I am beginning to think she must be an angel in disguise. She sent us an update on how RJ has been doing at school. She ended her email by telling us that at the end of the day she and RJ were humming the Star Wars theme together. Call me silly, but I started crying. It was as if a kiss of grace came into my heart and life. Something so simple, yet so huge for my boy. When he came home today he was on cloud 9. I thank God for RJ's teacher and I thank God for the kisses of Grace that he sends into our lives, just at the right moment. God is good.

Today is my birthday; I actually had to think about how old I was turning. RJ gave me lots of kisses this morning combined with hugs. Last night we received a call that the new school bus and driver would be picking RJ up. I was so happy to see how nice the bus driver was. I felt confident that RJ would be ok and he was. Peace of mind regarding the bus situation was a present in itself. Bob took me to breakfast and lunch today. It was nice to spend simple quality time with him. I didn't really do anything exciting, it was a relaxing day and it ended with our Care Group meeting. I didn't get to hear the lesson since RJ was very tired and said that since it was my birthday he wanted to spend the evening with me reading books together and cuddling. I was glad to grant him his request. During the day, I would read my Facebook wall and see many Happy Birthday wishes. It was nice to be "remembered" and to read all the kind words. Tonight I am thankful for another year. God is good.

When RJ was a baby he used to love to put his foot in Bob's mouth and would laugh hysterically when Bob would make all kinds of silly sounds. As he was falling asleep he would put his little foot into my hand for comfort. Tonight as we were on our way home from my birthday dinner he was crying because his molars are coming in and it hurt. At first I grabbed his hand to hold and that was not working, so I held his foot in my hand just like when he was a baby. Even though he was crying, it worked. RJ will be six soon and is growing up quickly. However, some things stay the same and I can still bring comfort to him by cradling his foot in my hand. God is good.

Today at church we had a guest speaker Bro Chavis who by the way was the one singing on the YouTube video I posted last night..small world. His sermon was so simple and basic and very profound. It was one of those life changing sermons. His title was," The Misfortunes of a Missed Miracle." His sermon was based on the story of the loaves and fishes in Luke 9:12-15. The multitude that was there had come from far away and they didn't have food to eat. They were there because they were desperate for a miracle. As Bro. Chavis was preaching he was breaking up pieces of bread and dropping it all over the platform. When he had finished there were fragments everywhere. He then began to talk about how when the people were full they left and there were still fragments of the miracle that God had performed all over the ground. Jesus didn't want to leave behind the fragments, separated parts of the whole, the miracle that he had performed. The fragments were picked up and they had enough bread left over to sustain them for a while. He talked about how if you want a miracle, you must come and get it yourself. Many times, we take of the miracle and walk away, missing the fragments that are left behind. We miss on the sustaining power, the fragments that will carry us for a long time. If you stick it out in your trial, with God there will be more than just a mouthful from him to you. When you give what little you have to Jesus it's enough and He makes it greater than you could imagine. He challenged us to reach out and not walk away from the miracles that God has waiting for us. When the service was over the church headed out for our annual church picnic. This year the children were raising funds for Sheaves for Christ. As I mentioned before RJ was working very had to raise funds for something that is very dear to his heart. There were two winners. One was an 11 year old girl who raised $2,000 and the other was RJ and he had the most sponsors. He was so excited because the winners were able to wear sashes and lead the pinwheel parade with Pastor Davis walking with them. He told me tonight it was the most special he has ever felt and it made him feel really good inside. We are proud of him, not only did he have the most sponsors, but he raised $532.00. I love my boy and his heart for missions. God is Good!
