Easter Rest

Today we took it easy since it was a rainy day. The best thing about being with my mommy is that we have a good time no matter what we do or don't do. However, we did color eggs tonight and that was a blast. We are going to have an Easter egg hunt tomorrow after church in the house. Since my mom is here, we are going to celebrate a bit early so she can participate and watch him run around the house looking for eggs. Tonight we read the story of Easter from the Bible. RJ was really into it, I like it when he gets engaged in the scriptures and starts asking questions. He knows a lot of stories from the Bible and it's because we read the Word of God out loud to him at night before he goes to bed.

I Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Grandparent's Day

Today my mom attended grandparents day with RJ at his school. They both seemed to have a really good time. RJ was super happy to have her with him.
We spent the rest of the day at the Planting Fields Arboretum, followed by feeding the sea gulls in Oyster Bay. It truly was a wonderful day.

I'm so happy my mom is here for the weekend. I wish it was longer, but I'll take any time I can have with her. RJ is super excited because she will be going to school tomorrow with him to participate in Grandparents Day.
I cherish any time I have with my mom, so I am so thankful to have her here!

The Empty Egg

Today Bob and I had the privilege to share with RJ's class how we celebrate Easter and why it's so important to us as Christians. It was so wonderful to be able to speak about the story of Easter to his classmates. RJ was beaming, it was so cute. I ended the story by telling them that every year when RJ does his egg hunt he always finds an empty egg,As I opened the empty Easter egg, I asked them why it was empty and RJ raised his hand. I let him answer. " The egg is empty because the tomb is empty. Jesus is alive!"
Let me tell you, I was one happy parent, because he remembered the right answer. We followed by doing a craft of painting plastic eggs and making Easter chicks. I told them they can hatch their eggs over and over again and remember that life comes with Easter.
I don't know if they fully understood what we were sharing with them, but it was so nice to be able to share with them what means so much to us and that is Jesus died on a cross, but came alive 3 days later. HE IS ALIVE!

Praise March

RJ has been battling a fever since Saturday. He woke up feeling better today and went to school. Tonight he was feeling so good that he picked up his tambourine and started a praise march around the house. Bob then followed playing his Ukulele. They sang "Shine Down Your Light On Me..." We were happy to see RJ feeling good again. Perfect timing since his Grandma will be arriving on Thursday.
If you feel discouraged, I have learned from my son, marching around the house in Praise to the One who delivers, always lifts your spirit and usually is followed by God moving in the miraculous.

4 More

RJ and I were cuddling on the couch and this is the conversation that followed:

RJ: "Mom, you know what...we need more kids in this house."
Me: " Oh really, how many?"
RJ: " Well, it's too empty in here and I think we need 4" .
Me: " 4 more kids or one more plus mom and dad makes 4"
RJ: " OH no, I mean 4 more kids."
Me: " Um.....ok...boys or girls?"
RJ: " Well, I have to be number one and they need to be smaller than me. And well..I like playing with girls...and if you have another boy, then I won't be the number one boy, so they need to all be girls."
Me: " What if I get pregnant and it's a boy, what will you do?"
RJ: " Well..that just won't happen....and I want them all by the time I am 5."
Me: " I don't think that is possible, but maybe God will have one on the way for you by the time you turn five."
RJ: " Well...ok..I guess, but I want to always be the first boy and the only boy."

I'm sure if the Lord blesses us with another child and the baby is a boy, he will be happy anyway. Either way, we need to have another child in this house..

ever. Amen.

Missed Song

RJ has a favorite song and laments every Sunday when they don't sing it and this of course turns into a discussion with him that we go to church for God, not to hear our favorite songs. He then relents and then when he gets a chance will ask the song leaders if next time they would sing his song. Well...this Sunday they sang it, just for him and he was not there! The poor little guy woke up in the middle of the night with a 104 fever and I was like ok God, I need you to touch my little boy now! I gave him medicine and then prayed for him. Immediately the fever dropped and he fell asleep. This morning, he was throwing up, so we decided it was best to keep him home. He cried when he found out that his favorite song was sung and he wasn't there to hear it. Thankfully by this afternoon he was feeling much better and asking for Pizza.
Hopefully he will be up and running around tomorrow.

Date Night

So..last night RJ spent the night at his Uncle Tim and Aunt Claudia's house. After they left, Bob and I were sitting on the couch trying not to fall asleep. It was 10pm and we realized we were child free for the night, what were we doing sitting on the, we got dressed up and went for a late date night in Flushing, NY. Sure we could have went to Manhattan, but we both were in the mood for some really good Chinese food. We had a lot of fun staying out late and sleeping in the next morning till 9am. Yes, that is sleeping in, compared to 6:30am wake up call from RJ. We had breakfast at our favorite Diner and then went for a lovely walk at Planting Fields Arboretum. It was a good reminder that we still need to date each other. Even though we have been married 5 years, going on dates are needed to keep the romance alive. Unfortunately for Tim and Claudia RJ got sick and the poor little guy wasn't much in the mood for playing. He had a fever when they brought him home, thankfully he is sleeping and his fever has gone down. Hopefully when we plan another sleep over for RJ, he won't be sick and they will have a blast. I love it when he spends time with them. There is something special about love that can only come from his Aunt and Uncle.
He did say that he had fun even though he was not feeling well. It seems he had a 24 hour virus, because before he fell asleep, he ate an apple, plum, peach and Fish Ball Soup. Hopefully in the morning he will be bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to worship the Lord in church.

John 3:16

Today RJ made a circle around him made of his musical instruments. He had two tambourines, two Ukuleles and a small keyboard. He proceeded to sing a song while playing each one. At first we couldn't hear what he was singing and then we were super happy when we heard what he was singing. He had turned the scripture John 3:16 into a song. I think we have a future Bible Quizzer in our home!

Tonight Pastor Davis taught on peace. I learned a lot about how God wants peace to be in our lives. We need to allow God to be our Umpire and give us peace no matter the circumstance. Life can be rocking and rolling around you, but if you allow God, He will give you peace to be still and get through the trials of life. Instead of allowing your emotions and thoughts to rule you, you can step back and allow God's peace to guide you.

I have a Best Friend Forever and she lives in California. We have been BFF since we were little and it's amazing at how just playing words with friends via our phones is like we are in the same room. I'm thankful for her and I believe that our friendship will last through anything. So Reva, if you are reading this,I thank God for you! Even though we are miles apart, she will always be my BFF.
RJ has a friend like that. He has some really good friends in church and one of them truly seems to be his BFF. Tonight we attended his friends 4th birthday party and as I watched them run all over the place and just enjoy being kids, I gave thanks inside my heart. A BFF will be there for you in a way that your siblings or parents just can't be there for you. I don't know what the future holds, but I pray that RJ and Louis will continue to be BFF.
You know, Jesus is a friend that sticks closer to you than a brother. If you feel alone, He will be your BFF!

Spring Has Sprung

Today is the first day of Spring. We were blessed with a beautiful day and spent most of it in the backyard looking for signs of spring. RJ watered all the spring flowers that were starting to peek out of the ground. This is a happy time when all that has been asleep begins to wake up.

RJ loves the flowers so much that he will say " Make sure you step over the signs of spring, we do not want to step on them."

Sweet Words

RJ lately has started to say really nice things to me. I am enjoying this and will soak it in as long as I can. It might have something to do with Spring in the air.
Here are some things he has said today:

" You are my pretty purple flower."
" You are the best because I LOVE you."
" I'm so glad you are my mom."

Let's just say I was enjoying the love.

Spring is in the air and it makes us feel happier. Spread some of that love to those around you.

Today is my 200th post. I'm enjoying this blog and hope those who read it are enjoying it too. This weekend we plan on going to NJ to spend time with Bob's parents. When I am in NJ, I usually don't blog. I am thankful I have a neighbor who keeps an eye on our home while we are away and feeds the cat too. It ties in with the lesson Pastor Davis taught on last night. I was not there to hear it, but Bob told me about it last night. The lesson was on love. I can truly say I love my neighbor, I have a great relationship with her and her family. I need to know the rest of the people on my block too, but I am glad we stepped out of our little world to get to know them. Do you know your neighbor? Do you love people? Do you love the Lord? You can "do" all you want, but if you do it without love, you really are wasting your time.

Here are the M90 for yesterday up to Sunday:
● Day 4 Psalm 119:89
For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
● Day 5 Psalm 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
● Day 6 Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
● Day 7 Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate
therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is
written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt
have good success.

Faith Builder

Tonight we had two unexpected guests in our Home Group. When they were brought in such joy sprang up within me. Two precious miracles were in my home! A little over a year ago one of the ladies who attends our weekly Bible studies asked for prayer. She and her husband were trying to have a child and doctors had told them it was almost impossible for them to have kids. We prayed and they went to the doctor for treatment. I took it especially to heart because we really want another baby and I knew what she was feeling inside. Several months later she told us she was pregnant. We prayed for them the entire pregnancy. She and her husband were blessed with two beautiful twin girls. Tonight was their first time in Home Group! I was so happy to see them. God has been doing some awesome things in our lives and we are watching Him answer prayer after prayer. Seeing these miracles from God caused my faith and hope to soar. Nothing is impossible for God!

So..I woke up this morning to RJ shaking me and yelling for me to wake up. It seems that both of my ears were so clogged up I didn't hear my alarm go off. Every year around this time, I catch a cold and it wreaks havoc on my ears. Well..this year was no exception. After several hours at the Ear Nose Throat Doctor's office, I was instructed to take some medicine and come back in three weeks. So..for now, I am in a state of I can hear you, but I can't hear you. RJ is a real trooper and either yells very loudly for me to hear him or pulls my ear down to his mouth and's cute. He told his teacher today that he was going to give me honey and lots of hugs and kisses to make my ears all better. I like his medicine much more than what I have to take!
Either way, I'm sure I will be hearing again and life will be back to normal soon. Until then...if you see me and call out my name, I'm not ignoring you...I just can't hear you.

On a lighter note, Spring is almost here and it was a beautiful day today!

M90 & He's Back

For the next 90 days the youth have taken what is called the M90 challenge. They are attempting to memorize a Bible verse a day for 90 days. I liked this idea and decided to tag along and give it a shot. I didn't memorize today's verse, but I did read it out loud many, many times and I felt strenghtend every time I read it. There is power in speaking God's word. Thus, for the next 90 days at the end of my blog, I am going to post the scripture for the day. If you would like to be a part to this you can go to this site :
and it will give you a link to the M90 scriptures.
Here is today's:
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Also, I want to say how happy I am that my husband is home. I never thought in all my independent single years that one day I would become so attached to my spouse that I would literally feel like half of me is missing whenever he is away on business. The moment he walked through the door this morning I felt like a whole person again. I love my husband and my love for him is ever growing and stronger than the day we said "I do".

"So Great Salvation"

Pastor Davis preached today what I call a golden nugget sermon. You take notes and you keep them around because you are going to use them and apply them to your life.
His title was " So Great Salvation" and I jotted down the main scriptures. Here they are:

Hebrews 2
1Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Romans 3:23
23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Acts 2:38

38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Revelation 20:15
15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

John 3:5
5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Mark 16:16
16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Galatians 1:8

8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed

John 3:8

8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Psalm 8:3-4

3When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

No one is perfect and the plan of salvation is set out for you in God's word. You decide, will you live for Him?
God's word is a light unto my feet..will you allow it to be the light to yours?
As for me and my house...we shall serve the Lord.

Joshua 1:9

The past couple of weeks have been rough. Bob has been aggresivly working on a business transaction that has caused him to be out of town more than he has been home. It was rougher than normal because RJ got sick and I am now starting to get over a rather nasty cold that plugged up my ears. I am thankful that Christina Tate stayed over this past week and she is a nice distraction for both of us. I think she deserves extra points since she put up with a little boy who got cranky a lot. He misses his daddy and has been pretty well behaved considering this is the longest he has been away from his dad. Thankfully Bob will be home soon and they will have a daddy day and all will be "normal" again for us. I'm not perfect and my parenting stlye during this time may not be approved by some, but when my husband is away, I give RJ a lot of grace. When he acts out and is not behaving as he should, I wait a bit before I scold..why, because he is only four and is still trying to figure out how to express himself. Also add to the mix, I am super tired and to be honest, just don't have the energy. Single mom's are in a differnt class...I have HUGE respect for them. I know we will adjust to the days when Bob has to travel. We are in the learning process stage. I aplogize that this is not one of those upbeat post I normally write, but life is life. I'm not complaning and am super thankful that I have a husband who is hard working and a good man. Tomorrow is Sunday and I'll still give God my praise. It may not be as spirited as normal since I am tired and can't hear so good, but I'll still praise Him. I leave you with this, for it helps me when I start to feel down.
Joshua 1:9"Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
So even though Bob may go out of town, God is still with me! AWESOME!

Yesterday RJ had his first visit to the Dentist Office. It was clear when we walked in the door that they were totally geared towards children. Right off the bat RJ hit it off with the Dentist and his assistant. When they had him lay down, they asked him if he wanted to watch tv, he said sure and they put on the cartoon network for him. Before I could suggest something else, he pipes up..oh I don't watch magic, can you change it please. He then asked if they had the news or something like the Titanic..I did my best to not laugh out loud at their facial expressions when he said this. Finally Mickey Mouse came on and RJ was satisfied. He did great and I was proud of him and his behavior. We go back in two weeks for x-rays and teeth cleaning. Sadly, he has a cavity on his two upper front teeth. I had a cavity at the very same age in the same spot. The rest of his teeth are looking good. I was thrilled with the dentist and super happy that RJ can't wait to go back.

RJ's Cabbage Soup

Every once in a while I like to take RJ with me to go grocery shopping. I shop at several different stores, but there is one in particular that RJ really likes. He says that everything is much prettier there and they have the best things to eat (fresh made Italian sweet stuff). A while back when I took him, he was trying to talk me into buying the beautiful head of cabbage. I told him I didn't know how to make anything with cabbage. This week, when we went, he saw the cabbage again and was begging me to buy it. I asked him what I could make with a cabbage and he tells me: ", you know dad said he wanted cabbage you can make him cabbage soup." I don't know how to make cabbage soup and RJ starts suggesting things to throw in...a basketful later we go home and prepare the soup. You was amazing. I couldn't really eat anything except the carrots and the potato, but it made the house smell so good and Bob raved about how good it tasted. So..I have a new dish, cabbage soup, thanks to RJ. I think I'll call it RJ's cabbage soup, since he gave me the idea.

a dash of garlic powder
boil it all together and enjoy!

It's a Whale

So..RJ has been on a Jonah and the Whale kick and we have been reading it from the Bible every night before he goes to bed. Tonight as Bob was reading, it says that Jonah was swallowed by a big fish..RJ says: " Uh, excuse me dad, but it was a whale..I'm right and your wrong." Bob :" RJ, the Bible is not wrong, it says right here a big fish, however Jesus says in the Bible that Jonah was swallowed by a whale(Matthew 12:40)." RJ:" Well, if Jesus said it..then I'm right, it was a whale." He then asked all kinds of questions about the story. He was so tired, but made himself stay awake because he wanted to hear that the Whale spit Jonah out and all the people were saved because they repented of their sins.
You know, it's never too late. God loves us so much that He will send someone from far away to give you a chance. How great is that love? He will send a big fish or a stranger from far away...when He sends it, don't run away, run to Him!

The Chains Fell

To a first time visitor of a Pentecostal church, we may seem a bit strange. It can seem odd that all these people start singing and then become very excited. Sometimes, like today, there is no preaching and the excitement is so intense that to a first time visitor, we look a bit fanatical. But, I challenge you..if you go to a sports game and your favorite person scores a point, you will do what...jump up, start screaming and maybe even do a little dance. Or are at a concert and start singing the song, and scream when the singer/performer comes near you. These people don't know you and have done nothing for you, yet you still get besides yourself just being in their presence. Well..we church people get excited and besides ourselves when we get to thinking about a God who cared enough to die for us. A God who has done things for us that we are very grateful to Him for. Today, while the choir was singing I closed my eyes and began to give thanks for all He has done for us. Everyone was clapping and it was as if, with every hand clap I could hear chains falling to the ground. The place became a huge expression of Praise and Worship. We became excited about our God who does amazing things. We know Him, He cares for us. Maybe we can't see Him with our natural eye, but we can feel Him. We do experience Him in the impossible becoming possible. Don't believe me, ask the people today who have being going through their private struggles and as they clapped their hands, jumped up and down and sang with all their might, their invisible chains fell and they felt freedom from their sorrows. The best thing about this, is when they go home, something supernatural has happened and what seemed impossible has all of a sudden become possible. The "foolishness" of expressive worship, really isn't silly. We are fighting through our troubles and reaching the King of Kings, who has all power and who can change our situation.

Big Muscles

RJ likes us to feel his "muscles" after he has eaten a lot of food. We make a big deal about how big they are and what a good eater he is. It's pretty cute when he flexes them.
I at times think about our spiritual muscles. Are we building them? Are we feasting on the Word of God and nourishing our souls in prayer? There is a song we sing at church that says something like this: " Weapons we use are not bombs and guns, worship is the way that the battle is won, this is the way we fight...praising for the victory." I'm not sure to wrote it and I don't even know the title of the song..but when we praise the Lord no matter the circumstance, we are flexing our muscles.
When we fight with praise and worship, we are stronger and become victorious.
Tomorrow, I plan to fight..I will fight by worshiping the Lord. I will clap my hands, and as I do, with every clap, chains will break loose and fall. In Christ I have freedom, in Christ, when I praise, I am strong.

Breakthrough Has Begun

At the beginning of this year I posted several blogs pertaining to this being a year of breakthroughs. Of taking back what was stolen and claiming the promises of God for the year 2012. Today was one of those breakthroughs. We had a huge victory and I am excited at what it is going to open in our lives and the lives of others. God is amazing. We in our humanness have a hard time really grasping how big our God truly is. When I look at NASA footage of the stars and the galaxies, I become overwhelmed at times with the greatness of our God. We in our tiny minds put Him in a box, but when you realize how majestic He really is, then you allow Him to be the greatness He wants to be in your life.

Today RJ woke me up by telling me that he felt GREAT! I was super happy to hear those words. He went to school today in the best of moods and I got in the car to see that my tire was going flat..but hey..I didn't get upset because I knew I could take the car in to get it fixed. We had a great day today and when it was time for church, I was a bit hesitant to take him because I didn't want to overdo it and he get sick again. He started crying and telling me how much he wanted to go to church. So, we went. He fell asleep during the worship music, but fell asleep happy because he was in church. I love my sweet boy.
