End of 2012

In a few hours 2012 will finally be over. It has been a roller coaster ride of a year. When this year started out, I was very sick and was diagnosed with IBS. At the beginning of this year I claimed it was going to be a year of taking back what the devil had stolen from us. was a very rough fight, but a lot of good things did happen. For starters our church was finally able to move into our new sanctuary. Things happened for us business wise that I truly believe are going to blossom in the new year. To make it so much more awesome in the end, I was healed of my IBS several Sunday's ago. One thing we did not receive and that was another child. I am not discouraged by this, for all things are made perfect in God's time. We have been feasting on manna in a time of famine and I thank God for it. I still don't have a feeler for how 2013 is going to be, but when I do, I'll share it. All in all, I can say I am happy to see 2012 end. God has been good to us and I thank Him for being with us through every trial and for every victory that was won. We are happy that Ross is here with us to bring in the new year. God has great things in store for his life and I'm glad we are playing a small part in it. God is Good!

Fever and Growing

Last night RJ woke up with a fever, thus I was up most of the night with him. Sadly because he was not feeling well, he didn't play in the snow (there was not much on the ground anyways) and he and I didn't go to church. I hate missing church, especially the last one of the year, but it is what it is. Bob said it was an amazing service and I'm sad I missed it. Later this evening, RJ seemed to be on the mend and ate a good amount of cereal and declared he must have grown while he was eating. I hope so and I hope his tummy grew too! We are having a hard time getting him to gain weight. At least he is eating. Tomorrow is that last day of 2012,it's been a rough year mixed with many blessings. I thank God for what is to come in 2013. God is good!

Date Night

My Adoptive parents sent Bob and I a date night tonight, Ross agreed to watch RJ and we went out on a date. I love our nights out together..always reminds us that we are more than just parents. Tomorrow is Sunday, hopefully we will wake up to snow on the ground...but just enough to play in and not enough to cancel church. God is Good!

Christmas Extended

Today the door bell rang and the mailman delivered two boxes from my family in California. RJ was so excited about how Christmas just kept on going as he unwrapped all his presents. True to form, he was beyond ecstatic over one of his presents, a book about the Titanic. We enjoyed our gifts. Every year when they ask Bob what he wants, he usually gives a random off the wall request. Last year it was for coal, so they sent him a stocking of coal with a gift card to Kohl's hidden was truly creative. This year he said he wanted Real Estate..they sent him a game of Monopoly..very funny. Thus, tonight we taught RJ how to play Monopoly..he was doing pretty good. Simple things in life with your family bring about lifelong memories. 2012 will be ending soon, I already have a goal for 2013 and that is work harder at being in contact with all my family. To truly know what is going on in their lives, I MUST make time to connect. God is Good!

A Christmas Miracle

This Christmas something very special happened. As I have mentioned before, my nephew Ross is staying with us for the Holidays. Recently we came in contact with his dad. The last time he saw his dad he was a very little boy. When I learned that over the years his dad had been saving presents/cards for David and Ross, hoping that one day he would be able to give it to them, I cried. With the help of one of his friends, I arranged to have the box sent to my house and RJ helped me cover the box with a bunch of bows. At Christmas time we gave it to Ross and he opened a box filled with love to him and his brother from their dad. Christmas day, Ross was able to talk to his dad on the phone. It was an unexpected Christmas miracle and we are so thankful for such a special gift. God is Good!

Tonight we went to Bobs sisters house. We had a good time playing games and the children were having a blast. All the kids are having a cousin sleepover, so RJ is so excited.  This has been a wonderful Christmas!

Best Present

This morning RJ tells me I'm his best Christmas Present. He then proceeds to tell his piggy : " mommy is my best gift but do you know what's best about Christmas?  Jesus, yes Jesus. Christmas is really about Jesus. It gets better, you know why..Jesus is in my heart. Yep best part of Christmas, Jesus. "
Merry Christmas everyone and happy birthday Jesus.

Don't argue with an Angel

Today Pastor Davis preached a sermon titled " Don't argue with an Angel". He talked about Zaccaria and Elizabeth having a child in their old age. I have heard this story many times, but never from this angle. The Angel of the Lord came to Zaccaria and told him he was going to have a child because God had heard his prayers. Zaccaria had a hard time believing what the Angel had said because facts are facts, they were way beyond child bearing age. Mary on the other hand when the Angle of the Lord appeared to her didn't argue with the Angel, she wanted to know more about how it was going to happen and pretty much agreed to go along with whatever God wanted in her life. Both received the promise of God. The difference between the two of them was that when Zaccaria argued, he became mute and was not able to rejoice with his wife over the miracle as it was being birthed in their lives. Mary was able to fully blossom in the promise of God as it was being fulfilled. We have a choice when God makes a promise to us. We as human beings will naturally can it be, but it's up to us how we will respond when God makes a promise that just does not seem to be able to come to pass. We must hold on to God's word and not allow ourselves to doubt that it will come to pass. God is Good!

Presents, Cake, Box & Date

Today we celebrated our Christmas. RJ woke us all up at 4am because he had a dream that Santa came and only gave presents to mommy and no one else. So he went out and wallah there were presents under the tree and he woke us all up in his excitement. Thankfully he is a good boy and I was able to convince him to go back to sleep a little longer...6am and we were all up and had a wonderful time. To make it even better we skyped with my mom and Lisa, so they were in on the fun for a while. Ross received a very special gift in the mail. His dad, whom he has not seen in years, sent him a box filled with cards/gifts he had accumulated over the years and was never able to give him. It was very touching to see that he had remembered birthday's for both of his boys over an 18 year period. We had a wonderful Christmas dinner and followed with a birthday cake for Jesus, for He is the true meaning of Christmas. To end the night, Bob and I went on a date in the city and RJ played with Ross. Bob and I had a wonderful time just walking around the city..a simple date..those are the best. When we came home, you could tell two creative minds had been at work building Lego's and all kinds of fun stuff. Tomorrow, we look forward to attending church and then spending time the rest of the week with Bob's family. On a side note: I added a picture of RJ with the present his Great Grandparents sent him in the mail. He was SUPER excited to get something from them. God is Good!

Cookies, Milk, Clementine and Jelly Beans

Tonight is our Christmas Eve. Since we will be with the entire family on the 24th, we have ours early. We baked cookies for Santa and a birthday cake for Jesus. RJ has decided that this year we should put out jellybeans as well, since they are an Easter candy and therefore, he may have never tasted how wonderful jelly beans are. Then because of all the cookies, he needed a tiny Clementine to have something healthy along the way. We put a very excited boy to bed tonight. I am looking forward to a wonderful Christmas day tomorrow with RJ, Bob and Ross...and of course I can't forget our dog Mozart. Tomorrow we will celebrate Jesus' birthday, this is a highlight for us, for Jesus is the real reason for this season. On a side note, we are super proud of Ross, he got his drivers permit today! God is Good!

School Concert

Tonight was RJ's school concert. I feel I can truly say the light of Christ shone through their songs. We really enjoyed watching the kids and hearing them sing. RJ lit up so bright when the K-5th graders ended with the Hallelujah chorus by Handel. Tonight once again reminded me of why I love RJ's school so much. God is Good!

Fort Fun and Coal

Due to flight delays and one cancellation, Ross finally arrived at 1am. Thus, when RJ woke up this morning Ross was still understandably asleep. When RJ came home from school, he was super excited to see his cousin and they promptly went to work building a fort out of my couch pillows. The whole house is a bit upside down, but I don't mind. We are enjoying hearing our son's laughter and are amused to see our 18 year old nephew playing with our 5 year old son. It's so nice having Ross here with us and we look forward to a wonderful Christmas with him. Today a package arrived for Ross and Bob, RJ thought it was for him. He was so excited he gave the UPS man a cookie. When I told him it was not for him, he started to cry and say that Santa was going to give him coal in his stocking because nothing ever came in the mail for him. God is Good!

Latkes, Cookies and Ross

Tonight RJ was inspired to make Latkes and sugar cookies to make the time go by quicker. He is super excited that his cousin Ross is coming for Christmas and due to a delayed flight we decided to bake. I wish I could post pictures, but my little boy decided to dress in minimal clothing with his red blanket draped around him like a cape and proclaimed he was a super hero. So...I just went along with it and we baked sugar cookies. We had a lot of fun. Daddies had no frosting, mine were decorated and RJ's were covered with rainbow sugar dots..yes...covered. He then announced he was in the mood for Latkes. I have never made them before, but thanks to a recipe from his school and RJ's guidance we made them..they were delicious! RJ ate and ate and ate..mental note..make then again..if RJ eats it, I'll make it. As I type Ross still has not left due to a very delayed flight. The weather out here has not been the greatest today and I pray that he eventually does make it here. We are looking forward to spending time with him, our hope is that eventually he will move to NY and attend school here, God knows best. God is Good!

Worship, A Magi and Candle Light

Today pastor Davis preached an amazing sermon on worshiping the king of kings. Jesus truly is the reason for the season. He is the light that shines away the darkness. As long as we keep our eyes on Jesus Christ, we will have joy, true joy during this holiday season. After he preached, the children did their Christmas production. RJ was a Magi, it was so cute! He didn't sing this year because he has a part that was at the end of the play, I was sad to not see him sing, but I was glad to see how cute he was in his Magi robe. We ended the evening by taking Bob's parents to The Riverside Church for their Christmas Concert. They did an amazing job and it was a nice treat to drive through the city afterwards and see all the lights, while staying dry and warm in the car. RJ was a very good boy all day and we are super proud of how well behaved he was today. I love my son and give thanks to God for him. God is Good!

Music and Lights

RJ's Grandparents are here for the weekend. Tonight they attended the concert at Bethel and tomorrow will be in church to see RJ sing in the children's Christmas concert.RJ is supper happy they are here with us. We were planning on taking them into the city tomorrow night to see NYC all decorated, but learned it might be raining, so we took them in impromptu into the city. We enjoyed looking at all the pretty lights together. All day in the back of my mind and weighing heavy on my heart has been of what happened in Connecticut. We have chosen to not speak about it with RJ, he has such a tender heart and it would stay in him for a long time. Our hearts are breaking and we pray for these families, for God to bring them peace. Our world is falling apart, I will look up and keep my eyes on Christ. God is Good!

Hold Closer

As many are aware the USA has experience a devastating day today. I don't know what can cause a young man to kill his parents and a classroom full of little children. As I heard the news, I started to weep for the families of these children and all who have been impacted by this act of violence. My little boy is so precious to me and today was a stark reminder that I need to cherish him, for I am not promised to have him tomorrow. Today when I picked him up from school for our Friday date, I held him closer and tighter. He hugged me right back with his little arms and squeezed me real tight. Tonight when we said our prayers, we prayed for those who have been impacted by this tragedy. Hold your loved ones close and if you haven't told your children you love them in a while, stop, hug them and tell them you love them. God is still Good!

12-12-12 & Books

Since today is 12-12-12 I figured I would say something about it. I like it when we have unique days like that. I don't get all worked up and except something huge to happen, for me it's another day that the Lord has made and I will be glad in it. Tonight RJ's school had a school night at Barnes & Noble. We enjoy going because it's a nice time to interact with other parents and the kids who even though they have been together all day, act like they haven't seen each other in days. It's also good because any purchases made by us, contribute towards the school it's a win-win situation. I am very thankful for RJ's school, it truly is a rare gem and I'm glad the staff/teachers are such a vital part of my son's life. God is Good!

Tonight RJ wanted me to cuddle with him while he fell asleep. As he was sleeping he was telling me how sweet I was and how much he loved me and then he paused and said.." are sweet mom, but there are two girls who are sweeter and would never yell at Ima and are sweet, but they are MUCH sweeter than you,but I still love you." There you have it the love of a grandmother...put a smile on my heart. God is Good!

Beyond Reason

Today I was reflecting on the month of December and on how it's a time when Christians celebrate our Lord and Saviors birth. I was thinking about how to believe Jesus was born, died and came back to life takes a step of faith beyond reason. There are moments in our life we we must make a choice on what we truly believe. Do we believe that Jesus is an immaculate birth, do we believe He was God and man at the same time? I chose to believe. Yes, we give gifts in our home and I will admit I LOVE giving gifts...isn't that what Jesus did for us? He gave the gift of His life for us. As we do every year, we will be baking a cake for Jesus to celebrate His birthday. We give Him a gift before we ever open one or ours, we give Him our praise and faith beyond reason that He does exists and because of Him, we can celebrate life. God is Good!

Christmas Sounds

Today we had our first Christmas concert at Bethel. I think this years was by far the best I have ever heard. I sat there wishing famous singers like Josh Groban could come and hear this wonderful singing. The songs were an awesome variety saturated with anointing. Since they were ending with the Hallelujah chorus and it's RJ's favorite song in the whole wide word, we took him out of class and brought him in. I got a kick out of watching him directing the choir as they sang. They will be singing again this coming Saturday and we will be going again to hear and experience the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus Christ. Also, we look forward to Bob's parents coming up for the weekend. Our Sunday School department is putting on a children's Christmas concert and RJ's super excited they will be there to see him sing. God is Good!

Joyous Mall

Our church choir sang in three malls today. I applaud them because even though I am sure they were tired, they did a great job. Usually when you hear music in the mall it's a rare occasion to hear Christmas music that is about Christ. Hearing Bethel sing today about the true reason for the season, Jesus Christ, made my heart glad and put a smile on my face. For a small amount of time, a bit of heaven came to the malls today. Tomorrow the 90 voice Bathel choir will be doing their first concert at 12 and then another next Saturday at 5pm and 8pm. We are looking forward to hearing them sing about Jesus, the true reason for this season. The concerts are free and you can get more information at: God is Good!

Eggplant Parmesan

RJ has expressed to me on several occasions that he wanted Eggplant Parmesan. Since we are trying to get him to gain weight, I am willing to cook something he is asking for. I have never made this dish and found an easy recipe and gave it a whirl. I being who I am changed things a bit and wallah I actually made a very delicious dish. I don't even like eggplant, and I liked make it even better, I ate the CHEESE and didn't get sick...yes..I didn't get thankful. This month is going to fly by and I wish I could push the slow button and really enjoy every moment of it. God is Good!

City Christmas

Today is Sister Deckers' birthday and we celebrated it by taking her and Bro. Decker into the city. We had a wonderful time showing them the beautiful tree in Rockefeller Center and all the other pretty sites of the city at night. I am enjoying our time with them and hope they will be able to leave for Panama soon. The Deckers have a true love for the country of Panama and I have no doubt we will hear of great things taking place while they are in the country of their calling. God is Good!

The Grinch and Jesus

Tonight we decided to let RJ watch The Grinch. When we got to the end and everyone is talking about how Christmas is not about presents RJ says: " Of course Christmas is not about presents..Christmas is about Jesus." Yes..RJ is is about Jesus. We like to give gifts and it's a nice thing to do, but don't forget who this season really is about..the birth of our Lord and Savior. God is Good!

Deckers and Weight

This week we have special guests staying with us. The Deckers are Missionaries to Panama. We love having Missionaries with us and already have enjoyed our conversations with them. Our prayer is that they are blessed and find rest while they are here in our home. RJ had his yearly doctors appointment today. We noticed he was on the skinny side, but attributed it to his rapid growth. I was shocked to hear that over the year he has only gained 3 pounds..NOT GOOD. So, we are on an increase calorie count in his diet. He is such a healthy eater. I have two months to get his weight tonight I snuck butter(RJ is not a big fan of butter) into his favorite vegetables and smothered them with cheese. He ate a lot, so hopefully this will help in his weight gain. We are not too worried since he does eat a lot...we are just going to have him eat a bit more. God is Good!

Supernatural Miraculous and No Fear

Today we had a guest speaker in church. Rev. Eli Hernandez preached. From the time the church services started you could feel God's presence and by the time he walked to the pulpit, the anointing of God was so strong, there was no way you couldn't feel God's presence in the building. I have heard Bro. Hernandez preach many services, this one was so different that you knew he came with a message directly from the Lord. He talked about Fear and how the devil will use it to rob us of the miraculous that is hanging over our heads. If we allow ourselves to get caught up with the negative around us, then fear will rule us and we are not the fertile ground God needs. He said that God will still work the miracle in our lives, but it depends on what we give God to work with. Do we give God fertile ground to plant a tree in, or does he need to put a seed in the little patch of ground we give Him. A tree will bear fruit in due season. When God is given fertile ground of faith, He can plant a tree that bears fruit immediately. If not, we must wait until the seed grows and becomes a tree to eventually bear fruit. The power of God was so strong. He had those raise their hands who had pain in their backs. I knew that Bob's back has been hurting him for a long time. The past couple of times he has gone to the chiropractor, they have not been able to alleviate the pain. Today in the service his back popped four times and he is pain free. As we prayed for each other as a church you could feel people being healed of all kinds of things physical and emotional. By the time the service was done, the whole church was shouting in the aisles. It was AWESOME! Where the spirit of the Lord is there truly is liberty. I can say this, I felt a heat in my stomach today and when we had dinner, I ate food that normally would have made me super sick and NOTHING happened, except for a satisfied feeling of being full. God is Good!

Christmas Begins

Christmas started today for us. We went to pick out a tree and were happily surprised to see his best buddy doing the very same thing! This year RJ was really into it and we enjoyed hearing his excitement over all the tree decorations and of course the train going around the tree. Every year I think our tree gets prettier. This year was no exception. RJ really wanted to make it gold and red, so we did, while still putting up all the cute ornaments. To end it perfectly we baked marshmallow brownies in our new oven. (Our oven stopped working due to power surges from the power going out). A very happy boy went to bed tonight. Now, I am going to cuddle with my husband and enjoy our pretty decorated tree! God is Good!
